What did you do in GT7 today?

I usually start with RH until the "Wetness Bar" reaches 1/3, then I switch to Heavy Wets.

For today, I took the BMW VGT to Le Mans and it was a hoot! I got a 6 Star finally and got the Mini VGT! And that is my Collector's Level maxed :)

What is the tyre strategy for the Spa 1hr WTC 800 event?
It entirely depends on the weather.

Sometimes it will not rain at all during the entire race, in which case you can easily 2-stop and use RHs for the whole race.

However, it usually rains to some extent during the race, but IIRC, I've only ever needed inters and not full wets - and typically you only need inters for a few laps.

So it's up to the RNG then? Damn haha

I had the bar change blues in the upper third section for both rain events that I experienced. I would say about half the race if not 40 mins was in wet for me.

I've done the Spa 1 hour multiple times, no two races have ever been the same.

Done it twice today. Frist time barely rained at all, did the entire race on a 1 stop with RH tyres.

Second time, the heavens opened and the track was flooded, full wets had to go on. Once a dry line appeared I went back to RH, literally 2 laps later I'm back on full wets and finishing the race on them.

It's why I enjoy that race so much. I love the track, always have. But the weather really is dynamic in that race. The only strategy is to be on the right tyre at the right time.

Your race 2 is exactly how my first crack at it went. Thought I could weather the rain the second round and went to the spin doctor.

Been caught like that a few times. Either that, or the rain doesn't seem to be moving that fast so you go for one more lap on slicks, only to end up doing the last third of a lap at about 80mph 😂😂

Got to finally play on the weekend for the first time in almost a month. Did some Toyko grind, bought the Alfa 155. Then just did a bunch of world touring 700 and gr 4 races to complete those. Did the Spa 1 hour with the CLK LM and got caught out by the second round of rain. Went from Wets to inters and aquaplaned all over the place. Did some more grinding and bought the Ford Mk IV for the second jewel in the trophy crown. Just need the Jag but won't be able to play/grind this week.

Make sure you have the WET tire, my first attempt i only had Intermediates, welcome to ice skating for hopeless beginners, this is your skates, they do 280 on the straights and there is no brake, and yes, you will be here for another 30 minutes or you wasted the first 30 minutes.

The CLK is a monster on that track and a sure win unless you really mess it up, and make sure you DON'T overtake under yellow, it will cost you up to half a million. When on wets i usually go FM6 and save fuel.
When you have done 2 races with the CLK, raise the difficulty a little, for example with the Porsche Rothmans

Or with a GR3 Supra

Spa is by far (for me) the best event in the game, you have no idea what is going to happen, and there is only one tactic, adapt..

Yeah it's such a monster. I have the full W just didn't do the strategy right. Also got caught by the AI crashing into the pit walls with each other and a penalty for ignoring yellows but there was nobody on the track :(

Tried the WTC 600 round at the Nurburgring GP again. I got a clean P2 - better than my previous best of P3 - with two somewhat unusual machines. They were a Ford GT ‘06, and then a Toyota Corolla Levin; the former was on Sports Hards, and the latter on Sports Softs.

Anyway, I won a four-star ticket, from which I got my first Ultra-High-RPM turbo, and it was for the Mazda RX-7 Spirit R. That car is now the only car where I have two different parts for it, as I previously won a Racing Muffler for it. That said, I do have two Stroke Up S parts for the Honda NSX Type R '02.

I returned to the WTC 600 round at the Nurburgring GP, and decided to take a “When in Rome” sort of approach, in that this time, I tried using one of the cars the AI was using. Specifically, I took a page out of Suswillo’s playbook, and used my Nissan GT-R Nismo. It was on Sports Softs with only a ballast and power limiter installed - not even a full-customize ECU. This time, I did indeed get a clean P1!

What I found consistently odd, is that for every car that I used, I was definitely on pace to catch the leader, so I believe that if the race was longer than five laps, I could've eventually scored P1. It would've alternatively been nice to have a qualifying option, here. Another idea would be for these events to have power/weight regulations, not only to prevent certain cars from being OP, but also to get a much better idea of what to expect. The Nissan GT-R Nismo I used is probably the heaviest car I used for this event. All it had was a ballast and power limiter installed - yet it's still the car that I won with. I even had the fastest lap every time I tried using a different car.

But I think it gets weirder. When I used my tuned Ford Focus ST '15, my best lap was about 2:14, which is very close to my best time with the GT-R Nismo, yet I only won with the latter while getting P3 with the former. So I suppose I won't think about it too much - I'd chalk it up to simply starting further back in the field. This also could be due to the seemingly random starting positions of the AI drivers, as some cars like the DB11 and Huracan seem generally faster.

Oh, and I also checked out the LCD first thing. I wasn't a fan of the yellow that the 911 GT1 was, so I decided to get that silver Corvette C2 instead.

EDIT: The number of World Circuits events seems to be dwindling for me - though I still have plenty of Circuit Experiences to do. All that's left is the two WTC 600 rounds at Tokyo Expressway, and the other WTC 800 races since I already got P1 at Daytona. Hopefully, we'll get more than just three new rounds with this next update, as there are still some venues that desperately need more races. For example, the Kyoto Driving Park, Interlagos, and Monza. It's not like there are many races at the Nurburgring that aren't on the GP layout, either - but a WTC 700 or 800 event seems like it'd be a great fit.

So today, got the new wheel & peddles out. My 1st wheel. Was really looking forward to using it. Took the Renault RS01 to LeMans for the first run out. Wow, not as easy as I thought it'd be. 1st lap was a total mare, but managed to get it back as there was absolutely zero rainfall today. Need to get to grips with the torque settings I reckon. Thought I'd try the Rothmans Porsche 962c at Spa. Started well. Leading by over a minute with 10 minutes left, then the heavens opened just as I passed the pits (obviously). Got around the lap somehow and found myself 1.45 behind in 6th, where I stayed until the end. The weather gods weren't paying attention today. Didn't bother with Hagerty's as I don't have 12mill... Maybe later this week. Where did I leave that Tomahawk?

Remember when I first used a wheel, it was damn hard. I'm strictly a controller guy now. Too old to be messing about with fetching a wheel out when I want to play, that and the wife wouldn't be too happy lol.

I highly dislike the weather in GT7, and it's not just my wreck in the rain in real life. The ridiculous hypersonic speeds the weather can travel at many locations - literally thousands of miles per hour - well, this post says it all.

Not a fan of the 40 minute day either. Anyhow...

Yesterday - back to that again - bought two Shelby GT350 '65 at Hagerty's. Thought about buying a few extra cars at the Used Lot, but not sure I needed any of them so I held off. Then decided to take a pic of my Ferrari F430 GT4 and 3 racers I'd built to post in the Custom GT4 thread, with setting sheets. That took more time than I'd suspected.

Then back to the Tokyo Tomahawk Chop on Blofeld, in which I had a few spectacular crashes trying to push the two miscreants into position-losing situations. I have no pics because they lost so much in the translation, so use your creative license involving me caroming off walls in spins. Rose wasn't happy, particularly when I subsequently couldn't keep from bumping walls. Nerves of rubber sometimes...

I was going to try the Diablo again, but by then it was time for a late supper, and a grocery run I put off - with rainy weather coming, meh. So I spent some time in alien worlds and cracked open a visual novel game I'd become curious of, with more aliens. I've become quite curious of what's really out there lately, and Rose is coy about the interstellar community, so I've taken to science fiction to feed that inquiry.

First things first, sorry to hear about your wreck, hoping you're ok from it.

Second, I have to agree. The travel speed of the weather is ridiculous, I've clocked it at over 3600mph before, they just should have left the scale blank. Silliness aside, I do still like the randomness of it though, keeps it interesting.

Bought the 911GT1 and had five attempts at winning the Porsche Cup race at the Nordschleife. 2nd was the best I could manage, despite being first out of the last corner the opposition 911 had ridiculous traction in the wet and beat me by 0.110 seconds.

Great idea, i returned to that race with the GT1, the definition of a race going to the line.. and that other Porsche is just very very fast in a straight line..

Good effort. I was running stock so was on Sports Hards. The only reason I got so close to winning was because I had rain at the start as well as the end, which knocked a good 10 seconds off the lead cars lead early on. It was full wet conditions at the end and my car just wouldn't pick up any speed off the last corner.

Well, that XJ13 pretty much beckoned me after seeing that it returned to the Legends dealership. After buying that, I got the “Three Legendary Cars” trophy, leaving me with only two trophies to collect: “In-Depth Mastery” (50 sport mode races) and the platinum trophy that comes with collecting all of the trophies.

I then proceeded to test out the XJ13 in the WTC700 race at Le Mans and found that it was fairly easier to drive compared to some of these older prototype race cars. Managed to win easily. That was fun. I like that XJ13.

I also bought the 911 GT1 since I didn’t have that one either and won with it at the Le Mans WTC700 as well.

Sports hard, nice :-)
I had to detune the car and the last thing i swap is tires

I'm in my mid 50s. Played GT1-3 on controller and GT7, but it's a much more immersive game than the others I've played & I want to get as much out of it as possible. Really enjoyed it today. Just gotta get better😁

I'm 40, feel about 70 at the minute lol.

I've played all the way through from GT1 as well, owned many wheels along the way. But now, for me, a console is about picking up a controller and chilling on the sofa.

And to be honest, I don't really have the time to put into a wheel these days between work, family and social life. Having said that, might have been nice to have the last few weeks, if I could have got in and out the seat lol. Been off work for 6 weeks after major abdominal surgery, my PS5 amd GT7 have been thrashed 😂😂

Cars bought today;

  • Jaguar XJ13 '66 (For the Legendary Car Trophy)
  • Audi R18 '16 (For the Scapes Trophy.) Ending up buying the wrong car...
  • Audi R18 '11 (For The Scapes Trophy.)

Events raced today;

  • Daily Race A a couple of times. Need quite a few races for the trophy, and that will be the final one done for GT7.

I've recently played GT7 far less due to getting more enjoyment from ACC and AC. However decided to try some sport races tonight, just for fun.

3 screen freezes/crashes in 1h15m.

Utterly embarrassing for PD. What a shambolic bit of software.

To top it off I wanted to squeeze in one last race B, however instead of the normal rolling start, the game just continued down past turn 1 without starting the race. I didn't bother waiting to see IF or when it might start. Oh well, more sleep I guess.

It's a shame because the races I did manage to complete were mostly good fun, got to race in 3 different GT3 cars that I don't often drive in gran turismo, and compare them to the ACC offerings.

Oh yeah, I also tinkered around with my tuned Skyline GT-R (R32), and I might actually use it for these remaining WTC 600 rounds - and maybe even for the Kyoto Driving Park One Hour. We’ll see. I still want to see if I can win it in that Ford Focus ST ‘15, though - or maybe even the Ford Mustang Mach 1 ‘71.

Whoa, bummer. Hope your feeling better dude. It's an experience. Watching my replays using the controller, I can see the car jerking around corners, where I'm just nudging the analogue stick so as not to turn too far too fast and I reckon I'm losing time there. My replays from today show a smooth entry & exit. Just need to sort out braking points and trail braking

I nearly did the same thing, I came so close 😂

Don't know what is causing all your problems, but I haven't had a single issue with the game and I've put in well over 100 hours so far.

I'm pretty perplexed myself. I've also put In a tonne of hours as a day one buyer but I've had the odd issue here and there. Tonight it black screened after trying to enter a race A, then it thought I was offline and wouldn't load properly. I was online and connected to PSN just fine. Then it froze again just as a race B was about to begin. Followed by the race start issue I described. Just one of those nights I guess.

Cheers, I'm definitely doing a lot better than I was!

I know what you're saying about the jerking. I tend not to have too much trouble with it in the corners, it's the little adjustments on the straights that stick out to me.

Every issue you've described comes across as a network / Internet issue other than the game itself. What's your Internet and setup like??
