Started the morning with the Jag F type Gr4 on 30 mins le mans. 6 star roulette for my daily workout and a Ford GT LM spec II test car! Instantly took it to 60 mins of Spa, luckily haf a dry race cause I forgot to buy some wet tyres first, absolutely love the car! Back to Le Mans with it and a run at Sardenga.

Stopped for a break now and a Friday afternoon trip to the pub.

After not playing GT7 for a week after I lost my progress in menu book 38. I tried it agin and I came in 2nd this time out sooo I didn't fell like doing the rest of the Ferrari collection so I just bought the 308 and 459. I started the GT World series came in 3rd on Deep Forest. I was moving through the moving blockades on the 2nd lap and one of the blockades moved in front of me while we were in the tunnel and I couldn't stop in time so I ran into the back of him and spun out and dropped like three spots. I recovered to finish 3rd but after that I turned off the game. I will probably play again tonight but the sorry AI and online saves are starting to irritate me.

Sorry to hear you lost your progress.
Polyphony needs to add a save button in-game similar to GT Sport... I hate having to close the game, hoping it doesn't crash my PS5 (going on 5X since launch) and sync the cloud save (only available with PS+🤦‍♂️)

Sony is showing they need a lot of work in GAAS :(

I appreciate that I normally enjoy GT7. I don't have a lot of time to play so whenever I lose progress like that I kind of sour on the game. I think once I finish the menu book 39 I will be okay

Made a wee miscalculation on a car I hadn't driven yet. Entered the black Gr3 GTR in the 4 chilli Gr3 Daytona night race. Decided on a 1 pit on RH with no tire change. The race was mine until the last lap when the tires magically gave up and I went wide into the grass. Decided to draft as best i could and of course, at THAT point the AI decided to fight for their positions tooth and nail and gave me zero opportunity to pass. I ended up having no choice but to sit in for 6th lol. And of course, the wheel of misfortune handed me 5,000.

Last night, I tried the 24mins of Le Mans mission twice. I came somewhat close to getting gold each time, but I think I just need to be more careful in the rain, as I spun out on both attempts.

I’m also still dead set on using the Audi R18 ‘11 that I bought for the scapes trophy. It may be a diesel hybrid and not an electric hybrid, but it can still avoid un-needed pitstops for fuel in this event, as I only feel like I need to pit once. (Besides, when it starts to rain, I’ll need to change to intermediates anyway.) Granted, I still need to crank the FM all the way to 6, and even short-shift a bit on top of that, but I’d still say I would definitely gotten gold on the second attempt if I hadn’t spun out in the rain.

Other than that, I bought a Silvia K’s that was in Used Cars, as I really like the Lime Green two-tone. As for the M3 ‘89, I think I’d rather wait for it to come in black.

EDIT: Also, for the mission, you can absolutely start on Racing Softs, as they won’t be too worn down by the time you need to pit for both fuel and for tires that are better for the rain.

EDIT2: Another important piece of advice! If you’re doing what I’m doing, and you’re using the Audi R18 ‘11, be sure to buy and install the medium-RPM turbo, as you won’t have any chance without it. I tried to do this mission before I realized the turbo was an option, and I ended up well over a minute behind the leader.

I went into the FR race at the Nurburgring circuit with the TVR speed six. There was heavy rain and it was comical. It was like driving on ice. As soon as I breathed on the throttle, steering or brakes, the rear was getting loose. The AI was also having issues. I restarted at the end of the 2nd lap after my trial of turning TCS down to 0.

Was trying cars around Interlagos in the Dailies, just qualifying at the moment.
Tried the usual suspects and couldn't get fast enough, hired a Merc SLS and immediately one second faster......
Quick 'blat' around Tokyo to get credits and bought my own Merc. Now to get quicker in it.
Think it was GT6 where I got a SLS-AMG Black edition for pre-ordering and fell in love...
they do say nothing is as fast as a hire car

After a little break, came back and did my third round of the WTC800 at Spa with the NSX. It's surprisingly smooth to drive, better than my go-to Viper. Got a 5-star ticket and got a camshaft...

I then bought the 962C to make up for that disappointment.

As for the M3 ‘89, I think I’d rather wait for it to come in black.
You can paint it any color you want in the Livery Editor.

Anyhow, yesterday - this is becoming a bad habit - bought
  • Fourth RX-7 GT-X '90 at the Used Lot
  • Fourth Lancia Delta HF Integrale '91, Used Lot
  • Third BMW M3 '89, Used Lot
  • Third McLaren MP4-12C, Used Lot
  • Third Testarossa '91, Used Lot
  • Third Toyota MR2 GT-S '97, Used Lot
  • Pagani Huayra '13
  • McLaren F1 GTR '95 at Hagerty's Legendaries
Opened a couple of aging three star tickets for a crankshaft, wee, and 10K credits. Wee some more. Opened a four star ticket that netted me a Megane RS Trophy Safety Car, which was nifty.

Went to Tokyo to harass Blofeld, made a bit over four million. Got tired of screaming around in my CIA modified Tomahawk and bought the Huayra on someone's recommendation to try at Tokyo instead. I needed an ECU and Power Restrictor both, and some ballast to get it to 599PP, but it was still competitive. On sports hard tires it had a surprising amount of grip so I used those. It was a dream to drive otherwise untuned, and had just enough fuel even on map 1 to complete the race, thanks to some short shifting and seven long gears. I needed some tactical drafting to be able to compete, as power was nearly cut in half. It took a few tries to get dialed in, and learn how easy it was to be punted by the bots. Blofeld seems to recall how much abuse I subjected him to and was a pain in a few laps.

To my surprise, Mikail Hizal tried to outdo everyone and tried to pit me, literally. On about lap 8 I had passed him on the tight loop before the long straight before the starting line. After the slight turns leading into the tunnel, he drafted and pulled alongside to my right. I thought surely he wouldn't decide to pit and kept pushing, when abruptly he banged into me, trying to force us both into the pits. I caromed off the wall, fighting him every inch of the way, afraid I was going to get stuck in the pits with the astroturf. But I managed to force the 4WD Subaru off, and spun him out as he refused to quit, while "Rose" watched in befuddlement in pit lane herself.

Not sure what his problem was. But I managed a second place finish, and three firsts, for a tidy six million bounty for the day.

The clean race bonus is only canceled when you collide with an AI on the same lap as you.
Lapping the AI or hitting a barrier the bonus is not canceled.
This is quite interesting, because the video I posted last week was a shunt I had with an AI car that I was overtaking for position, not lapping... the contact was pretty slight, but it was enough to send me crashing into the barrier and spinning off the track in spectacular fashion, and yet despite several other minor shunts (and major spins), I still got the CRB... and yet, just now, I did the 10 laps at Autopolis Touring Car 700 race (my go-to grind race) and was denied the CRB for the slightest touch of an AI car.

I have seen that the CRB threshold changes for people depending on experience, but is that experience also event specific? Frankly I was flabbergasted at getting the CRB at the Spa 24h enduro race (after a comically bad performance) and flabbergutted at NOT getting the CRB at one of the cleanest races I can muster at Autopolis, even though both were done at approx. the same level i.e. within a week of each other.

Ok, been pub, came back and carried on some more.

After using the F1 GTR this morning and loving it, I decided to buy myself another McLaren. Little apprehensive as I was disappointed in the P1 GTR. But the 650S GT3, what a machine! Downtuned it to 700pp and it's a walk over in any event I've tried, it's almost too easy!

Put it back to its stock 722pp and walked the Spa 1 hour 800pp race with it. I may have found a new favourite car.

Was hesitant to buy the F1 GTR because I need to save cash for the Legendary trophy cars, but when I saw it was a Gp.3, I couldn't resist. Blitzed the World GT Series Championship in it, painted Papaya...

I've also been enjoying the Le Mans grind far more than the ridiculous Tomahawk equivalent, and after several different Gp.4s, I'm now just tuning up road cars to take it on so it's a bit more of a challenge. Wins today with these matchy matchy badboys...

Pretty sure that's what I used as it's the only thing in that class that I've bought so far. Have you got the Big Turbo?

I think the races where you get on-track penalties are far more lenient on the CRB awards. On the 30 min Le Mans race, I've smashed into multiple AI, binned my car into the wall in the wet, and still come away with the full 800k payout.

Learned today that enabling car collision penalties in custom races is a terrible idea. Even light collisions that weren’t my fault resulted in a two or three second penalty for me, not the guy who nudged me.

Reminds me once again that GT7 sucks. But it’s awesome at the same time. It’s one of those games for me. I love it, but hate it.

You only lose CRB for passing (including lapped cars) under a yellow flag in the "new" events (Tokyo 600, Le Mans 700, Sardegna 800, Spa 800). Contact or going off track does not matter in these.

The standard rules (any contact deemed your fault or track limit violation - same conditions that would induce a fail state in a passing mission) still apply to all other events. There is no "change depending on experience", and it does not matter if a car has been lapped or not when you make contact.

That means that the crash in my Spa race was clearly not my fault then :D

Spent a long while working on the 330 P4 to get it to calm down on the oversteer. It's around 750pp on Medium tyres. Took it to the 800pp Monza race and destroyed the Group 3 race cars on a 1 stopper doing FM3 for 6 laps and FM1 on fresh tyres for 4 laps.

There should be a Ferrari race at Monza.

I just won my first ever online race...

Excited Will Ferrell GIF by HBO Max

I did the Fuji Daily Race and had a brilliant race with a very clean and fair German driver called Geezl, but finished 2nd to a UK driver, finishing 3.9 seconds down. However, they were all penalized for the tyre regulations that saw me lose my last race (despite finishing 1st :( ), and so I won my very first online race tonight :D It's a pity, though, that the rules are a bit unclear*, and the qualifying is a bit of a shambles... makes it too easy to accidentally breach the rules, and hence my first ever online victory was tainted slightly by knowing that I didn't 'win' as such.

Still, 4 online races and 4 finishes in the top 4, and improvement from starting position in every race :D Pretty happy with that, though I didn't get my clean race bonus this time for reasons that are beyond me.

* Knowing my tyre error from last time, I selected Medium tyres and did Qualifying. However, I was automatically put on Racing Softs, so exited and changed to Mediums, and set a Qualifying time**. However, I was not allowed to 'Enter' due to it being too early, so I waited until Entry started and then did another qualifying session. Again, though, I was put on RS tyres automatically (this explains what happened in my last attempt...) so exited again and switched to Mediums before setting my time, which was good enough for 4th place on the grid. The race started and I was relieved to see that I started the race on RM and finished under 4s behind the 'winner', but they were penalised for not using RMs so I got the victory...

** There's a few questions here:

1. Would my Quali time on RS tyres have stood, even though it was before the Entry period and on a faster tyre?

2. How does BOP work?? I was actually faster on RM tyres than RS (though not rigorously tested...) but I was amazed to be faster on RMs today that RSs a few days back. By selecting a slower tyre, does that essentially mean your power/performance gets a boost to mean that you're basically gaining nothing by being on the RS tyre to begin with??

3. If you start a race on RMs and pit and change into RSs, does BOP automatically/ad hoc during a race to reduce your power/performance so you gain no advantage??

4. How do you find/follow specific people on GT7??

Haha, I did a 12H endurance races with everything on, heavy damage included. The slightest touch of a wall, penalty plus aero damage. The AI rams you, wheel plus engine damage, AI drives past without damage nor penalty. The rules only apply to you, the AI can do whatever it wants

It's all against one in GT7 races. It's usually one AI that makes a stupid dive to knock you wide so the rest can get through. When the AI screws up, yellow flag, 3 sec if you don't slow down fast enough and pass one (they all brake and stop when one of their own gets a boo boo) Yet when you crash, no yellow flag and the AI simply plows through you. The whole field will ram your spinning car until there's nothing left

Ugh, this is so true.

I finished out the rest of the Gone With The Wind missions, and further showed me how insanely inconsistent these damn missions are.

The "conserving tires" GR3 mission on high speed ring is literally the worst thing I've done in this game my a huge margin, and probably any game for that matter. The AI Viper and Renault and some others are stupidly fast for some reason, and the rest of them aren't. I literally had to resort to wall riding towards the end to win, which made me feel like such a loser, but I was DONE with this ****. Especially because I've seen multiple videos of people beating it despite running 4+seconds slower laps than me. What a stupid waste of time it was.

Then moved on to the Sun Also Rises missions, and beat them all first try by large margins, with the exception of the stupid drag race missions that forced me to blow way too much money on modding a R35 GTR, only to still have to draft the one in game to beat it. I literally have every single thing done to it including nitrous, and the AI GTR didn't have nitrous and would still walk me. On the final mission driving the Jag GR3 on Mt. Panorama I beat the AI by well over thirty seconds... how does this make any sense?

They really need to have some people play this damn game through before releasing it, because the ridiculous sway between painfully easy and nearly impossible is just the dumbest and most infuriating BS. But I'm fairly certain they had many, many testers playing it thousands of times before release, so I don't know how these missions are still like this. What a crock.

Still love the game, despite it making me want to break things sometimes.
