Mr Smith Goes to Washington (1939) -- I have to say I like old movies a lot. But I usually try to avoid movies made before 1940, since they seem pretty cheesy and I can't stand the audio/video cuts. With that said, I have to say Mr Smith is a very good movie. James Stewart is about 30 years old in the movie, and his acting is superb. The political suspense had me going many times and the comedy moments were top notch. 8.5/10.

I watched that a few years ago in history class. What a classic.

Indeed! Glad to know I'm not the only one around here who's seen it. Speaking of classics:

Солярис (Solyaris) (1972) -- I think it has to help that I haven't seen the remake of this movie starring George Clooney, but keeping in mind this one was made with Soviet Union mentality, back in the 70s, I have to say I'm quite impressed! The movie itself is quite stunning regarding visuals and metameaning, and maybe some scenes are a bit too long and slow... I had to stop it halfway and just do something... I was falling asleep. Still, the twist in the end is quite bizarre. 8/10.

I actually saw the original Solaris before the remake. They belong in two totally different leagues. I've been hoping to get the original on DVD, but it was Criterion or something, and I've been too cheap to spend that 30 bucks.

"Mr. Smith...", I've been wanting to see for couple of years now, but my rental shop I don't think have one in stock. Maybe next time I sign up for online rental, sounds like you guys liked it a lot.

I rented a DVD called:
Monster - It was about two documentary filmmakers(sisters) who visits Tokyo to cover Kyoto Protocol related crap, only to get involved in a mysterious mega disaster. I kinda thought it was going to be a wanna be Cloverfield, with a little bit of that Korean film called the Host. It really should've been called the Crap.

Box featured a jet or two on it, with Japanese soldier dude shooting assault rifle at something, and I fell for it. It even said that it was "uncensored". One of the worst DVDs I've ever watched. Avoid it at all cost. I fastforwarded a lot of it, and it still scarred me (I think)for life. "F-"

Beerfest - 6/10 It's such a stupid, stupid movie. Completely sophomoric and idiotic. But, some parts were actually funny and made me laugh. I guess I'll change my mind when I watch it again after getting a good night's sleep. For now, I'll say I somewhat, not completely, enjoyed this one.

Shoot 'Em Up (2007)
Clive Owen, Monica Belucci, Paul Giamatti
Rated R
Hilariously witty (mature) humour and nonsensical gunfights and stunts give the film a unique flair. It would be entertaining to anyone who's not watching for a fuzzy love story or sensational sci-fi combat. The wit is mostly borne by one-liners and noir-esque dialogue. Was filmed in Toronto.

My favourite quote: "What's the difference between this [BMW] and porcupines? The pricks are on the inside."

7.1/10.0
Gritty. Witty. ...humorously ill-tempered

War (2007)
Jason Statham, Jet Li
Rated R
An action film with a mundane and predictable script and acting, as with most action movies. The unique, highly deceptive plot, however, shines with countless twisty maneuvers of good-guy-bad-guy. It has a more voluminous and heavier plot than expected of action movies, but it trades off entertaining and original action scenes for the plot's unique sophistication. Oddly enough, it's the only Jet Li movie I've seen without his Wu Shu martial arts. :?

6.7/10.0
Ordinary. Consistently paced. Twisty, clever plot.

300 (2006) -- After a friend of mine told me for the Nth time that I should watch it, I finally succumbed. It was better than I expected, but of course, I'm not a big fan of pre-1800s movies, and I had seen the comic before, so I was expecting a majour flop on both counts. Still, despite so many cliches and having seen the "This is Sparta!" image everywhere, I tried not to be unimpressed in the scenes where this happened. All in all, the fight sequences were impressive and the cinematography amazing. 8/10.

Simpsons, The Movie - It felt like a longer Simpsons episode, which is not a bad thing. I had some good laughs with it but they could've worked better the Springfield isolation thing. How would no one think of digging a hole?

The Comebacks....

This doesn't need any comment. It was bad. Worse than Superbad, and only slightly better than Superstar.

The only good parts were Stacy Keibler, Frank Caliendo, & Andy Dick.
Seriously, it was so bad, you could practically see it in the eyes of Dennis Rodman, Will Arnett, and Dax Shepard that they regretted this movie.

How on earth anyone who managed to produce the Wedding Crashers which is funny as hell, managed to make this pile of crap.

Interstate 60
What a perfect movie!. I enjoyed every sec of it. now I'm asking to myself why did I not watch this movie before.

10/10

Sweeney Todd
another movie of Tim Burton Johnny Depp and some ketchup corporation.nice musical but it was kinda boring for me.

The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! - 7/10

Good for a few laughs.

We watched Naked Gun as well. Well 1 & 2. Both very funny. 8/10.
When i was younger i used to think naked gun 2 was the funniest film ever, its not as funny anymore, but still good. Airplane is better tho.

It had it's funny moments, but it was mostly just mindless "wouldn't it be cool if" idiocy with some bad acting and stupid plot devices for good measure. Jumped the shark during the skydiving scene. I'd rather have re-watched Resident Evil: Extinction (which also sucked).

I watched Bullett last night on Universal HD, it's been a long time since I've seen that movie and I forgot how cool it was. It was even better in HD on my new, bigger TV.

I also watched this one in History class. Very good classic indeed. At that day in age, they thought those politicians were corrupt and getting away from the beliefs of the founding fathers, what would they think if they saw today? Of course that's a whole other subject that we don't need to discuss here. ;)

I watched Terminator 2: Judgement Day recently on AMC (forgot what it represented). The plotline is intricate, but the acting of the actor playing John Connor could have been better. There is not much to say on Arnold Schwarzenegger; his deadpan character is definitely suitable for his actual disposition, though. The casting otherwise is excellent, especially that of the second Terminator.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day- 9.34/10

Saw this last weekend. I liked it. Cute. Good story line. Doesn't insult the audience at the end like I thought it would. Overall 👍 Probably not one I'll purchase, but it's close.

Night at the Museum - 6-8/10 This one is for the kiddies. I thought it was OK. It's a bit simple, childish and silly. But, I don't think this movie was made for adults. My oldest boy thought it was good, but the younger one loved it. So, 6 for adults, 8 for kids. A great family movie.

Rogue Assassin

Hmmm, what can I say. It does what it says on the box.

My friend advertised it to me as: kicking, punching, killing, and maybe even a car chase. And, there was a car chase!

The cars were one of the highlights for me. Ferrari's and Lamborghini's making a showing, and the fact the main car in the movie was a Spyker was cool. Sounds the business.

The rest of the movie? Well, I thought the plot did well and certainly didn't need the ending twist. 100% un-necessary IMO. But other than that it was good... for a kung-fu movie.

Step Up 2: The Streets - 6.5/10

The story line was okay but really what I enjoyed was all the dance sequences. It's amazing what they do.

Untouchables - Finally! I had seen just 10-15 minutes of it, here & there, I finally bought it on DVD. It did not dissapoint. It truly is one of the best gangster movies I've ever seen. Sean Connery, Kevin Costner, Robert De Niro, Andy Garcia, and that dude who played the Treasury Dept. accountant, they all brought their A-Game. It was some of the best performances I've seen from everybody involved in this movie. Highly recommended. "A+"

Silence of the Lambs - It was much better than I remembered. Another movie I've been wanting on DVD for the longest time. Jodie Foster is still good in this film, and Anthony Hopkins is just amazing. Like the Untouchables, it's damn near perfect. "A+"

War (Or Rogue Assassin as ferrari_chris refered to it as) - Seemed better than i remembered at the cinema. Its pretty dumb and badly made. But any film with Jason Statham & Jet Li is watchable for me. And the finale fights are brilliant.
7/10

Over Her Dead Body - suprisingly funny, if very cliche'd at the end. 7/10

Juno - For the most part utter boredom. I dont get these "comedies" at all. 4/10

Derailed - 4/10

Amazingly, somehow this movie made me like Jennifer Aniston a little. As for the rest of the movie it seemed unoriginal like I've seen it before and not only that but it was Friggin slow the whole time. It was more Clyde Owen worrying about crap the whole time. Only thing I could think of close to this movie is The Game w/ Micheal Douglas although that was really thrilling more than this movie.

Lucky Slevin - What an great movie to watch and the storyline is brilliant 9.5/10

Spy Game - The storyline was meh, but he actions were fun to watch and. 7/10 because Brad Pitt was in it

Be Kind Rewind - A bit sappy ending, but over all i liked this. Funny and generally a nice film. 7/10

Appie there is a "number" in that title. But i agree, Lucky Number Slevin is brilliant. The twists were brilliant and the dialogue was class.
