What Do You Expect From PD In GT5?

I forgot a bit of information.

 • Tuning: Let you remap your turbo and ECU, like NFSU2 did. Also have the ability to make any ratios you want, rather than picking a group of ratios for each gears. Also let you get caster adjustments for suspensions like Forza does. They also need some tuning that lets you increase, or decrease steering response. Also let your front wheels turn as much as it would at low speeds, as it would at high speeds. 💡

I would like to see the ability to turn the headlights/fog lights on/off during photo travel and photo drives.

CNG
What I expect from the following categories...

 • Rallying: Street rallying is cool, but get rid of dirt and snow rallying. It's sickening, we get a penalty for the A.I. bumping us, stopping on a straightaway in front of us, and overtaking us, taping the front of the car. I love street rallying like Citta Di Aria and others, because they have a sort of rhythm to it, that no other board can offer. Only have snow, ice, and wind on normal tracks where snow, etc is possible. :)

Just my 2 cents...

I have to disagree with that comment about taking away dirt and snow rallies, thats really what rallies are mostly based around. A simple fix would be to make point to point rallies with any stupid AI cars.

my expectations are to have PD make good on the virtual car encyclopedia idea, ie all the cars in the world rendered inside and out, with real life physics and be able to run every track or city.
thats not too much to ask for??????

All of this based on Post #30 (by CNG)
* Weather is very feasible. Rain at the Nürburgring Nordschleife- double nightmare
* Customization - absolutely, but I don't know about bodykits from other cars. If you want to talk Racing Modifications, you're free to at this thread: < https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=81388 >. Some of the points you mention would be great to mention in talking Racing Modifications.
* Tournaments -
* Rallying - don't like it? Revive my past discussion and tell PD how to do rallying: < https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=80740 >. I loved Costa di Amalfi. I thought of it as kind of a Project Gotham deal in which you can take some of the best cars and have some fun navigating the course. Many would argue that Pikes Peak should return to GT (and much longer including going through the clouds up to the top). The rallying isn't completely perfect, but it isn't boring. I haven't been bumped by an AI car and picked up a time penalty. I think fouls should be called when you intentionally blast the other guy's/girl's car off the track, but not for simply tapping someone or hitting a wall hard enough.
* Cars - All I can say- only as long as there are more total cars than in GT3, I'm cool as ice. The Daimler Motor Carriages are history-makers. If you don't appreciate some of the pre-war cars, then you have no respect for the modern automobile. Machines ranging from the Fiat 500F up to the Bugatti Veyron all draw their roots from the motor carriages as well as the Ford Model T in regards to evolution of the modern automobile. Think of the Motor Carriages and the Model T as grandfathers of the modern automobile. You think it's a sham because it's not a Ferrari Enzo. Well think about this- 11 mph is pretty damn fast as the modern automobile was only getting better and better. You could have either one of these Motor Carriages (they are all beautiful artifacts of automotive history)... or you could go ride a horse... or you could just walk. The Subaru 360 has been thought of as an oversized go-kart. It's an oversized go-kart that would be the ancestor to the Subaru Impreza (according to Gran Turismo 2). I could remember my beloved 3000GT having upwards of 600 or so horsepower in GT2 (along with that white/green Puma paintscheme I didn't like very much). Perhaps the hp numbers were limited so that they could be sane to drive than overpowered beasts. Never know, dude. And I think you'd have to completely redesign a Subaru 360 to drop in a Ruf CTR2 engine. I do think that dropping in race-prepped engines for tuned road cars would be a great idea.

Those are MY dos centavos about your two cents, CNG. I think the SSR is an alright truck-car-thingie. I'd rather have the Toyota Tacoma X-Runner, but drag racing would be great for GT5. Imagine all the muscle car battles. You can have some sport compact action. Pro-FWD. Pro-RWD. All motor. You can probably look at a few tracks that have drag strips for some drag action. GT4 had one of them- Sears Point. The drag strip area is usually used in NHRA competition. They'd need to allow certain modifications to compliment drag racing in GT5. Only GT2 featured true drag racing machines with those HKS Drag Cars. And if PD has their way, we could even see some of Japan's finest, purpose-built drag racing machines. After a run at the Las Vegas drag strip course, any of you realize that when you're done with your high speed pass and look past the tire wall ahead, that the rest of Las Vegas is all on a flat wall surface? Make some passes at the track and notice the city background past the tire barriers.

As I stated earlier in this thread, I don't believe in expectations. My only expectation is to play the game and hope to love it as much (if not more) than the previous model.

Hey maybe we'll get Porsches too, at todays 24h Nürburgring qualifying I saw the yellow Manthey Porsche 911 GT3 RSR with the Gran Tourismo logo on it. Why would GT give them sponsorship if they dont want their car included ina GT game?

Maybe PD includes custom porsche race cars over tuner shops like they did with RUF porsches?

 • Customization
 • Smart AI
 • Damage

That's really about it. No bumper car AI, no slamming into a wall at 200MPH and being able to set a record lap right after, and I'd like to make my 700HP car look like a 700HP car.

 • Turbo - More realistic turbo lag, and sounds. Just play Gran Turismo 1 and 2 to see what I'm talking about.

 • Drifting - We need more oversteer. Sort of a mix between Gran Turismo 3 and 4. We need Gran Turismo 3 low speed physics and Gran Turismo 4 high speed physics. No one wants a FR that understeer, or the inability to do donuts.

 • Difficulty - Let the AI pick evenly matched cars, rather than one car dominating the whole field.

Just these fixes can make GT5 much better already.

I wish that this version of Gran Turismo wil be better than the others, and i know it wil, it should be.Everyone knows that the sound is lossy. And i think high quality sound requires much space. But on Blu-ray discs they can fil em up with all kinds of crap, and the power from the PS3.
Thats the biggest change i think. PD know has 50Gb(and the PS3) at their disposal rather than DVDs 14gig. So GT5 must be better.
PD wil be able to make good sound, many cars, cockpit view, good graphics, only if PD wants it of course(if they want to beat Forza).
And there is one thing they can change(as many of you already know)DONT HAVE SO MANY SKYLINES:yuck: Give us GT drivers other cars instead of 290clones.
So what do i desire from GT5.
*Better sound
*Cockpit view(already confirmed by PD)
*Even more cars(150 cars confirmed by PD:guilty: ) (or 750cars by certain rumors:) )
*More races like sunday cup(saturday cup maybe:tup: )
*Remove rally races(this is a road race game)
*Better physics
*Better AI(Hello!!, im on the road to)
*Wheater system(Not so important to me but, it should be there. In the F1 game on ps3 there is a really nice looking rain effect)
*It should take longer to gather up money
*Paint system(Like in forza 2 or like the first GT1 game where you paid 50.000 to recieve a more race like car)
*The ability to configure the driver(Choose race suit, face. And later on buy a new racing suit and helmet)
*Sponsorship ability( you can go for a test from different companies and if you impress them you recieve some cash and a note on your vehicle of the company you recieved the sponsorship from)
*Crash damage(already confirmed by PD)
And finally better graphics.
This may be much, but this is my list of desires.

After reading this thread, the list of expectations is quite long. I think everyone expects GT5 to have 2 discs like GT2! :)

A Blu-Ray Disc has two layers with 50Gb of memory, no need for a second disk if you cant even fill the first layer with game content.

Michael,

You missed the entire point of my post...I was merely commenting on how much content people want to include in the upcoming game. I was not saying that people are actually expecting 2 discs. :)

ac

I expect them to make the Test Course as fun as it was in GT2, as well as making it shorter.

Also having 55 skylines isn't the problem, but the selection of the skylines is what's really the problem. I expect them to fix that too. :)👍

*Cockpit view(already confirmed by PD) i wouldnt use it, but it would be cool to see
*Even more cars(150 cars confirmed by PD ) (or 750cars by certain rumors ) lots of unique cars is the way to go
*More races like sunday cup(saturday cup maybe ) easy races are nice and relaxing
*Remove rally races(this is a road race game) not really, it is a driving simulator, thus all types of racing should be represented
*Better physics pointed out alot, but still a good one
*Better AI(Hello!!, im on the road to) they do seem a bit dumb :dunce:
*Weather system(Not so important to me but, it should be there. In the F1 game on ps3 there is a really nice looking rain effect) changing weather would make races more interesting, and would make you pit more (for wet vs. dry tires)
*It should take longer to gather up money it is a bit easy, but then it would make it harder to purchase things, which would frustrate many people
*Paint system(Like in forza 2 or like the first GT1 game where you paid 50.000 to recieve a more race like car) definitely, the best way to make your car your own
*The ability to configure the driver(Choose race suit, face. And later on buy a new racing suit and helmet) the suit and helmet would be good for convertibles....
*Sponsorship ability( you can go for a test from different companies and if you impress them you recieve some cash and a note on your vehicle of the company you recieved the sponsorship from) this would mean that PD needs to put in more sponsers and actual parts companies
*Crash damage(already confirmed by PD) only confirmed on race cars, it would be nice for all
And finally better graphics. i dont really see how they can get much better, except no more paper thin wheels during races

I think PD know what is expected of them for GT5. They just need to accomplish it.

Hopefully, when they do, we'll have a GT title that was much more fun than GT4.

With the last 9 months of interviews from PD I'd like to see some form of solid direction.....and PD sticking to it.

All this chopping and changing the buisness plan has delayed the final product by,well I'd hate to think!!

my friends cousin is working on gt5 (im not kidding) according to him physics changes will happen (nothing dramatic though) theyre may or may no be damage but the are leaning strongly toward a damage feature a few more car brands and decals will probably be addable to cars plus they have designed a new game code that makes it "nearly impossible to break out of the track"
=-( i like breaking out!!! also the rev limiter will not be so dramatic and finally less liscense crap! dont count on smooshing spectators and cars will not fly like they used to when you go off a 2 foot high hill.

Considering the PS3 is designed around online networking, I think that's a given. ;)

I can see that GT5 will once again have "force fields" we can't get the car past. I just hope this extends to the boundary fence in front of the crowds. On rally tracks in GT4, it was a pain to have these parts of the course you should be able to swerve onto but couldn't, because Polyphony set the borders too close for some strange reason. But with crowds, you have to know we're going to have impenetrable borders of some kind.

GT5 Expectations and Wishes:

Cars

Hopefully GT5 takes advantage of all of the cars offered in GT4 along with new models and ones they didn't take advantage of in GT4. Also, car manufacturers like Ferrari, Lamborghinis, etc. need to join the picture. I am hoping that when the game is released it contains excess of 1000 cars. They need to take advantage of more f1 cars, and they need to be buyable not just unlockable. The used car showrooms need to be organized by perhaps by manufactures instead of year, with messages that let you know when new cars have been added to the showrooms. Also, could we for the first time see a motorcycle in the GT series? Possibly a drag car or two. After a certain game completion is complete you should be able to transfer cars from past GTs into your game with the ability to use them in a limited number of events. With the capabilities of PS3 online the best thing for PD to do would be to allow updating of cars as new models are made.

Tracks

Again, GT5 needs to take all of the tracks from GT4. I think they need to add a few more of their own fantasy tracks as well. Like a track to compare with Nurburgring, that is engineered with the same difficult sequence of turns. To go along with the one or two drag cars, one or two drag strips would be nice besides the only quarter mile course they have that you have to pay for in the game. The climate also needs to go along with these tracks. Depending on where the course is located, the weather needs to go along with it (Cold climates with snow instead of rain). Some of this climate conditions also slightly altering the cars engine performance. Option of design user made tracks. With the capabilities of PS3 online the best thing for PD to do would be to allow updating of tracks, and downloading of other user made tracks.

Online

Online is going to become a big part of GT5 gameplay. Sony is going to have to have as big or bigger part in this making sure game connections are stable and the quality is as good or almost as good as offline play. While online you should have the ability to create racing teams, tournaments, etc. to make it more realistic. I am hoping that it allows up to at least 8 cars per race, up to maybe 16 cars. Anymore than this can lead to problems with racers trying to sabotage other racers instead of trying to win the race.

Accessories

The use of the Playstation eye to import pictures of yourself for a license photo, or of your car to use in an arcade enviroment would be very nice. Also with the psp or supposed "psp2" you should be able to transfer game data, use it for rear view mears, side mirrors, gauges, etc. The six axis control should slowly work its way it although I would still greatly perfer the analog sticks, an option would be nice for this feature. Hopefully logitech is already on their way to designing an ultimate steer wheel and pedals for the new GT. PD needs to make sure all of this accessories can be used the way they should be.

Other

More into the options that GT5 needs to have. If they want to include crash damage for the cars they need to have an option for this. This feature will bring the game down if it is always active. Same goes for the weather conditions. More restrictions on B-Spec mode are necessary, Although this feature is nice, especially for the long endurance races, it takes alot of the challenging out of a game that is supposed to be one of the most challenging. I'm not suggesting to eliminate it, just restrict it more. I would also like to see them incorporate some of the more fun features of driving fast and powerful cars. For example, burnout, donuts, E-Brake slides and drifts.

I know all of these things PD will do and some of them they may not even have the ability to do, but if they could however do some or most of these things I will be very happy. And coming for a big GT fan who has played all of their previous games, I know they will be good for this.

I think they have everything covered and i've been looking and I havent seen any cold hard evidence they will have damage in the game. Alot of people have pointed out they have not confirmed damage just wanted to implement it in the game, so. For me I expect at least damage out of the them, everything else I'd expect they've got.

im going along with a lot of the other posters. LESS skylines. how many did they have in GT4?? 50 or 70?? it was insane, there is a skyline in the game that was in for no other reason than it was a special color, the purple one. give me a break. I know its a japanese game and the skyline is their baby, but its gotta be within some reason. we have a lot of great cars that are not being represented because there has to be 50 skylines in the game. what do they need more?? vettes, the american equivalent of the skyline, fox mustangs, 3rd gen camaros. aussie cars, a lot more than they had in GT4. falcons, commodores and they like. theyve had the great v8 powered rear drive cars in OZ since the 70s, ever see mad max?? the black interceptor and the red blue and yellow police cars are all 70s XB falcons. britain, not sure what could be equated to the skyline there, maybe some aston martins?? definitely not enough of those in the previous titles. thats what im looking for car wise. there also needs to be more classic race cars in the game, 60s grand prix cars, 70 TA cars old lemans cars, they already have a few, and the like. this is another area where the game is lacking.

sound is another issue. I got GT3, my first car was a black camaro SS, it was a great car, it eventually turned into an 800 hp monster. I get GT4, pick up the same black camaro SS and couldnt stand it, I drove it maybe twice and could not anymore, it sounded terrible, I cant even explain what it soulds like, but definitely not a v8 powered camaro. these cars are everywhere here, how could they get the sound wrong with this car. this is not about the camaro specifically, but the sound for all car i the game, especially the american cars, since they seem to suffer from this bad sound the most. FIX THE SOUND. its like another poster said, the Japanese cars sound great, all the others sound terrible, with a few exceptions.

bring back racing mods.

GET RID OF THE "SPECIAL" CARS. that was probably the most frustrating thing in GT4, aside from the horrible sound, getting a car and not being able to race it. I have not problem with a motor carriage being in the game, but you darn well better let me race it in a race and not just drive it around the test track. If I can race a car its a waste of space. who knows, maybe a 5 mph race between a bunch of motor carriages would have been fun. basically if I cant race it, figure out a way that I can or take it out. we dont need cars taking up space that cant be used.

better mod system. give me choices of parts to put on cars, not just stage 1, 2, 3 or 4. let me choose what heads I want and what pistons, what compression. there needs to be more different ways to make power. IRL I could probally make 800hp in a camaro 3 or 4 different ways. I can only do it 1 way in the GT world. the modding system needs improvement, its been the same since the first game and is tired. check my post here: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=60043&page=105
I go into a little more detail on how they should change the mod system there.

allow cars to reach their true potential, ie dont hamstring the v8s. I can get a skyline in GT4 and make 1000hp with it. yet a chevelle SS, 440 charger and a HEMI superbee make 760s. all of those cars are fully capable of 1000+ hp numbers, especially with the amount of game money is spent upgrading them. the most disappointing of all were probably the GNX at 615 and the gt40. I personally know that the GNX is capable of A LOT MORE hp and the gt40 needs more because its a great car, one of my favs and it just isnt very competitive with cars later in the game, that last one is totally selfish, but im sure there are cars all of you love too that you wist you could race in longer.

ill probally get slapped for this, maybe a few nascar cars and an oval track??

lastly, engine swaps would be great. again I hit on this in the other thread.

with the inclusion of engine swaps and a vastly improved modding system I could probally spend more time making various Frankenstein creations that I could racing. It would add a new level of depth to the game. heck, maybe let people sell their creations on the ps network.

You should how bad they sound on a 5.1 suround system.

Myself I think it would be fun to drive "The Ring" in a NASCAR.

I made an extremely long post last night only to have my computer freeze up on me and lost everything. I"ll just summarize what I posted last night because I don't feel like typing it all out again...

What I expect from PD? I'm hoping some of this won't be true but here are my thoughts on it. There will still be no damage physics in the game nor will there be any exterior modifications with the exception of rims and maybe the ability to repaint your cars. The AI will be improved from previous installments (it has to). Sounds will be a lot more realistic and true to life than previous GT games and there will still be no thread marks on the tracks or grass. Physics will be improved, I have no idea to what extent but I'm sure it will be improved. That's pretty much it aside from what they've already leaked out to the public.

What I think should be in the final game if they want to reclaim the throne...

Doesn't have to have 700 cars just as long as they have iconic cars and a lot of the cars that car enthusiasts would love to modify and race. Have exterior modifications on the cars beyond just changing rims. Vinyl arts, custom pearlescent paints and different body kits would be nice so when we race online, our cars will be unique from one another.

Graphics are great as it is but a few things should be added. Engine sounds have to be greatly improved with distinction between fully loaded, part throttle and engine braking. Power adders should be true to life and on pops and cracks on race cars or fully built street cars. A race or built engine should sound like it's about to explode, in my opinion.

When you lose traction, there should be thread marks on the tracks and in the grass if you happen to go off course. Lots of smoke would be a lot of fun for days when we just want to drift around the track instead of hot lapping or racing. Damage physics (performance and cosmetic) should be implemented to the cars to make things more interesting and for people to race more responsibly.

Overall physics engine has to be improved and the AI cars should have to follow by the same physics law that we do. Tuning should be improved greatly with more in depth adjustability. The ability to change individual tire pressures and suspension settings, not just front and rear. AI will have to be smarter and have great collision detection because there is no excuse not to have improved AIs. Especially with Sony always boasting about how great the CELL is when it comes to artificial intelligence in the games.

Last and most important thing they must do is to make full use of the Logitech G25 steering wheel!!! If you're going to make a "real driving simulator" you have to do this or it won't be one. If you don't give a manual transmission car enough gas, the engine should sputter, the car jerks and engine dies if you don't engage the clutch right away. Things like this is a must, in my opinion, when it comes to a real driving simulator. Ferraris with paddle shifters should make full use of the paddle shifters and same goes for cars with sequential shifters as well.

That is all I ask for in this 5th installment of the Gran Turismo series and I'm hoping that Kazunori Yamauchi will satisfy my needs. I have a lot more but I don't think it would be possible with current generation consoles. Maybe when a PS4 or PS5 comes out when I'm old and gray.

I dont know, that sounds a bit ricey to me.
