You should have told me. I would've just kicked one of the randoms who weren't doing anything.

Todays practice session is open. Room number is 1472-6399-8408-2428-8166.
To anyone wishing to join, either use the room number, or send me a friend request.

Edit: My net went down for 20 minutes, but seeing as no one is interested in joining today, it's no big loss. Will update the OP with more dates for practice sessions later today.

Sorry I didn't join today. I was so in to Far Cry. Put it on at 8:00, turned it off at 23:00. Fair to say I got addicted to that game.

Don't know if it's a good idea to play it tomorrow when I get home from work. May not get anything done. Again. Now I'm wide awake at 23:50, knowing I will be awake at 5:45 for work, meaning tomorrow will consist of a whole bunch of yawns. :dopey:

Still plenty of time to sign up, so you shall be most welcome :).

Sport tires and Racing Intermediate and Rain are indeed what will be used in the championship. But as for using any lower compount than SS tires, it's highly inadvisable. Consider this comment that I posted earlier in this thread.
My original plan was to run the Le Sarthe race on SM tires, but after a 10 lap test race, I came to the conclusion that you'll be giving yourself a huge handicap.

"The difference in durability between the two different compounds should be much higher than it currently is. After 10 laps, you had around 50% tire left, where as I had 45%. While I could certainly adjust my driving to be even more focused on preserving tires, I would be losing even more time per lap than I already was.

The best lap I was able to pull off with SM tires, was 4.06.3. That's 10.8 seconds slower than the fastest lap done on SS tires. On average, I lost maybe around 8 secs per lap. A pit stop for tires last roughly 20-25 seconds. And then you are able to do fast laps again, where as I'm out on half worn SM tires. Losing even more time per lap.

Not only is the durability in tires completely off. The amount of grip lost relative to the amount of rubber you have left, is also generally exaggerated.

The tiremodel in GT5 is by no means the worst out there, but it leaves a lot to be desired
.
"

But it's your choice. Perhaps you'll be able to get better results than me.

We have another practice session today at 11.00GMT. That's about 2 hours from now. Join if you want. And welcome to the Series .

Also, if you know anyone else who might be interested in joining, please do ask them.

Oh ok. I was hoping sports tires weren't like racing tires with the different compounds but it's just as bad. They really need to fix that, it used to be even worse.

Anyways, it'll be a lot of fun to race these cars on sports soft. Plus it'll weed out the noobs.

Who's joining tonight?
If no one is intending to join, then I won't host one.

Track day/practice session moved from sunday to saturday at 12.00GMT. Reason being that I will be pre-occupied elsewhere on sunday.

Sorry, i can't join this weekend at all. Though i need soms practise, it's been a while since the last practise session.

I've updated the OP with two more dates (upcomming tuesday and thursday) for practice sessions. I very much recommend joining both, as they will be the last chance to practice on Monza and Daytona, as well as getting the final tuning done.

Is anyone joining the track day today?

I will join.

Ugh. I haven't downloaded the new patch that removes hybrids yet, but I guess I have to say good bye to them. I'll come and join in approximately 20 minutes.

I never had any. Just woke up one morning and it said it had downloaded me a patch for Gran Turismo 5. Playstation Plus is quite handy. :)

Oh II didnt realise it would be 6pm in your country. Sorry I cannot make it.

You do realise that my country is only an hour ahead of you, right? :)
UK residents need to add 1 hour to the times that I post due to summer time. I have to add 2 hours.

Edit: Today's track day has ended. A track day where I rediscovered my unlimited love for the McLaren F1 and the Ferrari F430 Scuderia.

Hi mates!

I'm sad to say, I won't be joining in this one... I'll be having some friends over for dinner this friday :P

Cheers

When are the next practice races? I can only race on weekends until 2 weeks time where I am able to play all I want.

The next two practice sessions are on tuesday and thursday, both at 18.00GMT. I usually don't make exceptions on the rules regarding new participants, but if you show up early for the race on friday, and you give us your word that you drive clean and fair, I'll let you participate in the championship without having attended a practice session.

Please respond in the thread if you wish to do this. Our first race is on friday, and you'll need to be there no later than 17.00GMT.

Stop changing your profile picture!! I've been Captain Slow for like 2,500 posts now.

Nevah!

I'll see if I can attend. But its a bit slim for me because I have to pack everything up for my moms house.

I should've probably told you this earlier but I live in two houses as my parents split up. So its hard to go to ones house without taking much time to pack up. So I'll try to arrange things and make sure I can get into the practice.

You will know I'm a fair racer too. Can you type in on youtube "Valdudes Mazda RX-7 Subscriber Race" I'm in the white car and finished 1st in my first ever subscriber race against some real racedrivers too. I use a wheel as GT5 is meant to be as. But I promise I'll be fine.

Thank you for giving me an opportunity. I'm very thankful.

Sounds good. I've seen the video on YouTube, and it certainly looks like it's run in a clean fashion. Good stuff. I look forward to racing with you, and everyone else, on friday.

I hate to say this but......

I think I cannot make it... I'll be 2 hours late if we went early.

I want to make sure that you know when the race actually is. At 17.00GMT (that's currently 18.00 in England due to daylight savings) the lobby opens. One hour after that, the race begins. So in other words. The race does not begin before 19.00 in England. Does that change your situation at all?
