...decreasing the front traction from 40 to 25 percent.

...One more thing, you can fiddle with LSD...

did you try GT-R without those? it's common knowledge in GTP that GT-R's handle better without LSD or VCD.

Supra beats R32
Supra beats R33
If that is the case, I'd quite like to race against you with an R33. If the Supra RZ is faster with a Supra-experienced driver than the GT-R33 is with a Skyline-experienced driver, perhaps we should prove this? Looks like we have a Supra-experienced driver and a Skyline-experienced driver, so do you want to prove yourself right? In other words, do you accept a little challenge between our prized road cars?

turbo lag
The Supra is faster in speed but the skyline has better handling

Ok, I'll B Spec a Supra RZ and Skyline on EVERY non special condition track on the game and post the results here.

I'll use B Spec because It'll be fairer, always set to 3.

Hmm I'm up to that challenge, if it's possible. I can go with either car.

And about the Top speed test, "That's an R34".
But I can see why you would post this result because some less knowledgeable people on this board think that the RZ has a better top speed than any skyline, that's a shame.

And about the Top speed test, "That's an R34".
Congratulations.

Running the 300mph Club, I think I can be expected to know which cars are capable of what. I know full well that the fastest GT-R in the 300mph Club is an R34-generation car made in 2002. Something you might not have noticed is the 1989-designed R32 S-Tune acheiving a speed of 308.65mph, which is also faster than the fastest Supra. Which is eight years newer in conception.

Anyway, my challenge was pretty much directed at Pink_the_Floyd in particular, but if you'd like to take his place if he declines then I'd be OK with that. But surely the leader of 'Team Toyota' should drive the Supra against the leader of the 'Skyline Squadron', to truly maximise the cars' potential?

DE

Haa lol I didn't know until I searched there are actual Teams.
Wow

Yo..., Just let me know... I'm ready when ever your ready.

you're welcome. LSD and VCD are no good for GT-R unless you're chasing 300mph membership.

Pink_the_Floyd
Don't ask me, I ain't either a Skyline or Supra specialist.
I didn't expect you to use a Skyline, but I would've thought your team might require some sort of knowledge of Supras? Perhaps not, as when Team Toyota used a JGTC Supra against the Skyline Squadron, I seem to recall only one time being posted from your team - which wasn't yours. It's amazing really how misleading names (and promises) can be...

DE

That's not my fault, I don't know what Downshift was having.

Meh, anyway, I just like Toyota's, so does me team, but we ain't no world best specialists...

I'm not quite sure how Downshift pulling out of the race affected your ability to submit a time...?

So, you won't try this challenge?

DE

It depends what you define as being 'fast'

In theory, the combined 4wd setup and superb braking capabilities put the GTR above the Supra when overall performance in track racing is concerned.

However, on the other hand the Supra has more power at hand especially when chasing 300mph runs. The GTR nevertheless is better in the vast majority of areas such as braking, 0-60, 0-60-0, aerodynamics, cornering capability as well as it's heritage.

A wise choice would be the GTR unless of course you are searching for outright speed.

Note: Cars compared in this message are considered the 97' Supra TT vs. 1999 R34 GTR.

That post sums up my thoughts well, GT Pro. I couldn't argue with any of it. +Rep

(Except perhaps top speed runs, although no 1999 GT-R34 has been tested for 300mph capabilities, it's possible it could outrun the Supra. But stock vs. stock, the Supra has a higher top speed.)

DE

Yup. Supra is more traditional sportscar, whereas GT-R is Nissans technology showcase.

Toyota Supra Wins - 12.
Nissan Skyline Wins - 1.

What I Noticed.

The Toyota Supra is quite alot faster than the Skyline, giving the edge at La Sarthe and Fuji. When it came to cornering, the Skyline was slower through, but had less understeer.

I presume, George, that this was done in B-Spec?

And please tell us exactly what models you used, saying 'Skyline' and 'Supra' really isn't enough.

DE

Yes, B Spec, speed set to 3 on both cars on every track.

Skyline M.N.P II (I think it's II, but whichever one it's from the new car garage not used).

Supra RZ.

In that case, I will disregard that test - B-Spec is incapable of driving cars at more than 50-75% of their full potential, and it performs better with some cars than others. Maybe your B-Spec driver can handle RWD cars better than 4WD cars, maybe all B-Spec drivers handle RWD better than 4WD. It's common knowledge that B-Spec cannot drive, for example, the Gillet Vertigo properly. Who is to say that this isn't the case with Skylines, or the reverse with Supras?

I'm not coming up with stupid arguments in favour of Skylines, I am just pointing out how little is known about the inner workings of B-Spec. A hundred things can influence the way it drives, we don't know anything about when and where it prefers to drive which cars. So, B-Spec cannot be used to compare two totally different cars.

Besides, if B-Spec drove a Fiat 500R faster than a TVR Cerbera, this does not mean the Fiat is faster, now does it?

DE

I only used B Spec to make it as fair as possible, I'm better with FR's than 4WD's.

So what's up with the challenge. I'll drive the Supra RZ, I may not have the reputation as a specialist on GTP but if I would post my time for the WRS Qualifier. I would be somewhere in the top between 6-15 in Division 1. Since my Max drive is broken I can't submit a video but I can provide pictures.
