What did you do in GT7 today?

I got gold on almost all the missions, but realized I will never get the 2 last gold cars, because of the drift missions.
I hate them. Feels so random and luck to even get silver. I got gold in the viper at Daytona somehow and couldn’t replicate it. I only need the one at Tsukuba and will never do it again.

I’ve only really drifted in arcade games like dirt or forza horizon when forced to, so I’m not really interested in learning how to in Gran Turismo either.

All gold on International A licence to win the Alpine and a bit more grind. Mixing it up between my Corvette Zr1, Mk.2 Viper and GT350 on the Pan-Am Championship, and chucked my little 227bhp Clio into the WTC600 Championship - won the series with a 1, 1, 2, only losing out to the Supra at the final corner of Dragon Trail. Blitzed everything in the wet at Red Bull Ring!

Agree. There's not much joy to be had from the drift missions in GT7. I used to really enjoy the lairy drifting in NFS and Crew2 (and actually quite enjoy GT's rally elements), but my GT7 drift efforts are just a few stunted, wobbly slides, desperately trying to keep it on the tarmac and hoping they add up to enough to bag the bronze. Painful.

After getting gold on all missions and licenses a week and a half ago, I've taken a break from circuit experience until they improve payouts on it.

Today I ran a couple of the Ferrari Challenge events (my current favorites), got a 4 star ticket (30K creds :bleh:) and bought the Lamborghini Miura Prototype.

I did a 3H endurance run with the Miura last night, great car!

Tuned up, reaches a bit over 320 kph on the straight. I added a rear spoiler for downforce, it has no option for front down force so be careful at Flugplatz and Schwedenkreuz

Against GR.4 easy win, although the AI likes to dance around you during the race. The AI is very social lol

Probably no endurance race tonight, I'm enjoying the manu N24 race. A bit too easy in B/S with all the laps under my belt. I won the first two with 3 stars (pole, fl, crb) for 137K per victory, fuel saving, no stop. Next I'm not going to qualify and see how that goes :)

Took the Ferrari F430 '06 out for the World GT Series, maxes out with 657HP,755PP, so not overly fast but great handling even with 0 TC, managed to get 3 clean, recommended list for sure!

Finally pulled off the Menu 39 WTC. 3-1-1-2-2 landed me in first place overall, so no more Chariots of Fire!

Made a few fantasy Super Taikyu liveries because my livery skills are nowhere near good enough to actually replicate the real ones. Basically just added the appropriate branding, a number and the driver name 😄

Some hours in B-Spec mode, then bought enzo n mercedes slr.

Did a custom race, nur nord 1 lap, slr vs 300 sl, wait in grid 2m but i catch the rabbit at mid circuit, not like gt4.

After a few frustrating attempts over several days of getting the S-10 laps with the controller I finally decided to have a crack with my wheel... job done :D

After doing the Manu races on N24 I still wanted more, so took the Porsche 356 for a 2h run around the ring.

I tuned it up to reach a bit of 220 kph on the straights, not quite enough to beat GR.4, but competitive enough. The car is super stable, you can throw it around the track without any problems. Easy to catch when it breaks out but it rarely does with plenty tire squeal as warning before she goes. A lot of fun to push it to the limit, sounds great, feels made for the track.

The game tricked me again with the rain. Apparently it's also possible the rain spawns, yet misses the track entirely

Thus I was the 'idiot' looking at the weather radar, getting intermediates on and sliding around a dry track for multiple laps

The rain did eventually show up

The rain put me in first for a while, the cars in front of me decided not to pit despite the rain already filling up the track. They can drive normal until 2 bubs are filled and apparently don't bother to pit as a result. Yet after the rain meter hit 2 bubs they all slowed down to 90kph.

The cars behind me did pit, then magically closed a 1:30 gap on my during 1 lap. D.Renard there 45 seconds behind before pitting (I already had IM and drove on) came flying by me in first third of lap 10 after passing 8 other cars along the way. His buddies followed and eventually I ended up in 4th. Once they passed me they slowed down again but the Porsche can't out pace them on the straight.

Great night on the ring!

Yesterday, ground the truck around Daytona for about 640,000 Cr, then bought an RX-7 FD, grudgingly. I can't believe that little neener costs 150,000 more than the RE Amemyia tune! An update really needs to change that. Put some sport softs on it and it accounted itself well around Deep Forest where it was within a split second of the Supra '20, I think 1:39.7xx. I'm within the top 10% of GT7 racers but 9% or so down from the aliens.

Then I tried the Trial Mountain WTC600 event with my highly tuned - thanks Praiano - Skyline R32 where I finished a distant 4th. Tried again and finished 3rd. Decided Hard was too hard after I noticed I was competing against supercars and went to Normal, finished 2nd 0.2 seconds behind a Porsche 996. Tried once more and made 1st. Did it once more because it was good clean fun and made 2nd again. The Skyline is super, well planted even on sports tires, adjusted just a bit to suit me.

I haven't played GT7 properly in days. I experimented with different missions though. The reason why I haven't played is because my 20+ Year old Fanatec CSR Elite pedals are fit for retirement. Theres play in the brake pedal and even when I take my foot off the brake pedal it registers as the brake pedal being pressed about 1mm. The pedal set was working perfectly with the Basherboard CPX Adapter to connect them to my T300 for a few years but its only recently the brake pedal has started playing up. The only to stop the pedal registering that its being pressed is to pull it towards me with the back of my foot when I release it and its very distracting when driving.

So I ordered the T-LCM Pedals last thursday on AMAZON (The Thrustmaster website refused to take my money no matter what payment type I tried). I received the pedals on Tuesday this week. Immediately when I opened the shipping box I saw that the T-LCM Pedal set box was not sealed with a few small tears. When I took the pedals out the pedal faces were adjusted , the Pedal spacers that were supposed to come with them were missing and the Spring adjustment kit was missing. So I immediately contacted AMAZON for a replacement because when I ordered the pedals I ordered a new set not a USED set. So I am now waiting for the replacement pedals.

I'' be back to grinding the final championship and testing various cars in it along with doing most missions soon I hope.

Great night on the ring!
Gorgeous interior!

Tuned the 86, did some time trials on tsukuba then hopped in a casual Nordschleife lobby and did some togue racing with the other JDM bois

Busy day:
  • Finished that Clubman Cup race at Goodwood and spend some time making the Mini look cool.
  • Then I bought the Clio V6 which was disappointingly sluggish.
  • Bought a Super Formula car for a bit of practice, but still can't get near a gold time around Laguna Seca.
  • Entered the Nations Cup - qualified 2nd, finished 2nd. Assume my Clio is faster than everyone else's because it has loads of stickers 😀
  • Am now skint so need to do some more grind...

I was playing Moby Dick missions.

Managed gold all until The Pass at Fuji.
This one drives me crazy - when I come near first two, I don't manage to get slipstream to them, and second car, who finishes first, gets slipstream and they fade away at finish straight...
Last two corners are just not something that I can do precise and fast, and that is key here.

However, I have better time then few players from my leaderboard that finished first.
Tomorrow is new day, but I'm not satisfied because I tried hard to get all golds today.

The wind speed and direction (mostly direction) can affect the outcome of this event. Try going in and out of the event a few times and see if you have any better luck. I don't remember which direction worked for me, but I think it was one that was going opposite the driving direction on the straight in the early part.

That was a pain in the ass to figure out. The key is the last corner. You need to exit it perfectly and catch the slipstream behind the second car, this way you have just enough speed to pass them and finish first.
