Great ideas will definetly consider them in the FDSC!

I like the idea, but I would, personally, be reluctant to implement some kind of points based system unless it was to be done on overall position. This would be because there are some drivers who would never stand a chance of getting the high places. For example, i'm quick, but im never going to be overall 1st. Not unless some of the aliens dont participate in a week and I am on top form.

Admittedly it would provide a better comparison week-on-week with your closer rivals (For example LMP and no1pal) who are constantly battling each other

Certainly something to think about

Just wanna say, a big 👍 to LMP on car choices for next week. Taken them both for a spin for some photos for next weeks comps and both of them give you that "Just one more lap!" itch. Just what this series needs. Nice one!

yeah, sure, upload em in a jiffy. only 4 (3 R8, 1 TVR) for now as was busy drifting etc (the R8 has a disappointing amount of understeer i find :indiff:)

EDIT: for the OP of week 5 LMP, the leaderboard link is https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtZwhhnVjEYTdG5KQ0lGelZYeXFOTHdORC0zai1qRUE

Driver: saidur_ali/saidur
Time: 1:42.208
Transmission: Manual (No clutch used)
Controller: wheel (G27)
ABS: 1

I would describe the lap as mediocre to poor all the way through which ended up being my fastest lap. I was going to restart as I lost quite a bit of time in the first corner but thought I will see what happens and have some fun. Most time loss is in sector two and three which I did not hook up at all. My best ever first sector was something like a 28.125 so I guess the fastest guys are doing something under the 28s.

Wow amazing lap, how are you so quick!?! My first sector PB is 28.4 how did you find so much more time? Anyway fantastic time with only 5 minutes to spare!

I'm a stickler for a yellow car :P although I went for Chameleon Orange. That coupled with the white leather interior

I am disappointed I made neither the top 5 or the top 10 this week, but there were some amazing laps put in on both sides! Congratulations if you got in to either top 5s or the top 10!

Check out the Week 5 thread in 'Gran Turismo 5' in the forums for next weeks challenge!

And don't forget the new FDSC which can be found in the same place, the TVR Tamora is a fantastic car to whizz around the ring in! and, better still, it'll only take you about 8 minutes! now that isn't bad is it?!

Ninja edit: centered the top 5s

Another great week of racing has come to a close! Week 5 has now gone live, check it out under the 'gran turismo 5' section of forums!

Well done everyone! 👍

The photoshop skills leave much to be desired, but here's some advertising for you!

Agreed. It depends on the car but some cars can actually be easier to drive on crappier tires. Usually the very tail happy, hard to control cars like the ones you mentioned, lancia stratos, lp640 and lotus elise. The reason is mainly that the lower grip of those tires mean you'll be driving much slower when you lose grip, and therefore it will be much easier to recover. It's the same reason you don't see people drifting on racing softs. On higher grip tires, if you lose grip, you would probably be going so fast that it can be very difficult or impossible to recover, so cars like the lambo LP640, or Ruf yellow bird are actually harder to drive on racing tires than comfort tires. Just try the stupid Grand Tour in the special events, do the race at toscana road course with the lambo lp640, and you'll see what I mean, that cars much harder to drive on racing mediums than it is on sports hard or comfort hard

Heavy, understeer prone cars are harder to drive on comfort hards though. Any car that's difficult to keep on the road will be tougher to drive on comfort hard, like the audi rs6 avant, BMw m5, any truck, Leno's Tank Car, or maserati GT are really heavy and are tough to drive with comfort hards because they don't have the turning ability to match their straight line speed.
Driving on racing tyres is fun too. You can just attack the race track. The Toscana Grand Tour LP640 event, I had great fun throwing that car around the track, hardest part was being able to see in the dark from what I remember though. I can see what you are saying but I wouldn't really say it is harder, maybe a bit easier in certain parts as you don't lose as much time through poor traction. When you have certain high speed moments it may be harder to recover though but it has been a while since I drove a tail happy car on racing softs.

Handbrake helps solve understeer prone cars for me or if permitted, a brake bias change helps solve the issue.

OK8
I agree with you completely. Comfort hards really hilight understeer and very tail happy cars like the Yellowbird are always possible to drive it's just up to the driver, but with understeery cars there's not much you can do.

I also agree with why low grip driving is more fun, with racing softs it's difficult to recover at such high speed and the driving experience in general is more boring.

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=239329 here's some hotlaps I did a while ago (including Yellowbird). Most are driven by me but a couple are by others.
I made a video of the F10 with minimum downforce on Comfort Hards. Very understeery (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JJMCqZmtj2A). You can normally defeat understeer and the top drivers in GT like Dan and Tony can make the car behave how they want on the limit and keep it there for the whole lap or potentially most of race distance.

Ran a session finally, achieving a 1'41.212, vindicating beyond a doubt the time of misunderstood (tony1311), great run mate! Will have another run tomorrow to fine tune technique (drift or no drift, some corners drift works others, it unsettles the car a little bit). 40.8 or .9 is there for me personally, a 39, as mentioned by saidur, is not within the realms of possibilities.
The 39 was based on this post: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=6872278#post6872278

Awesome lap by the way and I see you got yourself a HD PVR 👍 Any chance you can post your splits again? Thanks in advance if you do.

Wow amazing lap, how are you so quick!?! My first sector PB is 28.4 how did you find so much more time? Anyway fantastic time with only 5 minutes to spare!

Thanks although I would say amazing and quick are not the words I would use to describe the lap. Maybe the word clumsy I would use especially compared to say Dan's lap and I underperformed quite a bit but never really managed to get a good run on this event and get into a rhythm. A few minutes here and there today. I could probably improve I would say potential 0.5-1 second without driving that accurately but I guess I'm in Prost territory with my current time.

About first sector, well first corner is important as well as the next two corners after that and it is good to drive without sliding and trying to get best traction and maintaining speeds through corners. I never nailed it as that would have put my best first sector time under the 28s.

Good job everyone who came close to their personal targets or even beat them 👍.

@NJ72

There is a 't' missing in fortnightly unless I'm missing something in that image above.

Why don't you guys join WRS instead? :sly:
Also, directed to someone saying something about WRS qualifying telling who's the fastest... no, that doesn't work like that. Yes Timppaq's fast (and that's not the point), he's bloody fast but you mustn't forget Eclipsi (imo the fastest) and DHolland (by far the most victorious), those 3 are the fastest on GTP so you can't single-out only 1.
I have faster qualifier time than DHolland, Mad94d, RudiRaser and Eclipsi just to name a few... but, I'm not faster than any of the forementioned drivers, hence qualifier times don't show who's fastest. As Zocker_16 said - there should be a Platinum division for players like that. :)
