I dunno as I've never touched those figures, but -1 in 480 & 484 seem to give you a new engine that still needs to be broken in.

Where's Famine when you need him?

And 452bhp gives you 2.500pwr. I get 452 with just stage 1 NA and a port polish and the car is run-in.

EDIT: The replay theatre gives you the figure without oil. You have to use the garage or car settings screen to get the real figure. If you are over 452, you are illegal.

In Sheffield. I've run a whole 4.7 miles on this challenge, and won't do any more until tomorrow night/Monday night.

Hey hey! Free publicity! Cheers Max :D

480=-1
484=-1
Gives you a showroom engine - not yet broken in.

Thanks Famine. Can you tell me what values I should use for a broken in engine? Right now I'm trying to figure it out myself with MK and about 6 RGTs, and I've very, very confused  :D

Also, lines, 480 and 484 are the oil - 488 is the shine, correct?

Right you are... :D I'm 250 miles away from my Xport... :D

Offhand I don't know what to use for a pre-broken-in engine. I can find out if you'd like (but it won't be until tomorrow evening).

hey famine, thanks.

If you can find that value for me, I'd really appreciate it.

I'm assuming that what I want is the value for line 480 from a car that has been bought and run to 300 km (200 miles on NTSC) (the first time the oil light comes on) but not any further. That way I'll have a car that has max hp, but hasn't started to deteriorate yet, correct?

I'm also guessing that the "broken-in" value will be the same for every car?

Here's the values from mine. 336km

480=-1192070357
484=931048536

thanks daan,

336 sounds good :)

I went digging around in some old game saves from my first time through GT3, and found an NSX with 308 Km on it:

480=-1174773316

I'm gonna wait to hear what Famine's got to say, him being the authority on this sort of thing and all, then I'm going to start a new thread just for this stuff, since there isn't one to explain it already :D

Tried the Beetle RSi, thought I had found a sleeper, almost did. Maybe with a lot of tuning it could be up there but I don't have the patience for it.

RGT looks like for me as well...

Luxy

You can not do what you have stated. In the original directions to the race, all tuning exept mks was allowed.
Only getting the car through mks is allowed, no changes.

Plus, I think you should write ub57 about this...

We did a diablo series in which the power and setup were very specific. 579 hp. (put it at about 2.3 pwr)

Anyway, we couldn't change the oil (If I remember correctly).

I am going out on a limb here, but it may be possible that mks merely adds the milage and oil status to your normal car. Much like putting a turbo on an na car, the na value remains, but the turbo is also present.

So it may be possible that all you did was put a new milage and oil on top of a still non-broken in engine. Then when you changed the oil, it did the usual, dealer fresh oil/hp bump.

Bottom line,
Tuning through mks manipulation is not allowed.

Just went and checked... the exact words in the directions were "hybriding." This term was used in substitution of the more elequent "mks manipulation."
Sorry for the confusion, but I want to make it clear that power changes through mks are not allowed.

However, if you are strapped for cash and you need to put normal availible parts on a vehicle, then you may use mks.

However, changing power through means of re-writing the oil code is not allowed.
Im sorry, but this is to avoid what happened to you... regardless of the mks god's abilities (famine), there will always be room for error.

So to make it clear... do not modify your car's power through mks.
Only use mks to obtain the car and equip the car's proper parts.

Alright, GoKents. My mistake. I've been going under the assumption that a car being "broken in", was a simple setting to change in MKS that would not be particularly manipulable. But doing some research today into trying to find out what the "broken in" value should be, I'm realizing that it's a pretty messy (i.e. easy to add power unintentionally) change.

I interpreted "hybriding" as meaning "changing the car in mks to put settings/parts outside of what's possible in the game". Since a car being broken in in the game is a valid, legal value, I assumed (incorrectly) that changing the oil values to match a broken in car would be ok.

My intent wasn't to cheat. I just wanted to try and avoid running in 3-4 different cars, so that I'd have the time to try a variety of cars out fully.

So, from this point, I'm starting from scratch. I'm going to sell the cars that I've modified this week, and run in new ones. Damn, I wish I had asked about this sooner. :irked:

Sorry dude, and you are totally right... I should have used a different term from hybriding. Your definition is correct, it was my error that led to the misconception.

Glad your willing to work with it, but hey... expect an e-mail alright. ;)

But dude, I need you to send me your email address.. trust me. :D

Tell you what emp... I will put in a second un-official time after the intial results go up. (It wouln't be in the results post)

I will run something like an rx7 or an nsx.

That is, if I find the time... sorta working on school work right now and just don't have the disipline to leave the gtp...:banghead:

I can finally run a Weekly Race because I completed the F1 Championship today.:D Can we run our choice of tires or do we have to run a certain compound? ;)

I am little disapointed that the RGT seems to be the vastly superior car. I was hoping for more variety with the restrictions but nothing else seems to be able to put the power down like the RGT can.

Though some cars do have exploitable potential and are easier to drive. I'm still really disapointed that the Beetle RSi and 156 did'nt live up to my expectations.

After 5 laps of testing in my Nissan 350Z, here are my sector times:

T1- 22.330
T2- 50.495
T3- 1:03.925

More testing will follow. ;)

So.....

All week I have been watching lap times drop and more people go for the RUF RGT. I must admit I'm a touch shocked. I thought more people would jump for the Japanese cars...the Hondas, the Mazdas, the Nissans....maybe one or two would go for the Germans. Now I consider the RUFs my favorite (and the best) cars in GT3 by far...the 3400s is amazing the RGT is perfection and the CTR can be setup to be amazing. I probably have double the miles in an RGT than any other car in GT3. It is by far my best car, with the 3400s being second.

Now my natural reaction when i see everyone going one direction (here to the RGT) is to go the opposite way. Maybe that is the loner/anti-social person in me. But with this race there is no way I can passup running my two favorite cars, even if everyone else is.

From day 1, last Tuesday, I jumped striaght to the RGT knowing it was the overly obvious choice for the week. Since then I have tried the Mazda RX-7, Rx-8, Clio, NSX (the one GoKents says), Nissan Z, RUF 3400s, TVR Tuscan, RUF RGT... Like I even had to try all of those I knew the RGT was the car. The 3400s is next for me and the TVR Tuscan is actually pretty fast for me, however both are 2+secs off my RGT times.

Ontop of that next to Cote...Apricot Hill is my best/favorite circuit in GT3....a week made JUST for me....

So ya, I'm running red RUF RGT this week!

252bhp, 2.500pw/r

Best clean lap thus far
T1 21.552
T2 48.724
T3 1'01.917

That lap is well below my goal for the week AND I feel I still have some time left in me.....

I love this car!

Ran some more laps with the 3400S, and improved my best dirty time with a clean lap. But the funny thing is all my sectors are slightly slower than the slower dirty lap!

I've switched to the Lotus 350 which seems to be working well for me. However, my lap times are really slow this week and I have no idea why. I'm completely behind almost every single person here. I don't know if it is poor car setup, control or just bad driving.

Rather frustrated here...:(

Alright, couldn't get in anymore rgt runs. :(

But I did manage to fufill my word to emperor... ran the NSX Type S Zero to a 1'01.9 in an alright lap. (could be faster if I just had the time.)

Unfortunately, I haven't had much time thanks to a speech I have to go memorize for monday night, so until something new develops... Later. :D

Oh yeah, gonna take the 350 out in a few minutes here... will let you all know how I do with that. ;)

Since your having trouble fox...
Just for a starting point. (you will have to fine tune since this is an initial setup for a 3 lap trial run on the lotus 350)

6.0/13.5
94/94
10/10
10/10
2.0/1.0
0/0
3/5
19/19
10/40/20
stock tranny setting
asm 0
tcs 1

Now believe it or not, this thing made me really want to get in my rgt... 1'01.2 on my second lap in the Lotus 350

So um, yeah... that's the lotus at the moment. Now Ive just gotta get that rgt going around the track with such ease... damn that lotus was nice. :D

Thanks for the settings Max, my time improved dramatically.

The fastest dirty time I've seen is 1'00.2. I have a clean save with 1'00.6 that may be what I submit. I know there is still some room for improvement.

I usually do not have so much trouble finding a setup to work with but I'm all over the place it seems. A lot of the settings I've seen used over the past few weeks just seem completely counter-intuitive to a real car setup...and I think I still need to get past the fact that it is a game.

grrowl is all i can say

Agreed. From my point of view it's all black magic. What gets me about the RGT is the spring stiffness. Why is it so good to have the springs so loose up front and so stiff in back?

I have a lot to learn about tuning.

GT3Emp... those 1'00.5 I already had wasn't from a "record" lap... just a T3 I saw... in fact, I didn't have a record lap saved until earlier today, hoping ot get that last 0.500 off.

I now have SEEN (no save yet)
0'20.515
0'46.965 (corrected, appears dislexia set in :))
1'00.129

I know that about a WHOLE second could come out of the current time... but that would require WAY too much running.
