What License or mission are you struggling with that you feel ashamed about?

Does circuit experience count? Took me god knows how many miles and tries to gold Northern Isle Speedway!
Sure! I made this post just as a sort of thread where we can whine about our struggles, and I've used it as such!

Also, that little CE was tougher than I thought it'd be

Honestly just about everything in GT7 seems harder.

I know I'm not a bad driver. but there are times when it seems impossible to do what the demonstration car is doing.

And one thing I've noticed is that the PP limited races seem a lot harder now too. In the previous games I would pick a car, just about any car, get the PP as close to the limit as I could, then go out and thrash the opponents, easy peasy.

This time, not so much. I even ended up biting the bullet and buying the Dodge Tomahawk because I wanted do be able to get more credits (still kinda struggling with that, only had 4 million when I bought the car, so there goes 25% of my credits). I had to nerf the car into the ground to get it to qualify for an 800 PP race, and everything was pulling away from me so there was 0 chance I could win the race.

Speaking of nerfing cars, I've noticed that the ballast and power limiter don't work on a true sliding scale. To try to get the Tomahawk down to 800 PP I increased the ballast all the way up to 200 kg, then lowered the limiter to 70, and it was still 830 PP. I started taking down the output from the ECU and at a setting of 73 it was ~805 PP but at 72 it was like 709!

Now I hear about all this other content that is probably going to be nigh impossible for me... /smh

Hopefully I'm not the only one struggling a little with 7...

Drifting... I only have a controller and have almost all different Mission categories in Gold except the drifting challenges, especially the Viper mission 😢 By some miracle, managed 7,480 once (7,500 needed for gold) but average after 200 attempts is 5000 😤

But drifting in particular is much easier with the controller than with the steering wheel.

You think so? Maybe it's just me then but it's frustrating right now, at least for me.
I can't do drifting at all. My brother was down visiting and he did the last drift mission for me because I just couldn't. Super license S-10? No problem. Drifting? Big problem for me

I ended up skipping the mission pit in or stay out 2 after trying it with a bunch of different cars and not being remotely close. I figured 'I'll get the red bull X2019 when I get gold in super license'. Well, fast forward to this morning when I finally got that Red Bull.

It took a bit, but I slowly caught up and then passed the lead car (in the pouring rain). I ended up with a 1 minute lead as I left my last pit stop. I crashed once, but still had a 30 second lead. At the start of the straight, the 2nd place car had cut it down to 24 seconds. I raced a solid, but not great lap. But that *%&@ 2nd place car closed the gap FAST. I ran an under 4 minute lap and this freak, with still damp roads, and me on IM tires, caught me as I went into the last set of sweeping corners. Then he bashed me from behind, sent me off-road, and I came in second because he was gone.

Time to buy the Tomahawk I guess. I've done this race about 9 times
This is almost word for word my experience last night except you missed that part where I declined fuel while on my best ever run. I guess I need 3mil to get this done. Seems the weather is too random a factor in this race.

S-4 on controller took the longest to complete which is incredible given the lack of time-losing technical sections around Tokyo and the quality of the car (TOM's Castrol Supra) Golded it, but this took me longer than S-10 or S-7 (a lot of people seem to struggle with S-7 - I actually really enjoyed this and revisit it regularly)

my main issue is the drifting, I just cant do it. Get gold on CE.. no problem. Get gold on the 1st drift challenge, not a chance!
My brain isnt wired for this sort of thing...
How / with what do you play?

My advice... (if you want it)
1. use a pad (it's easier than a steering wheel)
2. Don't drive too fast, you gain more/more reliable points with control and drift angle than with speed
3. Try the drifts with or without ASM and/or counter-steering assistants... feel free to experiment and try completely outlandish ideas.
4. as soon as the drift starts, less steering input is very valuable.. you should try to vary the angle of the car more with the accelerator pedal.

I'm with you. My brother was down and he did it for me. I watched every tutorial, every piece of advice. I just can't do it. I'm working on golding CE, have already golded every licence and mission. But drifting? Nope

I have the same trouble and I like drifting in AC but struggled like mad on gt7 drift missions, switched from wheel to pad and had done all drift missions in less than a hour.

Im always open to advice! Im using a fanatec wheel (even tried drift mode) and ive tried with the pad... just something ive always been rubbish at. I will try again with your comments. cheers!

As above, i will revisit with the pad, cheers

Some of us wernt born to drift eh!

Am having trouble in achieving gold at the final mission in Gone with the wind. I've achieved a score of 7,198 but 7,500 seems impossible. I've tried a lot of things as keeping ASM on, increasing controller feedback sensitivity to 5, driving on M/T etc. but finding it tough.

I'm usually in the 5,500 - 6,500 range always but rarely I'm touching 7,000 score. I find the first sector hard to score above 2,500.

I'm a bit confused on the scoring. What should be the angle of the car when drifting? I try to create a big angle while drifting.

Here's mine. Hopefully helps with idea of line to take and throttle/brake input.

No Assists - Assists completely limit the ability to squeeze out additional drift points. You need as many as you can get in this one. Anything (assists) that improves stability reduce point-scoring scope.

I'm on controller and was an automatic transmission.

Check my usage of the handbrake - you don't need to overdo it like most would think (I had to learn this the hard way)

I still need somebody to come and do these drift missions for me - they're the only golds I'll never achieve!

Doesn't help when you get so much conflicting advice - some say you have to use assists, some say you have to use manual transmission, some say they're easy......

Thanks Mate. Just a question...

From the 15 second mark, how You're able to keep the tires rotating so much?

And kindly let me know to which button have You assigned the handbrake.

It's easy to keep the wheels spinning so much as long as you approach the hairpin at the correct angle. As long as you don't overcook the hairpin you can go full throttle around the corner.

Try not to swing the back out too much and when you get to the apex marker nail full throttle and just use steering to carefully correct the back.

My handbrake is on the circle button on PS5.

I don't know if you noticed but after the first section. I brake normally as you can't go into the second section too fast. This is important as even the mission description says 'learn to brake after a drift to control the car' (around 10 second mark in the video)

You can't be too fast in the second section or the hairpin is too hard to take.

Good luck - when I worked out the line, I was able to consistently get close to the gold afterwards.

Also I tired a variety of Assist combinations. The ASM or counter-steering make the drift easier and predictable to perform but you lose too many points in my experience.

You need minimum 2,500-2,700 from first section. As it is very hard to get around 5,000 from the second part. You should aim to have 3,000 As you past apex marker of second section.

Thanks a ton Mate. Will try to Gold this today as this is the only mission left to gold in the Gone with the wind event.

S10. Don't know why, but I can't seem to keep track of the dry line.
When I did for the first time I became consumed with getting across the finish line in one piece so I could at least finish the challenge.
Unfortunately, beating it and gaining the PS trophy took a snapshot of not only my car but my embarrassingly low time. 🤣
Improved my time drastically in the following tries, but that snapshot will live on forever.

Still trying to get gold on it, not sure if possible, but trying.
