To me physics look great. A grip like tarmac should have, but still not glued to the road.. but we do still need more vids ;)

Does anyone know what mode the person was playing in? I refuse to believe PD would allow damage cars race non-damage cars in anything but arcade mode. It simply has to be arcade mode the gameplay video is from otherwise it's a no buy.

I simply cannot comprehend a car which will fall apart race a seemingly invincible car. The facts about this game need to release soon otherwise it's not looking good.

Nice captures Timppaq. The bodywork damage is subtle (considering the impacts), but neet. But do I see that correctly in this pic, is there actually tyre deformation? On the front left tyre, the amount of rubber above the wheel seems a lot higher than below.
That's something I had in my mind. It does look like, but then we have to go into further speculation for the videos to come.

Arcade for sure.

If I were to guess, I would suppose this demo is equal to a quick race in arcade mode. PD surely wouldn't want to scare people away by superrealistic driving physics. And maybe the same goes for the damage.

Remember, on such a fair, 99% of people playing is casual crowd just having a blast for 3 minutes.

👍 i think the same.. arcade mode with standard physic and low damage. The only thing that bother me is the damage issue.. all cars? only wrc?.. will see

I think it looks fantastic, simple as!

The bodywork deforms, there are scratches, paint comes off, panels come off, what else really can we have?

Also we don't know the options, is damage cosmetic in that video? Sim or Pro?

Am just delighted to see it!

Totally agree...

The only piece of news I want now - is when it's going to be released!!

Hopefully Batman will last long enough to tide me over til it comes out!?

Well, if they announce that this week, it's going to feel like New Year's at a football stadium. :dunce:

Theres plenty of other stuff really,
Look at GTA IV for example, its not even a racing game for the most part but it has probably the best damage for cars Ive seen in a game(I include GRID in that),
why?
If you hit a lamp post at speed you can you can completley jam your wheel which will eventually blowout due to the friction, you can also blowout a tyre from doing a donught, scratches appear realistically and not just in set areas,

With all that said theres an unhealthy amount of speculation here and GT5 may prove to be the death of us all at this rate:scared:

Dunno tbh. But here's more fuel for the fire: :sly:

This is from a situation when the car collided and had to reverse.. (still reversing at this moment) ..so most of the weight is on the front wheels:

And this is a sec, or so later when the car starts to accelerate.. so most of the weight is on the rear wheels. You decide... but looks promising?

and btw, is that reverse light after all? :D (in the upper pic)

Promising indeed, I didn't need to have my eyes lasered to see it that clearly. 👍

Only just had chance to view the damage video but oh my word how exciting that was to watch.

I tell you what these videos are certainly getting everyone excited because i've lost count how many times i've read "I've got to get a PS3 for this". I don't mean to bring up forza but I bet Turn 10 are rather anxious at the moment. I was planning on buying both but if GT5 is released in Dec then I won't bother with forza.

Starting to wonder if this demo at Gamescom will appear on the PSN store??

With better res pics:

the same moment, but on reverse / acceleration. Download the both pics and switch fast forth & back.. you'll notice it.. :)

Maybe make a gif? :D

All kidding aside, Gran Turismo 5 feels real -- that's all there is to it. As I'm not a seasoned veteran of the franchise, I can't speak to the intricacies of the experience, but what I can confirm is that the game runs beautifully and the controls feel as pristine as ever. I was lucky enough to speak to Kazunori Yamauchi following my hands-on time and confirm a few bits of information that GT fans might be curious about. First: Kazunori was still unwilling to give a solid release date for Gran Turismo 5. Although, Kazunori explained, as Gran Turismo PSP is right around the corner, its upcoming PS3 counterpart shouldn't be too far away. That sounds like "sooner rather than later" to me.

The next detail Kazunori touched on was regarding damage models. I can confirm that not every car in Gran Turismo 5 will sport damage models -- it will only be select sets. However, Kazunori has yet to decide on a finalized list of featured car types for damage support.

Lastly, it sounds like Porsche will not make it into Gran Turismo 5. As disappointing as this was for Kazunori, Porsche signed an exclusive arrangement elsewhere and will probably not be included. It looks like Porsche fans will have to wait.

That's all from Cologne. Keep your eyes peeled for more GT goodness in the near future.

There you go not all cars will have damage. Game should be coming out soon though but details about the game sound so good.
