S10. Don't know why, but I can't seem to keep track of the dry line.
When I did for the first time I became consumed with getting across the finish line in one piece so I could at least finish the challenge.
Unfortunately, beating it and gaining the PS trophy took a snapshot of not only my car but my embarrassingly low time. 🤣
Improved my time drastically in the following tries, but that snapshot will live on forever.

Still trying to get gold on it, not sure if possible, but trying.
Have you tried using the temporary EV increase setting? It makes it much easier to see the dry line.

Are you a purist? Or just desperate for the Gold?

If you just want the Gold, it's extremely easy with Counter-Steering assistance on.

I did it just to Gold it, but I keep going back to it to Gold it without the CSA as I am a bit of a purist aswell.

If its just the Gold you want, CSA is your friend - you can take much of the troublesome sections (Eau Rouge, Blanchimont) flat out which is just not possible without CSA.

I'm am very much a purist when it comes to driving.
Yes, I could run all the aids and win and set great times, but that's a **** way out in my book.

I love the feel of the car in my fingers, in the pedals, and in the seat of my pants (no virtual simulation for this presently).

Several of my friends on PSN are also drivers I have competed with in real life in autocross and track events and we have an agreement on no aids except ABS.
So I drive all assist accept ABS 1 off.
And our times as expected are within our real time of each other.

So if I need to use aids to beat a simple time trial, I'm not doing something right.... Like not using aids. 😂

That's cool - I'm 1.5 seconds off without Assists - as I say, I regularly go back to it as I want to Gold it without the CSA also.

Additionally you mentioned PS trophy; most trophy hunters I know tend to prioritise the acquisition of the trophy by any means possible - hence I asked what your purpose was (Golding at all costs or purist's sense of achievement).

I still need somebody to come and do these drift missions for me - they're the only golds I'll never achieve!

Doesn't help when you get so much conflicting advice - some say you have to use assists, some say you have to use manual transmission, some say they're easy......
Hey b_t ...

First of all, I don't have a clue on how to drift - though I've golded them all. It's always very much trial and error, despite getting routine of course with a single event having more and more attempts.
You know I don't use assists except ABS. Still, I know what they do, and honestly I think they don't help you in these challenges.
I'm still on the DS4 - do you use your wheel, or do you switch to the controller for drifting ?

My impression regarding the points calculation is :

Speed - the more speed, the more points
Angle - the more and the more consistent ! the angle, the more points
Line - the closer to the inside of the turn, the more points

Correct me if I'm wrong, I'm a drifting noob ...

And :
I always have to calm myself down with my steering inputs, I always want to do too much and too quick.

I use the controller for these - the wheel definitely doesn't help as you cannot turn it around sufficiently to control the car. However, I do have more success with the wheel at Daytona with the Viper for some reason.

Given that I end up off track 9 times out of 10, I'm amazed that I have a total of 680,000 drift points! I have only managed to gold the first one, and that was only by fluke (more of a controlled accident than a drift!).

I haven't tried them since the update that improved the handling physics - I wonder whether it's made any difference to the drift missions?

Thanks to @Sunzi I finally did get gold in the drift event. I tried enough to complete 77 kms overall.

Firstly, I switched off all assists. I used to keep ASM on as had read by 1 user who had put a tutorial for this event saying ASM on is a helpful assist.

Secondly, I always found the 1st sector more harder to get maximum points. The 2nd sector in a way was more easier. I managed 2,610 points in the 1st sector & about 4,915 making me just scrape above 7,500. The vital thing also is that You've to nail both the sectors in the same try.

1 trick that I kept missing was the usage of the handbrake. I did use the handbrake exactly at the corner indicators of the 1st sector as instructed by you.

Congrats buddy! Glad I was able to help :D

I definitely struggled the most on the one mission where you're in an SLR McLaren and you need to pass some A45s on a section of the Nordschleife. It turned out that the AI is somewhat random - I distinctly recall getting a slightly worse time than my previous best when I finally got gold. But all that being said, this was also a bit before 1.13, so maybe it's a fair amount easier to get gold on that mission now.

At any rate, I did have fun honing my throttle control skills.

I didn't take too long at that but it was tough. The Nismo GTR was harder for me BUT I now despise fat arsed A-Class cars and I was honestly considering buying one.

I was so stuck at IA-10, though gold every license before it, and a few in S. I almost hate the AMG car because of this 😅

Flatout in Eau Rouge in S10 ? Is that possible with high CSA setup? I run with CSA 1 (and the Dualsense), I think I managed to hit 200/210kph on top of it, when at the bottom we probably hit already 260/270kph . Blanchimont flat out I also have doubts about it, the car lacks a lot of aero for that. Nice challenge this S10, I got gold after spending maybe 30 minutes on it with something like 2:24 , quite a big margin vs the target.

Yesterday I spent 40 minutes to gold the Sardegna Rally experience, those barriers on the start/finish line, how painful... The car sometimes just fly into it!

When everything assembles on one lap, it's very satisfying !

S1 TE Suzuka

A little frustrating, but I'll get through it. Sometime.
It helped me to change from one braking point for the first corner to 2, but adjusted the braking force and duration... I didn't brake entering the multiple S, but rotated the car using the accelerator pedal, then decelerated very slightly, accelerated again and the Car rotated again over the pedal. And so on, the car is very agile and requires little braking and if so, then make sure that the required steering angle is usually reduced by the weight shift, since the car rotates and this rotation, if too strong, costs speed. At least that's how I felt about the NSX.

For me that all came down to taking sweeping turn as wide and fast as possible. ...
I'm doing the Suzuka CE as well atm, gotta try your approach.
I've been ahead of the ghost after the entry of T1, followed him with about a car length through the esses and overtook him again through that final left sweep.

On a sidenote, I must admit I was kind of shocked how brutally quick these GT500 cars are through that section. As soon as I got used to it, it was ultimate fun.

I'm sure you definitely will ... get through it.

Ah, ok. Where's the difference between GT7 Gr.2 cars and cars from the Japanese GT500 series ? Would you do me the favor to explain ?
Is it that the real ones aren't as quick as the virtual ones ?

I got the impression that you were so surprised because of their downforce compared to the other / older GT500 see Tom's or the Penzoil.. And these are Gr3 vehicles. I wanted to express that. And Gr2 vehicles have aerodynamic advantages over Gr3, among other things.

Autopolis CE and mount panorama CE. Gold timers are very tight, specially autopolis. And I didnt even start nurburgring nord CE.

Use tcs5. I got it 3rd try with that.

The drift missions! I totally suck at them. I've managed to gold the ones I've attempted so far, but in a very sad way, where I spun halfway but somehow my score was not deleted, reversed a bit and smoked the wheels to the line to get the las handful of points I was missing. Sad times...

Yes virtually flat out.

CSA doesn't have 1-6 settings, that's traction control.

CSA is Counter-Steering Assistance and is available as OFF, Weak or Strong.

With CSA enabled Eau Rouge and Blanchimont can be taken at much much higher speeds. The whole lap is hardly a challenge.

They are ridiculous, I think I've only seen one person actually say they like them. I binned my steering wheel for them and just kept at them one after the other is using my dualsense to get them over and done with. Will never ever try to do them again

Oh yes sorry , got mixed up with my assists. I probably used weak .

Luckily I ran lots of Gr2 Dailies at Suzuka on GT Sport, so this CE was one of the more pleasurable ones for me!
