week 5 driving skill competition - R8 @ GVS

Man, I hate understeer. Or rather, I find understeer to be quite the challenge.

One thing I don't like about this track is that the run-up is too short, so you can't just hit restart, if you bone the first corner.

Stacking your laps is best on this track, IMO. Even if you mess up keep going. I'm at least 4 mph faster after my first lap at the s/f line.

only had time to run two laps and this was the second, so obviously still room for improvement but it felt very clean. will be interesting to see how (un)competitive my time is!

I had a weird moment on one of my laps gunning it out of the last turn, and i could have sworn all 4 tires were on the grass (only barely) but i careened back onto the straight without a red time or any penalties going extremely quick. Anyone else had any funny moments with corner cutting?

Update: I got a better handle on the car and track today. I found I was losing tons of time on the entry into the first tunnel and the exit of the second. I had to ease up and let the car flow gently into the corner exits to get better speed. It pays not to turn in too hard with this car.

It took me 36 laps to figure that out. Always was a slow learner...

I'm not getting on too well with this one, there's so much more in it but I keep setting mid 2:05s on the first lap and then getting slower and slower and slower

Re-posting from FDSC thread, some suggestions for next weeks WDSC;

380RS Super Leggera at Autumn Ring on SM (or SH)

Or, how about something with less power?

RX7 Spirit R at Madrid on SH
Renaultsport Megane or Golf GTI somewhere on CM

Or even, Camaro SS in heavy rain at Monza (100%/100%) on SH The weight means it's not too difficult to handle. I think 0 changeability will ensure that the surface water level won't drop/change, although I'm not totally sure.

Hehe, don't think I've got the nerves of steel to push it through the entire Nordschleife.
Anyways, I'll upload yes but one question - everything is track? I used the concrete run-offs too in my lap, read somewhere that aslong as the lap counts it's clean.

Yeah thats clean in my book on when on GVS. Nordscheifle is so tough, one wheel on the grass and thats your lap blown. 👎 cant wait to see you lap 👍
