Why would you have an option to take those things away... this is rubbish!
If this is where they are now, PD will finish the game in 5 years.

It's rubbish, eh?

GT fans have been wanting damage since lord knows when. Now we finally get it, guys like you just sneer and criticize.

Take this, for example. Say I was poor and starving. I crawl up to you, asking for bread... "please, please can I have some bread... I'm starving... please... I'm desperate"

So you finally give me bread. And, then, I say "hey... wait a minute... this crust is oddly shaped!" and throw it back in your face.

I think "ungrateful" sums it up nicely :grumpy:

PD is able to do some steps further in car graphics, but they are just not able to do sufficient steps in other areas of the game. This time in HD it becomes more and more obvious.

I can't believe that they still hold the same team if the AI still does the same blind crashes, game have so poor visible damage displayed with just some parts outside of main body shell, track and surroundings look like GT4 and there's still that ugly aura around every car with some zoom, easily seen even in crappy video. We didn't even heard the sound, because it will be non realistic buzzing like usually. And what about our lovely tracks? If GT4 had 52 tracks and GT5 will have no 90, but only 60 of them, we are not going to see so desirably wanted Spa Francorchamps, Imola, Bathurst or Pikes Peak, not speaking about all stages from WRC or all NASCAR ovals, only some Portugal and Swiss city tracks which I put on the last place in my wishlist.

And that all after 5 years of work, secrecies, many delays, confused declarations and obscurities. The game as is presented is looking like an arrear for me. I just came to conclusion they have to bluff us with all this stuff and with end of the year they show us brand new game, never seen or played by anyone.

Hey, PD guys, forget those millions of polygons for a car and do the other things for your homework, please! Otherwise GT is going to be greatest game fiasco of all times, Shift or Forza with their great drive dynamics, similar physics, better ballanced graphics with other things than cars perfected, and well ballanced quality in all areas of the game will smash you. And we will have only 1000 very nice car models to stop the loud crying, nothing more. Please, PD, show us some real surprise and fulfill our expectations, because all shown till now is just very sad story featuring some opened door or bonnet by car that leaved that accident without scratch.

Wow. We have bumpers falling off, panels deforming, and cars getting scratched all to hell, and you guys still complain? Personally, I find this all quite exciting and I can't wait to try it myself.

a new vid: youtube.com/watch?v=9mUcRh0Ynbo

You can clearly see the scoobie hitting the Focus but nothing came off the focus not one thing (debris that is)

The Damage itself looks good to me and it would be enough, i would find it stupid if you could crush racecars with streetcars though.

Hopefully its a settings thing.

But all that aside, the game itself looks absolutely beautiful.

Im not too sure what to think too be honest but it i'd be happy for GT5 to ship without damage let me just put it that way.... Keep the series intact as beatufil but i wont take any judgement yet. alot has to be revealed!

Good indication that its a settings thing and has nothing to do with "racecars only", otherwise the Focus wouldve been damaged too.

I'll embed it here 👍

Man, it really had some handling issues after that smash :dopey:

The Focus didn't hit very hard and flew past before we could see the results, nothing hard enough to make much if any debris (for a game).

Exactly. My honest opinion is that in the driving options menu when you have to pick MT & AT for example there will be a difficulty level: Easy being no damage cosmetically or mechanically, medium:cosmetic damage on your car as well as mechanical on every car and finally hard/expert which is full blown out damage.

shift... similar physics with GT5? HAHA, i guess you didn't see the yesterdays demo, game was lame as **** strange cocktail of GTR and NFS. Forza can **** right off with its SUVs...

gameplay of GT5 is what matters, and on that regard i have nothing but good things to say about this game.

You can't see the focus after the crash so who knows how it was damaged? So what that something didn't fall off.

A sound theory, but we need to get a good view of someone crashing into the Focus, as it's impossible to tell whether it's damaged from this video. Nothing comes off the Impreza either from the collision.

I admit the one thing that does bug me though is when the scoobie hit the ford and it didn't spin. Maybe it didn't hit it with enough force. But well I don't know.

Nope, you can definitely see the Focus had a little wobble. He was definitely the aggressor in the collision, as well. It looked incredibly realistic to me :)

No more pinballing off walls! :dopey:

Also, anyone else notice the boxes right at the end of the video? 👍

Damage or not, I still think the physics are too "bouncy". Just look at 0:17 from the gametrailers video. The car clearly bounces immediately after touching the wall. Do you guys think this is a part of the damage system aswell?

The only on-course things you could hit in GT4 were cones. And, if you skipped the pit lane entrance on the High Speed Ring and went in from the big gap on the start/finish straight, you could hit some pitcrew... no ragdoll or anything, you just pushed them out of the way really :P

In the Grand Canyon rally there were these four legged pieces that you could knock over.

Don't mind if the damage is purely cosmetic, looks pretty nice. Not too keen on the door/hood flapping about, they should either flap for a second and fall off or just crumple/deform and not detach at all.

Also, doesn't look like "wall-bouncing" has been nerfed enough. Clipping the wall should slow down the car a lot, that would encourage clean lines around corners.

Could do with some more gameplay videos. Keep up the good work poly.

I don't really care much about the damage etc...but...

I am starting to worry about the physics. Prologue had excellent physics and a joy to drive with the G25. For some reason I feel its been given a whole new physics system and will probably feel worse than prologue.

I hated GT4 physics, couldn't even do a donut in that game (but i still enjoyed the game). If GT5 has similar physics to GT4 that's when I'll be dissapointed and PD would be going backwards instead of forwards.

If Kazunori is there someone is bound to get an interview and he may give us a few more details. I love this damage system. For me this is a breakthrough for the GT world street car damage or not.

Took a few pics out of the first vid:

before the lancer crash:

Nice captures Timppaq. The bodywork damage is subtle (considering the impacts), but neet. But do I see that correctly in this pic, is there actually tyre deformation? On the front left tyre, the amount of rubber above the wheel seems a lot higher than below.
