Just as I thought I was done with the oscillation issue. Propably have to skip the group c as I really dont want to break my wheel..
Been skipping gr1/2 for…heck, over a month now.

Its just ridiculous how the physics update this time around was some ev charging issue.

Anyone who thinks pd caters to wheel users is way off base.

The amount of time this has gone on for is absurd.

And that they’ve brought in all of these gr1/2 races since introducing these massive oscillations(on straights) is pretty annoying as well.

PD’s kinda looking like Fanatec last year around this time. Ugh

Week is completed, once again.

1) Jimny Cup @ Grand Valley South

Tested the new Sierra for this race, stock wasn't good enough since it is way underpowered in the final straight so I could only manage P4. Used the 17,5k prize to buy the Sport performance parts and a set of new wheels and tried again, this time it was a nice and well fought win. No CRB, AI is too erratic with the Jimnies and this wasn't enough of an interesting race to try again.

2) Japanese Clubman Cup 550 @ Tokyo Expressway South

The fun Tokyo layout. Randomizer gave me the Impreza WRX Type R as the designated car, but my only one is a 600pp Praiano-tuned one which obviously turned out to be an overkill. But it's a great car to drive regardless so it was fun. No CRB, hate the walls.

3) WTC 600 @ Catalunya Rallycross

How did I miss this race all this time? This was genuinely fun, no way to obtain a CRB as it feels like a pure RX event with a lot of paint exchanging, but it was really an interesting and different race, if only for the close grid start. I was tasked to use the Evo Final Gr.B Road Car and I couldn't resist putting one of my VR38 engines from the Bonanza days in it; it wasn't the best of choices though as this race is mostly tight and slow, and the massive Nismo engine suffers a bit at low regimes. Still, managed to win with ease, but I will definitely try this race a bit more in the future with different cars. The Evo will get tuned to 700pp and pay itself back at LM eventually.

4) Porsche Cup @ Lago Maggiore GP

Time to try the newly added Turbo S, it seems. Completely stock on SH, just with a set of BBS wheels since I don't like the stock ones, it is a bit messy of a drive but that's definitely on me and not on the car. I did get the hang of it eventually and it was definetly more than enough capable of winning, however I spun at the very last corner of the very last lap due to my smartphone distracting me (forgot to put it on Do Not Disturb mode) and ended P2. It's fine.

5) The World Group C Championship @ Le Mans (no chicane)

And now for the main event. Was tasked to do it with the 787B, all I had was an 800pp setup just unrestricted with full power and no ballast. It was more than enough to win, cruising past opponents at 370 kmh on the Hunaudieres in what was indeed some good racing. Would love to actually try the 787B in a full unrestricted tune though, if anyone knows one please let me know 😁

Is this oscillation also problem in fanatec DDs? Or DDs in general? I have a sneaking idea they might be playing some corporate games with these "issues".

I love the Special Event @ Le Mans with no chicane, and noticed there are not any events in career or such with the "no-chicane" this needs to be corrected in future.
I ran all five of my Group C cars and had a blast. For an additional challenge I turned off my HUD completely and ran my races from cockpit view as to be as close to the way it was. (No I don't have the VR nor a wheel setup either)
Here is a few pictures of my laps.

I really enjoyed it as well, albeit after a few futile attempts in a stock Gr. C car and some inane driving from the AI. There's no way a real driver would do what the AI does while at over 200 mph on the Hunaudieres straight, and it led to me shouting a few very loud expletives.

I can't help wonder why these events are a) not permanent, b) haven't been in since Day 1 and c) not just that tiny bit better (fuel/tyre use etc.), because even without these things, they are great. I also love the realistic liveries, though again I don't see why they can't use real liveries (and indeed they have in a few cases, e.g. the Mobil 1 NSX and the Alfa DTM #8 (or whichever one is not the standard livery).

Either way, however, it's an epic event, and I hope it comes up at least as regularly as those ******* Jimny events.

Hah.

My conspiracy corporate bingo card has sony implementing full force with a quarter of the corsair acquisition.

However, i think the logi people have the same issue. The more this persists the more i believe its some deep fundamental flaw which they just can’t figure out. Or which needs a huge rewrite which is taking forever. I mean…july -> December is a long time to be rocking peoples expensive kit

Updated my post...

Got these done this morning (normal difficulty). Let's see if I can remember how they went...

weekly-challenge-202411w4-r1.jpg

Grand Valley - Suzuki Jimny Sierra JC '18 - I upgraded the tires to SS, but left the car otherwise stock. It took me until the final lap to take the lead for the win. Driving at night was a fun change. First ticket achieved.

weekly-challenge-202411w4-r2.jpg

Tokyo Expressway - Honda NSX Type R '92 - This car just felt great at this track. I really enjoyed driving it. I upgraded to SS tires, as usual, but no other changes. Easy win. Second checkmark achieved.

weekly-challenge-202411w4-r3.jpg

Catalunya - Subaru WRX STI Type S '14 - I don't enjoy this track in the slightest. The car was fine. No modifications. I could only make it to P2. Good enough for the next ticket. I have no interest in trying again for a win.

weekly-challenge-202411w4-r4.jpg

Lago Maggiore - Porsche 911 GT3 RS (991) '16 - I tried to put SS tires on, but that put it over the PP limit. I stuck with the SM ones. That was plenty. The car just blasted past everything. It was only because I made a few mistakes. Easy win for the fourth checkmark.

weekly-challenge-202411w4-r5.jpg

Le Mans - Sauber Mercedes C9 '89 - This took a couple attempts. In the first, I went with the stock RM tires. That was only enough for P5. On the second attempt, I upgraded to RS tires. That cut a couple seconds of my lap and made all the difference. On the final lap, I caught the leader and was side-by-side on the Mulsanne Straight. Sadly, I went into the Mulsanne Corner too hot and ended up in the sand, which meant I had to settle for P2. Good enough for the final ticket, but I'm definitely going to go back and try again for a win. It is an enjoyable race, for sure.
