Just got Blade Runner: Final Cut on BD.

All I can say the picture is awesome very nice transfer some little bits of grain in some sots, but other than that no other things to complain about. Also it has been a while since i dusted off the DVD version of the Directors cut I have, so a re-watch was in order anyway, great fils and great picture, the only real major let down was the sound, but thats not that much of a problem anyway. *****/*****

Yeah Blad Runner is great, I have the directors cut on DVD but I'm tihnking of upgrading to that big box set.

With all the interest I'm having with the Pripyat topic and nuclear reactor accidents, I watched:

K-19: The Widowmaker (8.5/10)
I really do like this film, based on the true events of the real K-19 submarine that suffered a loss of coolant to its nuclear reactor. Shows how far Russia was prepared to ignore safety to keep up with America.
Fab film that 👍.

Shrek the Third - slightly better than 1st time around, but still by far the worst Shrek movie, there isn't a single LMAO moment, just a fair few chuckles. 6/10
Dude! How about the frog king dying, or that scene where Pinocchio and gingerbread man is trying to lie about Shrek's whereabouts? I was laughing my butt off! :D

Partial clip.

Signed up for Netflix earlier this week, my first two movies have already been played through:

Clarkson's Heaven and Hell

Good ol' Clarkson, always honest and funny whenever possible. It was odd seeing these cars from 2005 ran around in a manner such as that (I already feel like we're decades ahead), it just felt a bit different. His views were almost always spot-on, but I really began to miss Hammond and May by the end of the DVD. Their opinions seem far more important to offset that of Clarkson's now. Doesn't mean they're right though...

28 Weeks Later

Some of you may know that I love zombie movies, and this one inches pretty close to the top. Its that hanging on the edge of your seat feeling that makes it so interesting, as it just boggles the mind as to how f'ing scary it all is when you actually think about it. The open ending leaves room for another sequel, which I'm dying to see happen sometime soon...

Bee Movie - Once again, another animated film of recent that is simply average. What the hell is going on?? All the funny bits were in the trailer/s. The only stand out funny bits were the bit with Ray Liotta & the bear in court. 6/10

a6m5, thats 2 funny(ish) scenes, yes. But the 1st 2 Shrek films were class, i literally cried with laughter at the 1st movie. Shrek the Third is just like every other animated film recently (see above).

SuperBad - 5/10

Yep... sure was Super Bad. xD God, it's like they took older movies like National Lampoon's Van Wilder and Animal House then made a bastardized modern version. There were a coupe train wreck laughs but others parts were just disturbing. I doubt I'm gonna get though this movie.

Superbad - 9/10

Just straight up hilarious, I love this movie. Another great movie just like 40 yr old and Knocked Up.

Sadly, I think it shows how much our youth has degraded more than anything else... Sometimes I think maybe because of shows like SNL suck balls so bad. :scared:

Mr. Brooks - The film began pretty well but halfway through it it started to fall apart a bit I think. The Hangman character and his girlfriend seemed like something taken out of a comic, it didn't feat very well. But overall it was an interesting movie, I give it 7/10.

Superbad - 9/10

Just straight up hilarious, I love this movie. Another great movie just like 40 yr old and Knocked Up.
Maybe I am just too old to understand the importance or desire of trying to impress women with booze to get laid. A lot of these teenage raunchy comedies do nothing for me anymore.

Black Xmas - cliche'd as hell, but much better than most of the horror filmsi have seen recently. 7/10

I've never seen a bad thing said about Superbad, and then 3 people finally notice! Just the same as Knocked up, superbad is simply alright. A bit like every other comedy recently actually.

Silver Hawk - 9/10

 What an awesome film! Everything was great, the cheezy outfit, cheezy fighting, cheezy chinese action flick!

Like....no? This movie sucked. 100 penis jokes and a kid riding around with cops for like 45 mins of the movie.

Pure suck. 👎

Oh well.

Sadly, I think it shows how much our youth has degraded more than anything else... Sometimes I think maybe because of shows like SNL suck balls so bad. :scared:

I'm not like those kids at all I just found it hilarious. I guess i'm just into that kind of comedy. Even so I thought it was just as funny as the other two, all about sex... *shrug* As far as I know alot of people liked 40 yr old and Knocked Up

40 year old virgin was fantastic. I watched Knocked Up and would give it a high pass rating too. Superbad was terrible. Saying penis and other simple dumb references to sex were all this movie had. The cops were very very dull. Not once did I laugh in any scene these tards were in. The movie had three scenes where I laughed out load. I had high expectations and they were not satisfied a bit.

3/10 for effort.

God, I still haven't seen Knocked up, yet. I hope to see that, and Superbad sometime soon. I did catch:

The Mist - I did enjoy most of this movie. I love these horror flicks, where the characters are holed up somewhere, fighting zombies or monsters(I have issues, I know :D). "The Mist" is a pretty decent one from this category.

Acting I thought was pretty good, definitely above average. Marcia Gay Harden is a fine actress, and I was so entertained by her work in this. 👍 Rest of the cast, lots of familiar faces, they were perfect for their role.

A couple things that did bother me:

1) I gotta start with the ending. It's one of those "WTF was that!" endings. From my point of view, the ending was both good and bad. Maybe "really" good and "really" bad, but both at the same time. Overall, it could've been a lot better.

2) People do many retarded things in this movie, I don't know how else I can put it. They do the dumbest thing possible at the worst time possible. When they should run, they stop and watch. Whey they should stay, they'll venture out. I know it's a horror flick, but it finally got to me after a while. :guilty:

I'd give this a generous "B-". Really generous.

Potential Spoilers Below

I wish there were a term I knew for the curly hair fatass... It's like a new kind of group like EMO. The closest I could come is a Chav. The whole god damn movie all he did was bitch and try to save his own ass by saying it was everyones elses fault. I went to pick-up hockey tonight and these kids were probably in their teens but they acted like the characters from SuperBad too.

Not only were the cops bad but it was totally implausible and the only think I could think was... how did they ever get handed a badge?

If I wanted to watch something similar I would've just put on KIDS. :scared:

Hey I liked 40 yr Old Virgin, especially the musical number at the end. Those are jokes about things that people my age deal with in everyday dating situations. While the point of the story goal was sex the point of the movie was to parody the stupidity of sexual pressures in the dating world. It was actually a smart take with raunchy jokes mixed in.

Knocked Up also made sense as someone married and having the child discussion right now. Every single thing said by the guys regarding relationships and children is how I sometimes feel. The point of the movie was to grow up and be mature enough to take on your personal responsibilities. The commentary along the way was relevant to me.

In SuperBad we have a group of 17-18 year olds who have the goal of trying to be cool enough for some chicks so they can have sex with them. Then we take a huge detour where the big geek runs around with the worst cops on the planet. None of this makes sense to me. None of it struck a cord that I could relate to. So, none of the jokes hit home because I was never, ever like that. After going through this entire plot of attempting to get alcohol we finally get to the point and lesson, which was never even hinted at along the way. The point being that a relationship is more important than sex. At what point did any of the hunting down alcohol and running around with inept cops teach us this? One joke this entire movie made me laugh.

From both a storytelling and personal perspective this was just not a good movie. In both of the other two movies the story progresses in a way that the audience learns the lesson along with the main character and when the "ah-hah!" moment hits the audience gets it too. Explain to me how a drunk chick puking while fooling around arrives at the "maybe being myself and having a relationship is the way to go" conclusion?

To sum up SuperBad: A lot of bad sex and alcohol jokes and then we all learn a lesson from our hangovers the next morning.

I saw Juno last night, it was pretty good. Nothing I didn't like about it really. Entertaining and heart-warming with some comedy.

Inspector Rex - The Movie
Awesome movie. Ive always like the Inspector Rex series, and now ive seen why Rex is as he is today.

9/10 👍

I guess you have to be around that age group to enjoy the kind of humor that was in the movie. *shrug* :indiff: I in no way could relate to most of the situations in 40 year old or Knocked Up since i'm only 16 and they are about more adult situations but I still got a good kick out of the humor in both those movies including Superbad. I definetly can relate to alot more in Superbad than I can with the previous two. You can't even if you think about that age group when you were that age probably because kids were not the way the are today. That's just how it is.

AVPR - 7/10
It was alright that's pretty much I got to say, I was semi-forced to go watch this. It definetly had more gore then the first AVP.

War - 6/10

I'll just say it was better than I thought because I had low standards since it had Jet Li in it. There was a lot of hot chicks too!

Bad part is they left it open to have a sequel.

I'm not big on Jet Li either.

I watched a Chinese(maybe Tibetan) film called "Mountain Patrol". A film about volunteer patrol in the 90's who fought poachers of Tibetan Antelopes. Good acting, good adventure movie. Editing, not so much. I'd still give it a "B-"

P.S. There were cool Chinese jeeps in this. It looked like the original Land Cruisers with four doors and a open bed. Awesome!

edit:
myjeep1.JPG

They were breaking down, left & right.

P.P.S. I don't think it's a Suzuki or Jeep. :D

I recently watched a movie called "Beyond the law" with Charlie Sheen, about a true story of a cop undercover to bust drug and weapon dealings within bike gangs in the US. Better movie than I expected.

Inspector Rex - The Movie
Awesome movie. Ive always like the Inspector Rex series, and now ive seen why Rex is as he is today.

Isn't Inspector Rex a German Shepherd?

That's a pretty underrated movie. Granted, Charlie Sheen isn't the most appealing of actors, especially since the movie came out right around the Hot Shots movies, so his 'serious' tone was lost. I've seen that movie about three times also.

I saw Reservoir Dogs last night. That's a good movie.

Aliens versus Predator: Requiem - (3/10)

I have given my long synopsis of this in the AVP:R thread. Shaky camera in the dark with flashing lighst does not make a good action film. Enough gore to make me think it treaded into the slasher film category and left sci-fi horror behind.

Story, plot, character development, acting, dialogue: you will find none of that here.

This should sum it up: The first one was better.

Charlie Wilson's War - (9/10)
If you enjoy a good political drama do yourself a favor and see this. I can't compliment this film enough. Good story, good acting, good dialogue, good everything. Philip Seynmour Hoffman deserves a supporting oscar for this. It is rare that I see a side character stand out the way he does. The only complaint is that I don't see what made Julia Roberts seem so great. It was good enough to make me watch "The True Story of Charlie Wilson" on the History Channel that night.
