With better res pics:

the same moment, but on reverse / acceleration. Download the both pics and switch fast forth & back.. you'll notice it.. :)

Maybe make a gif? :D
Looks like in one of the pics, the co-driver is looking for some lost coins. Throughout the video one can see that the co-driver looks up and down to his notes.

The barriers have been mentioned before. They are just like the cones from previous itterations. But I noticed that they interact with one-another during a hit. And that is quite new to the game. Or rather, I don't remember that in the older games car-hit-cones could move other cones. I might be ill-informed on this issue.

Edit: aligned the tires a little better, there does seem to be a little bit of deformation but i'm not so sure anymore...

That rally subaru is running on dirt tires?

I noticed that and I think is strange but the tires and rims seen to be for dirt surface not on-road.

Possibly a bug because the video is a sample of the future game. What do you think?

Lastly, it sounds like Porsche will not make it into Gran Turismo 5. As disappointing as this was for Kazunori, Porsche signed an exclusive arrangement elsewhere and will probably not be included. It looks like Porsche fans will have to wait.

Maybe RUF will make it back in?

Azerach, Thanks

But did you say what about the differences in the pics? .. (you edited it out of the post) ?

in the first one i had up, it seemed clear as day that the tyre was deforming.. after setting the other frame 1 pixel upwards, i wasn't so sure anymore.

Will have to take a look at the other replay videos to see if it actually is there, but it's going to be hard as we don't have direct feed footage at the moment which brings a whole lot of other variables that might affect what we see on the screen and might fool us into thinking that something is there while it might not be there :D

Another issue:
The videos show tearing, even in replays and with few cars on screen. I hoped they would be able to solve the GT5P performance problems.

Observations

RE:Timppaq's screenshots - The distance between the tyre and the wheel arch is distinctly smaller after the power is applied. The front wheel has turned 180deg(approx), but the rear is only 15 or375deg(approx), The front is turned , so there maybe even weight shift.
All this leads to is excellent physics - IMO

After the main barrier hit the car appears to be pulling to the left, making the driver meander the car down the track.

Error
There is two white words, at about 7 0'clock, on the rear tyre of 2nd shot, but only 1 in the 1st.

Might have to do with the interaction of the sceen refresh rate and the camera refresh rate the sceen was filmed with.

Here's a better look into what might be just us seeing thinks :D

On the right is the tyre under load:

to me there is something, because (use the lines as reference):

- on the right pic, the rim is a few pixels lower, regarding the grid lines
- at the same time the lowest part of the tyre is maybe a pixel or two higher on the right pic

--> the rubber part of the tyre is lower by n amount of pixels. Deformation? Might be just me seeing this.. :)

Above pics taken from these (for gif ;) ):

took these pics so that the "reference point" is the same.. (or as close as it can be)

Right well it is indeed only arcade mode being shown as Gamescom which is odd. Also the AI is apparently still bad, that said it's another translation job. This is from an artcile from 4players and they did not sounds impressed with GT5. Said it would need to do more to catch up to Forza.........

Some important stuff from that link:

- Some Parts don´t fall of.
- Car behaves different when damaged.
- Computer AI cars drive unfair, and do not take damage or slow down when the hit you.
- Only Arcade mode showed at GamesCom.
- No graphs showing what parts are damaged.
- The mirrors and windows cannot be damaged.

mirrors and windows make sense not to be able to be damaged as if they got damaged you couldnt use inside view properly

Well one video shows the bonnet/hood popping up after being damaged, after that's happened it'd be pretty hard to drive from interior view.

Is it just me or does it seem like the doors and bonnet pop open too easily? In a smash they doors MIGHT pop open, but they are just as likely (if not more likely) to get jammed shut, rather than randomly pop open.

Oh, man. I really think you're onto something, Timppaq.

It would be excellent if GT5 had fully simulated tyres, like in GPL. Taking inner, middle, and outer tyre temps, and adjusting the suspension settings and tyre pressures using that data...

I can't deny that theres definitely something showing in those shots timppaq, but like i said... we have to factor in that these are shakycam(c) photos with a few frames between them and we are going at them at pixel (subpixel almost) accuracy and definitive conclusions shouldn't be made until we get confirmation.

just trying to calm people off the hype :D

In a road car, yes (unless the car is exceptionally fragile - see Chinese crash tests). In a race car... no. With a roll cage in situ the frame becomes considerably harder to deform to preserve the safety cell. This makes the doors kind of a weak link - and with good reason! You don't want to be trapped in a recently crashed race car.

On most road cars at typical road speeds, everything stays in about the right place to allow the doors to open more easily after a crash for similar reasons. However the higher the road speed and the older the car the more likely everything is to warp and bend. If it warps a bit, the doors get jammed shut. If it goes all Chinese, all bets are off.
