On the GTP account, I bought a third RE Amemiya for future engine purposes and the three new Hagerty's cars (1970 Citroen DS 21 Pallas, 1973 Porsche 911 Carrera RS and 1965 Honda RA272). With the last 2 purchases, I won a second SF19/Honda, which I off-loaded for a mere 298,290 Cr., and a 5-star Wheel of Despair, which turned into a Honda NSX Gr.4 that I didn't already have on this account.
I then decided to take on Sophy, starting at Tsukuba. The Beginner race was a romp for me, done in 3:14 and a 9.9-second win over Violette. Interestingly, there was a clean race bonus to be had. I barely held off Violette on intermediate with a slower time of 3:22 (with a CRB), and finished 1.1 seconds behind Violette in 2nd on Expert with a time of 3:25 (again with a CRB). I got smoked by Violette in the 1-vs-1 battle by 6.2 seconds.
At Alsace, the Beginner race was another romp (4:16, 17.0-second clean win over Violette). The Intermediate was a nail-biter (4:34, 0.7-second clean win over Violette). The Expert was a 0.2-second clean loss to Violete in 4:34. The 1-vs-1 "battle" wasn't - I lost by 16.8 seconds.
At Trial Mountain, the Beginner race was less of a romp (4:03, 9.3-second clean win over Violette). It took a few aborted runs at Intermediate to get a nail-biter (4:11, 1.2-second unclean win over Violette). I did another couple aborted runs at Expert before taking a 2.2-second clean loss to Violette in 4:15. Again, the 1-vs-1 "battle" wasn't - she smoked me by 18.2 seconds.
At Suzuka, the Beginner race was another romp after relearning the track and car (6:05, 10.4-second clean win over Violette). Once I stopped making rookie mistakes, Intermediate was another romp (6:08, 7.8-second clean win over Violette). I actually held off Violette on Expert (6:19, 0.1-second clean win). She got her revenge in the 1-vs-1 battle by 8.3 seconds.
After all that, the 4-star Wheel of Despair chucked out a lowest-possible 10,000 Cr. Some things never change. One thing that did change was my version of the progression bug - the Monza Hyper Car event (not run clean in the Ferrari FXX K) and the Mount Panorama American Clubman Cup (run uncleanly in a RH-equipped Chevrolet Camaro ZL1, with a punt from the rabbit) finally registered the wins.
On the Plus account, I bought all 5 new cars (the three Hagerty's and the two Italdesign VGTs). I didn't have the McLaren MP4/4, so I only got the 5-star Wheel of Despair, which awarded the middle-showing/lowest-possible 100,000 on an all-cash wheel.
Next, I did the Grand Valley Circuit Experience. The first 2 sectors weren't bad, but the third and full-course gold times were tough nuts to crack. The insulting 4-star Wheel of Despair chucked out a low-showing 30,000 Cr.
I started with the new races, not at Grand Valley, but at Laguna Seca, and the Sunday Cup Classic. After finding the Honda Fit Hybrid too modern and overpowering, and the stock Honda S800 not quite powerful enough, I dug out the Mini-Cooper S I used for the Goodwood Clubman Cup Plus race, put the CH tires back on and took off the custom suspension, custom LSD, power restrictor, ballast and nitrous. That left the sports air filter, sports muffler, sport brake system, sport brake pads, semi-racing clutch/flywhee and weight reduction 1, giving me 295.23 PP, 71 HP@6700 rpm, 59.5 ft-lb@5200 rpm and 1195 lb. Drumont in the Citroen and I were side-by-side from the Corkscrew on lap 2 to the finish line, and I nipped him by 0.069 seconds, finishing not-cleanly in 4:27.885.
I then went back to Grand Valley for the Japanese Clubman Cup 550 in the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution IV I previously tuned for the other Clubman Cup Plus events. I turned the power down a bit to get back to under 550 PP, and barely beat Kondo's R34 to the flag in 5:32, while missing out on the CRB.
Next, I took out the Chevrolet Corvette C4 that I previously built for the earlier Historic Sports Car Masters for the Grand Valley edition of the race. I held off Serrano and his Lamborghini Miura by 1.5 seconds, winning in 7:00. Again, no CRB.
After that, I grabbed the Nissan R32 GT-R that had been doing duty at Tokyo until the easy CRB was taken away for the WTC 600. Again, it wasn't clean, and again, it was too close, but my 10:45 was good enough to beat Blazsan and his 2001 Porsche 911 GT3 to the line by .3 seconds.
The penultimate race was the American Sunday Cup 600, done with the Chevrolet Corvette C7. It was my first clean win, a 5.2-second romp over Solis in the 2002 Dodge Viper, in 6:54.
Finally, I grabbed the Mazda LM55 Gr.1, kept the Suzuka tune on it, and barely won a dirty no-stop (mostly on FM5) Gr.1 Prototype race (16:34, 1.7 seconds ahead of Wilk in the Peugeot L750R HYbrid
