Why do people shower in the morning?

make the most out of it, put things in your hair, it's a perfect storage:

You forgot the "true" classic.

It's really useful if you are attacked by a rabid dog. It serves as an excellent distraction. Or if things don't go too well, perhaps it will cause confusion with the coroners who will try to figure out where the extra bone came from...

and I end up going to lunch, still not knowing, and then wonder what all the looks are for!

You're in China. Just act confident and if anyone asks, say you put it there.

I shower in the morning.
1. It wakes me up and makes me feel fresh for the day.
2. I work with people in close proximity and I would much rather have 0-8 hours of possible body smells than 10-18 hours of possible bodily smells.
3. I don't sweat much during the day but often wake up in a pool of sweat in the night - winter or summer.
4. My hair has nothing to do with my choice. I don't wash my hair daily. I tend shower in the evening when I need to wash my hair so that it is dry by morning so I can straighten it. I don't use a hair drier. Not sure if I own one.

People tend to poo in the morning. Also shave, and fix bed-hair. (I would suggest shaving, pooing, then showering and fixing hair in that order for optimal results.)

Back when I had hair I just used one of those spritz bottles to get it wet in the morning, 5 seconds, no problem.

Poo happens.... you shouldn't neglect your poo hygiene such that taking one makes you feel gross.

There is also the comedogenic argument at hand here, where sleeping on the side of your face for ~8 hrs can contribute to clogging pores and thereby produce acne, whether you've showered or not before going to bed (consider that most people already wash their face before sleeping and some may still suffer from it).

Because their hair is oily from the day. Put your oily head on your pillow case and suddenly you're rubbing that all over your face the moment you roll over. Soaping your face and getting into bed with oily hair is pointless. Especially after multiple nights of soaking your pillowcase in your hair oils.

There are many matters of convenience that can be taken into account with showering in the AM such, for example, as placing your contact lenses in for the day while you're "still" clean.

My wife showers at night and puts contacts in in the morning. No problems.

And let's not forget that sleep is not the only thing that happens in bed—while many couples do like to shower after intimacy, sometimes you're so tired and relaxed that it'd just be disruptive to do so.

This is one of the biggest reasons to shower at night. You shower before intimacy (and then maybe a quick wipe down after at the sink). This way, you're intimate when you're the cleanest and least smelly. That bodes well for intimate acts that require good hygiene (which are all the good ones).

Here again, the evening shower wins.

Wipe down in the sink? I've got wet wipes for that!

I couldn't bring myself to [you know what] without a proper scrub down in the shower before hand, but I'm more of a morning guy which causes a break in the flow of things, if you get my meaning.

Yea, I used to use those. Maybe I should start again.

Here again, evening is better. You and your partner have better control over your appearance in the evening. Also, intimacy naturally lends itself to sleeping AFTER, rather than before.

You can't imaging the amount of times I've nearly been late for an afternoon's work because of certain hormones released after 'marital duties'.

And this is how I know you're an engineer.

That aside, I shower in the morning to wake up, shave, and address body odor. Also helps with doing my hair.

I often shower at night if I don't feel clean at the end of the day.

I don't get it. You shower right before the portion of the day that you're about to get dirty again, so you minimize the amount of time that you're clean. Also you schedule bed time (the time where you literally press the dirt and oil right up against your skin for 8 hrs) to be the time when furthest from your shower and are most dirty.

So, why do you shower in the morning? I'll accept two answers:

1) I'm a chick and my hair looks better when I do it right out of the shower
2) I shower twice a day. Once at night (which makes sense) and once in the morning (for no apparent reason).

If you select choice number one I'd suggest washing your hair in the morning and the rest of yourself in the evening.

Discuss.
I agree 100% and its nice to FINALLY find someone else that agrees with me on this. I have ALWAYS showered at night right before I go to bed. People say I am crazy. It truly makes the most sense.

For example. You mow your lawn or are outside and get sweaty. Maybe you are a smoker or are around smokers. Then you lay in your bed for 6-8 hours with all that dirt. You literally sleep in your sweat, soil, smoke, fumes, bacteria, and dirt all night long. Then day after day it collects on your bed and pillow. Just imagine if you happen to have a flea or other yard or air bugs land on you. Then you carry those to bed. :yuck::yuck:

I have argued this many times. I rarely ever get zits or any other kind of skin issues and its rare I am ever sick. I cant count the amount of people I know that shower in the morning and have zits or other hygene issues and are sick much more often than I am. I just dont understand people only taking showers in the morning and laying in their filth all night.

I have to shower in the morning to wake me up. I am not a morning person in anyway so most of the time I drag myself out of bed and shower just to be awake for when I head out of the house.

I have to say, I'm an extreme anti-morning person. So much so that back when I tried showering in the morning I would skip days of showering because I over-slept. Showering in the evening is in part because I can't wake up.

Once again, evening wins.

People make/buy coffee in the morning because it helps to waken them up, regardless of the amount of time consumed. To get to my maximum working efficiency earlier I take a cold shower and that wakes me up in 5-10 mins while if I didn't do that it could take me 1-2 hours to properly wake up.

Do you have breakfast at night too? It will save you time in the morning. But people who eat breakfast/shower in the morning do so because it is the start of a new, potentially working day.

If you miss your shower in the morning due to lack of time then that does nothing to say that showering in the morning is bad, it just means that you didn't go to bed/sleep or wake up early enough.

I now see this thread as a pointless bicker fest.

Fine, there's no right or wrong, there's only personal preference. Case closed.

You are not everyone, do keep this in mind.

What works best for you does not work best for others. I will not be alert at all during the day if I have no showered in the morning - I simply do not "wake up" with out warm water.

It seriously takes me like ~15 minutes to wake up. Once I'm up, dressed and roaming the house getting my lunch together, etc. I'm officially awake. I don't drink coffee, and energy drinks put me to sleep.

Never understood why it takes people hours to "wake up".

Shocker, but people are different.

Mostly circadian cycle in this case, which is also why some people are night owls, like myself. There have been studies to suggest that genetics plays some part in this as well.

What I do know is, regardless of when I get to bed, I do not like to be up before 9am. Ever. And regardless of when I wake up, I tend to want to stay up till 2am or so.

I personally like taking showers at night because it allows me too to feel fresh when sleeping. Even when your sleeping on that filthy oil etc., you might as well clean yourself so you at least FEEL like your clean. Then I would take shower in morning, just for the heck of it... Besides when else are you going to take a shower? Afternoon? You'll just get more dirty. Evening no, I'm still doing stuff by then. I also take night showers because it helps me sleep and not add more dirt and oil to what I'm already sleeping on..

This, except switch it to 11-12 and 3-4. The problem is once I start getting into that cycle it gets worse and worse until eventually I'm staying up until 8 or so in the morning. Of course that's only if I have a job where I work the afternoon shift.

My showering varies. When I have long hair I usually shower at night and only every other day or so. It takes longer and it takes longer to dry, thus the morning doesn't work well for me. I also like my hair more after a day or two of not washing it. For the first 24 years of my life I was a morning showerer. It woke me up and made me feel cleaner throughout the day(even if I showered the prior night). The only time I enjoy waking up are on race days, any other time I hate it. Sitting under a relaxing hot shower for a few minutes is like my little treat for being able to wake up.

My pimples are extremely random, I haven't found showering at any particular time or even at all to make a difference.

Like I said for the first 24 I showered in the morning and every morning, now it's completely random and I often go a day or two without. I wipe my ass well enough that that isn't an issue.

Edit: Think of it this way, maybe. If you could only brush your teeth once a day when would you, morning or night? The night might be the healthiest thing to do since you've been eating all day, but you yourself would probably feel cleaner if you did it in the morning and other people would likely prefer your company that way.

Maybe I'm just lazy as ****. But I don't shower in the morning. I usually wake up at 8:45, roll out of bed, chow down some cereal while I'm feeding the dog, get dressed (Usually same T-Shirt I slept in), brush teeth, and leave for work at 8:55.

I usually shower at night. But sometimes I don't. Cause I can't be ****ed. So I'll just have one the next evening. EZ.

This is me! Except an hour earlier.

My morning anymore consists of me hitting snooze anywhere from 5:45-6:40 or 7:00, I then go to the bathroom and get my toothbrush ready for my morning piss/brush, spit, splash face, jump in my car and stop at the nearest gas station for my breakfast, Monster and powdered donuts.

I don't shower in the mornings anymore, I've become to lazy and it doesn't really make me feel much better at my current job or I just don't care.

If I'm seeing a girl I try as hard as I can to shower after work for obvious reasons.

Why does it bother you? Plus, it is not about win or lose... everyone does what they preffer.

Have a problem in waking up to take a shower? Take when ever you wake up. Also, why just one? Take two, morning and night. God, the water in the world is not going to end because you are taking a shower.

Just to say, brush your teeth in the night, go to sleep, wake up, but don't brush your teeth again in the morning, you haven't ate anything while you were sleeping. It should be almost clean as when you went to bed.

Showering in the morning is cheaper than leaving the AC on all night. Even cheaper-er if you don't use a water heater... and not using a water heater wakes you up, right quick. Which is why I shower in the morning.

I also shower in the evening if I've been out. Showering in the evening to feel fresh while you sleep is cheaper than turning on the AC all night so you don't sweat and itch. Still cheaper if you use a water heater... which is relaxing and will help make you drowsy. Which is why I sometimes shower in the evenings.

Evening wins for you but I don't drink coffee and my stomach doesn't handle breakfast all that well so the best way I've found to wake up is a shower. Many times I shower twice a day because of hockey. Once morning and once after hockey.

What works for you works for you but I don't personally over sleep my shower time. Takes me 10 minutes to shower and throw clothes on so it's pretty brutal if you over sleep that.

If there is one bit of info that should be past down from generation to generation is this....

If you go to sleep with an itchy bum, you're going to wake up with a smelly finger.

Fact.

Granted it's not quite "with great power comes great responsibilty."
