Finally finished updating the New PS5 and downloading the PS5 Version of GT7 .

Got the Finale Movie ending on my other playthrough .

Sitting at 35 Million CR on my first playthrough and hoping this Hagerty Update doesn't nurf the Legendary Car Prices up to much , lets be honest i'd be surprised if they go down in CR :dopey:

Looked at the new cars and missions and it is pretty meh. Checked the used lot and bought a second S2000 then scanned through the Legendary collection. Finally, loaded up a car I was making a Livery for and just stared at it for a bit before shutting the game down. Starting to realize I am spending more time looking for and reading about news & updates, hoping for something to rekindle that spark, than playing the game. May be time to put the this game down for a while and check it out again in a few months. While I do feel this game has brought back some of the elements I was looking for from a GT game, even without a need to grind, the game just feels hollow and disjointed. The RPG element is just not there and I don't think throwing more events at the game(ala Sports single player update) will help much.

So, ended the play-day on Cafe Menu 42 (?), the Gr.1 races. Come to a bit of a halt here! Completed 40 after welcome advice found here, 41 (VGT) went fine using the Lambo and the Jag (Jag was a bit of a handful at Deep Forest!) but the Gr.1 races are a different kettle of fish.
The car I'm using will win easily - Peugeot 908 HDI FAP 2010 - rocket ship especially with mid-range turbo fitted; the problem is getting rear ended in the corners! The AI appears to be much more aggressive here...... will try again tomorrow.
Oh, Menu 41 6 star ticket gave me Cr.500k. Thank you!

So, people bought GT7 for book menu coffee and missions?

OK, with so many people buying DD wheels i thought they bought the GT7 mostly for online competition with friends and other people.

- Now that the Tomahawk/Tokyo combo is dead, I’ve decided to take my various Gr.4 and Gr.3 cars and use them in every WTC 700 and 800 event respectively to make money now. I’ve started with the Aston Martin DBR9 since that’s what I happen to be currently using. Got 300 miles on it so far. I might top things off by running the WTC 700/800 championships too.

Tried the WTC 600 round at Tokyo Expressway East - Clockwise today twice. The first time I tried, I got a clean P3, despite getting a five-second penalty near the end of the last lap. Then, I took the Ferrari 458 Italia that I used, and installed some aero parts as well as a brake balance controller, but that was it, and that seemed to do the trick. I ended up getting a clean P1, and was over eleven seconds in front of P2 by the race's finish.

I also want to try entering the GTWS Nations Cup as part of the GT2 class, but there's a potential forecast of lightning tomorrow, so I may be unable to get into the first round. But part of what I love about the FIA GTCs/GTWS is that you don't have to do all the rounds. So we'll see when they forecast the lightning - I definitely don't want to risk a power outage while playing.

EDIT: And I also plan to do the Lightweight K Cup events next, in a modded Honda Beat, and then the Autopolis One Hour to cap it all off.

Yesterday, I checked the PP adjustments brought on by the update, bouncing between the GTP, Plus, and a third account because there are some used and Hagerty's cars that I tuned beyond recognition. After that, I checked what the cost of a new engine on the Hagerty's cars that I own that will be going up (or in the sole case of the DB5, down) in price, and found that the new prices are already in effect for new engines/bodies. With some help from someone who owns the cars I don't, I put together a full list of price changes.

Staying on the GTP account, I easily cranked out Menu Book 39 with my Human Comedy-tuned Beat, and after some faults with the Peugeot VGT (not helped by where I had left the difficulty...more on that in a bit), retuned my Tomahawk S (which is no longer fit for grinding Sardegna) to fit Menu Book 40 and cranked out 1sts. I then cranked it up for Menu Book 41, took it to Daytona, and somehow won. I decided it wasn't good enough for the more-technical tracks of that menu book, and threw a medium turbo on the Porsche 962 C. I got smoked at Saint-Croix, and somehow got a 3rd at Suzuka.

The 2-star work...er...marathon roulette got me a racing muffler for the Renault Megane R.S. Trophy, and the 6-star for Menu Book 40 got me 500,000 Cr. (the mid-cash prize, and the booby prize, which looked like 2,000 Cr., was the next one over).

Today, I banged my head (again) on the last 2 races of Menu Book 41 despite having a 962 C with a medium turbo, then remembered I had cranked up the difficulty from normal to hard the other day in a vain attempt to win the last Human Comedy. Managed to get 3rd at Saint-Croix and 1st at Suzuka (after cranking on every aid), and decided I wanted 1st at Saint-Croix. Turned the difficulty down to easy and cheesed the field almost as badly as I got cheesed on hard.

The 3-star marathon got me the WRX Gr.B road car, and the 6-star for the menu book got me 500,000 Cr. (the mid-cash prize...again, though the booby prize was on the other side).

After that, I cranked out some laps on this week's WRS time trial, and got duplicates of the available used cars that I tuned beyond recognition.

I might do some work on the Plus account.

Completed all of the new menu books. One six-star ticket netted me a McLaren P1 GTR…that I already had. The other did give me a million credits though, and I can sell the duplicate in the distant future…maybe.

Bought the Roadster Shop’s Rampage Camaro and was disappointed. Didn’t bother with the Suzuki VGT. Already bored after grinding the Tokyo WTC600 and Le Mans WTC700 for a while.

These buffoons really should’ve delayed the game another year or so. Some people may have been upset, but at least there would be much more content.

In the quest to switch to triggers and manual transmission I've now reached Menu book 32/33 (600PP WTC Championship)

Really really struggled with the Porsche Cup at Spa. First time round, I remember Maggiore being particularly challenging as the first 2 cars would be way out ahead and sustain legitimate pace when I got close enough. This time around, Maggiore was very straightforward but Spa... jeeez I must have repeated it at least 10 times. It nearly pushed me to going back to my old settings but I've been playing solidly for the last 4 days to build some sort of muscle memory and I must admit... it's coming... I just need to find consistency and control to deliver more pace. I'm getting the throttle down well... but modulating the brake.. its like my left hand is weak at finding the inputs with precision.

Nevertheless I golded the Porsche events and landed my self a Corvette engine (the one that transplants into the Pontiac.. meh).

Completed the first two groups of missions (just got the Eco Challenge remaining... that'll be interesting on MT)

Re did all the races for the new menus, still really wnjot the VGT and Gr1 events. Then I went hunting for all the 800PP races and ran them with a couple of different cars. Also bought the civic touring car that turned up in the UCD, haven't tried it yet though.

Ahhhh mate. I'm so tempted by the Civic TC. But since I'm redoing it all over, it's a luxury I can't afford just now :(

How does it handle?

I modded my own EK9 and that was an absolute weapon. I used it to win Kyoto Human Comedy - it was nowhere near as powerful as thr competition (NSX, Supras etc) but it just demolished them in the corners which Kyoto is rife with.

Edit: scrap that, couldn't help myself - I bought it! Ha

The GR1 menu book was the goal today, my Super Formula Car was once again my choice of weapon, improved to 5th and finally 3rd place! not bad, this was a tough race..
Of to St. Croix, a track i rarely race on, again the Super Formula Car was the choice, it was simply to slow, tried the new hypercar, i can't get it to turn. Back to the SF car.. checked the settings.. and just a pro tip, make sure that the power setting isn't at 83% when you try to win GR1 races.. With the added speed i got a victory, even though the AI cheated on a pitstop.. Daytona, 2nd place..

Menu book 42 is complete, and i got 500k from the Wheel of Misfortune

OK, with so many people buying DD wheels i thought they bought the GT7 mostly for online competition with friends and other people.
I bought it more for offline racing. I'm currently doing the 50 Sport Races for the final trophy I need for the platium and after that I'm not touching Sports mode for a while.

So no,

Not only for online competition.

I began this last night, but why buck Stryker tradition...

Yesterday, sat around in here in the morning with coffee while the update installed. Found out that the Tomahawk was no longer legal at Tokyo, sigh. I'll miss that little monster, though Rose won't be too upset. Also discovered that my DD Pro's FFB had been sabotaged - wth?? Oh well, like Bond, improvise.

Bought
  • Lamborghini Countach 25th Anniversary in metal finish at the Used Lot, just because it looked so darn cool
  • Rampage Camaro at the Dealership
  • Jaguar XJ13 '66 at Hagerty's
Opened three roulette-of-fun tickets that were nearing their end of life, all three star. Got me a 10K and 5K money piles, oh well. And a Corvette C7 which was pretty nifty.

Checked out the new Menus at the Cafe, and dove into the Kei Car challenge first. The Honda S660 was trouble in Maggiore's downhill corkscrew, so I stole - I mean, used Kita Kangaroo's Cappuccino strategy. Seeing all the tuners in their image, I souped up the coffee car to about 380PP and ran time trials on the three tracks. I do NOT like Willow Springs Street Course, but it had to be done. It took some time to learn and get a clean lap - what a confusing track, but thinking I had it down well enough, entered the race. It took a few do overs to win because the slug AI in the back was also a bit reckless and kept nudging me off track, but I finally won. Maggiore was all right, won. Tokyo was a breeze and lovely at night.

I tried the Vision GT challenge next, and used the Toyota FT-1 I had on hand. Kyoto was really different, I barely recognized it. The first run I came in third, thanks to the bots in the back of the pack being bots and slowed me down. Rather than turn down difficulty, I slapped some racing softs on and couldn't believe how much faster I was, winning easily. I should have taken that to heart because what I chose next was Deep Forest Reverse.

I do NOT like that track reversed. Some courses are not even right reversed, and this is one of them. Getting remotely competent with the FT-1, I was aghast to find that the event was dusky and foggy to boot. I just wanted to blow through it after struggling with the time trial and put difficulty on easy. And... even with the headache inducing bots, it actually wasn't too bad. Never doing it again though.

And at that point it was getting close to sunset and hadn't eaten as usual, so that ended my GT day, the rest of it I spent in alien realms away from this weird planet.

Handles just like an overpowered front wheel drive hot hatch.

To be honest, it's not too bad, just needs a little work. Reached its top speed at Deep Forest so a new gearbox is needed. The brakes could also do with an upgrade but that could also be down to the SH tyres.

I can tell it's got potential, just needs a little time and effort to get it where I want it.

Despite its current problems, I’m still glad we have GT7 now at the end of the day. I don’t think I would’ve been able to stomach another year of GT Sport.

Nice. Just so happens, I gave mine a brake upgrade!

Oh.. and some mag blue Volks! :D

Did the new Kei car events. The first two races at Willow Springs and Maggiore were interesting to say the least, but that last race at Tokyo gave me a lot of GT2 SSR5 vibes. For the Tokyo race I was battling it out for first in my underpowered Cappuccino that could barely reach 100. Ultimately I had a lot of fun with the last event just thrashing around this obscure little wind up car. To me THAT is what I liked about GT series and made me fall in love with it - Pushing little obscure underpowered cars to their limits. It also helped that I was listening to Alphaville's "Big in Japan" while driving the last race. Had to set the mood, of course. 😎

I really enjoyed those events too, and you're dead right - they really felt like the essence of GT encapsulated perfectly. I managed to take the lead on the last lap at Willow Springs only to go the wrong ******* way which was a bit stupid, though I did manage to re-take the lead before the end.

I just completed the Vision GT Cafe Menu... was very unimpressed to begin with, checking out bits of scenery at Deep Forest I never knew existed, and did myself out of a race win by smacking a protruding bit of armco on the last lap. But once you get a handle on driving the car properly (and stop swearing profusely at it), it was really pretty good fun. Oh, and this happened at Kyoto, which resulted in a horrible accident on the last lap which cost me the win... can you see a pattern forming at all??

Oh, and got the Bugatti VGT for my efforts too, so I'm pretty happy with that :)
