I'm on the fence. I just made another post saying I'd wait until the first major content update, but.. I do enjoy the hell out of Gr.4 racing. I'm not nearly good enough to race online yet so the custom races are fun, but a complete waste of a reward. If you go in with the mindset of making credits they suck, but if you go in just wanting to race they're great fun.

I'm just a stickler for really bad design decisions, and this game is rife with them. As much as I genuinely love motorsport and automobiles, there's so many things with this game that keep me from fully enjoying playing it.

Gran Turismo is a live-service series now. PD has all sorts of metrics to measure player engagement and retention - if they start seeing those numbers slide they'll be forced to rectify it.

I guess... Just like PD I do the bare minimum. Get my 1* ticket, laugh when it inevitably lands on the lowest value "prize", and then shut the game off. My dog likes the cursor as it moves across the screen so I sometimes load it up to amuse her for a minute. So at least she has some fun with the game, lol

After the credit cuts I just didn't feel like playing. I was so surprised that there wasn't even an in game compensation for the server outage. But today I came back in and decided to grind it out and get the GT1 911 while I still can. Played about four hours straight only for it to go out of stock before I was done and be replaced by an eighteen and half million credit McLaren F1. Doing the math at my rate of grind it'd take me twenty eight straight hours of grind to buy that thing. And that broke me.

I just had to step back and look at myself. I hadn't had any fun for those four hours. And I couldn't even imagine doing that for another four let alone almost thirty. I realised I didn't really have fun in general because everything with the game was reduced to getting credits for cars before they go out of stock and that meant playing events I didn't care for in cars I didn't care for to maybe afford a car I wanted. I just can't enjoy the smaller fun events because they make me feel like I'm wasting my time not making credits for the cars that are about to go out of stock. I just can't enjoy this game anymore.

I think I'll come back if they fix the event payouts but probably not if they just add new events with slightly better payouts because I'd still just feel like I'm wasting my time playing the older ones.

I have no reason to stop, yes the payouts are crap and some cars are priced ridiculously high. However I would have probably never gotten them in the first place as I’ve been playing a few hours a day and I’m just now at 25 hours played…I’ve missed all the grinding and potential money.

I will hope they add more as I will be very careful of the next cars I buy.

Still the best racing game I’ve played..

Nah. Any time I've tried has just been painful. It's not worth it.

I popped in the game tonight and agree with your assessment. It kind of felt like a bad date. It feels wrong to dedicate too much time to this when it’s apparent Sony/PD doesn’t care about my time.

I don’t think the game is irredeemable. I will be happy to dive back in if a real apology is issued with constructive solutions, as opposed to the “sorry, not sorry” from earlier this week.

I just hope the backlash will lead to meaningful change.

Certainly won’t be shelving it, I’m mostly done with the SP and only grind when I need a car for sport and to upgrade and I couldn’t guarantee winning that fisherman’s ranch race as I hate dirt racing, the mini racing on goodwood was just long enough to do in between sport races. I think PD ballsed it up in the first place but very annoying to post nerf them. I am sure more will come but that’s probably higher spec longer lap races :( so for my 50k I’m doing the truck Daytona oval and the blue moon pan American race

I love the game and really enjoyed it so far.

I do lack more single player content, and endurance races, but i hope this will come in future update.

I will keep playing because I love motorsport. However (I hope PD looks at this site), they REALLY need to look back at everything with a exceptional fine eye.

Problems I have with GT7:

  1. Anything past National A licence isn't needed. You can complete the game without IB, IA, and S
    1. Based on the above, you will not see LMP races anywhere in the campaign besides Missions and multiplayer
    2. Also they made the IB, IA, and S pointless unless you want to get them out the way.
I'm hoping that maybe in future updates, they'll have Menu Cafe 40-78 that involves IB/IA Licenese, and maybe 79-89 that involve S License.

Actually, it does. I would be grinding if the payouts rewarded my time adequately. I am not interested in golding licenses and missions. The only thing that makes a difference to me is acquiring cars and driving them. I would like to do this in the most varied way possible. I would like all that variety to be roughly equally rewarding, payout wise.

Yeah, same here. I know many like them and some say you're not completing the game properly, but I've always hated the license test part of the game. At least you can just bronze them to get the pass... same with missions. I also have zero interest in taking photos and scapes. Zero interest in trophies, platinum's etc.

I love racing, the championships, anything tbh. And accumulating money/xp and cars (to a degree anyway)... although not fussed about grinding for 20 mill cars, so that doesn;t bother me about them being seemingly well out of reach for now. If I can gradually build garage with cars under a 1 mill or two I'll be happy. I have little doubt economy will change and load more races will be added to make things as many expected. How long that will take, who knows?

I do love the racing though and for the first time have some interest in gradually tuning certain cars, playing around with settings and lapping them to get understanding of what the changes do and how they interact. Lack of fresh racing options may be a good thing in this regard, as I finally start tuning more to keep things interesting. On previous versions or forza, would just hammer through earning credits, cars and just stick some upgraded parts on to get to top of PP range for races, not really knowing what I was doing, or using other peoples tunes. Never really raced online, so putting the laps in and understanding mechanics, will hopefully allow me to burst onto the scene :D.

Particularly interested in modding the M4, so I'll buy a 2nd one once I've completed the cafe stuff. Mod/tune the hell out if it and keep the other one stock (apart from tyres). Then make the same changes to my M3 F80 IRL :D.

Plus only driving with abs on, so no reliance on aids.

Do love the driving dynamics, sound etc.

I will carry on playing this until GT8 comes out.
It's a car driving game, and the cars and driving in this are great!
It could keep the content it has today, and I'd be happy.
But this is the basic building block for more, just like GTS was - I have a feeling that in good time this will be hailed as the best in the series.

Right now, a lot of people are rightfully mad at Polyphony Digital with how things are with the game. Some people are even boycotting. However despite all the anger and controversy, will you keep playing the game? Personally...I am going to keep playing because despite the issues, I am still having fun with the game. I spend most of my time in Sport Mode so car collection isn't really a huge thing for me. I'll get the cars I want and spend most of my time online racing. Besides, maybe the future updates will make up for the decreased payouts and microtransactions.
Played GT-Sport since the beta and going to be playing this the same way, by doing races i find fun or want to experiment with. And of course online as well. This week it turns out that RACE C is fantastic combination of racecraft and strategy, if that is any indication of the future online races.

I am mad about the money thing and dont like how it is but i also dont have an other racing game i like and plays like GT or Forza. Horizon 5 i dint like that mutch and a new Motorsport is dat away.

I do like GT7 its mutch better i expected but it Needs more recent car for example like the Black Series.

So Lets hope for good updates and we know from GT Sport they can do good updates

I will still play it because I still have super fun with it. I will just ignore unobtainable cars like legends and some "invitiation ones". I will just keep collecting group 3 and group 4 cars, and maybe all LMPs since they don't have any time restrictions.

I still have decent cars collection, and it keeps growing if you consider only brand central/used cars which don't have time restriction the economy isn't that bad.

And legends cars well... I will be reconsidering them only if PD will do something about it. It is just not worth my time. I don't mind high prices for them, just give us real chance to earn this.

I just logged in and saw the price of the McLaren F1. 18.5 million... 21 hours straight of grinding windmills. This is depressing. Like actually real life depressing. I love that McLaren and in every racing game, if it's available, I go straight for it. This is the first time a video game has made me feel actually crappy in real life. Yeah, sometimes you lose or can't complete something and get frustrated. But this is the first time in my three decades of playing video games when a game actually made me sad in real life. I just feel like I got kicked in the balls. I apologize for being a buzzkill, but this is messed up.

Absolutely! Why would I stop playing a game that brings me joy? It's striking to look at and the AI is much better than GT Sport was and the car sounds are also much better.

Sipping my coffee while watching a replay is sublime, as are the fly in scenes when you first load a championship

I didn't like the servers being down for a little bit over a day but that was, both unforeseen and rare.

Even though I'm not a car collector and I have no interest in building a huge garage, I do feel like reducing the earned credits was NOT showing love for the user base.

Normally, that might not bother me but it really bothers me when I consider that I love tuning the cars AND TUNING THE CARS COST MONEY.

21 hours? All yours in only 1 minute... and £190 :D

attaboy. You go ahead and encourage this despicable behavior. At this point I am hoping every single major publisher burns to the ground.
We lost that battle years ago, if i remember correctly EA made 50% of their profits selling the actual game, the rest is from dlc,mtx etc. Nothing is going to change that for them unless they abandon capitalism.

That's deep hope, 38 menu for an DLC update :)
I would be happy if there is at least 15 menu, I bet there will be only 10. :)
Well... Maybe you are right, but on the other hand those aren't hard to make for PD. It is just set of challenges which unlocks you 3 new cars, they can even use existing ones, or the new dlc ones. They can make a lot of them actually.

Ive got close to max credits sitting there.... waiting for the last car to be slowly released to collect the Plat trophy.

Then I will close this game down untill the future updates Kaz talked about that will make the game way less of a gring... I still expect a grind, its GT of course but the current state is a joke and I really dislike how the system is clearly designed to push people to overpriced mtx.

Thats a no from me

The issue is that with a proper economy and respect for the players, this could be the absolute best driving game of all time. PD have created an incredible gameplay and sensual experience, and it makes you want to see everything the game has to offer. Unfortunately they've decided to cash in to the extreme and hide much of it behind a pay wall, which is inexcusable and frankly cynical. It's a game, it's supposed to let you live out the things you can't do in real life, not simulate exclusivity.

I'll keep playing because it's fun, but I do have a limit and once that's crossed, there's no going back for me; it's just the way I am. I wonder where that line is for this hobby.
