Excellent work Masi this is gonna be fun when it kicks off.

As for the race, i had the speed to win if i didn't get stuck in the pack and crash after i got by the Nizmos.
In the GTR I was struggglin to pass the Nizmo Z's on the straights too, had to get a way better run out of corners if i was goin to stand any chance of passing. But thats Laguna.

Anyway excellent race by all and hopefully more of the same next race.

I do sincerely apologise to everyone involved for not turning up, as I killed my internet connection trying to change settings so I could connect, it won't happen again.

Too lazy to take pictures... will try tomorrow.

No worries man :)

Masi here you go:

Replay D2 Race at Laguna Seca

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/16572691/PS3.zip

Let me know if the link is working.

It's the right file, but apparently, i can't view it since im NTSC. I just need the exact same stats like from Division 1 (Includes all the drivers that did not finish or got disconnected).

Maybe Andil could pick it up and do the same spreasheet.

Could've been great if everyone from GT300 drove a clean/consistent race like Moleman. But i guess that's not possible with a track like Laguna. This class is shaping up to be a real close battle from here on out 👍

For me - had a good start, knew the inside line would be a big benefit here anyway so took P2 into the first corner. From there, I was going to be willing to sit behind Senninha and see if he would make a mistake; luckily for me that came as early as Turn 3/4 - at which point I knew I had to push to try and build a gap to the rest of the GT300 cars. Sonic was having none of it though and kept with me, Masi was a close 3rd too. Sonic passed me twice down the outside of turn 1, but twice I regained the lead through turn 2. After having to take a couple of defensive lines in previous corners, he then managed to get a really sweet exit from the corner prior to the corkscrew and passed me under braking.

Immediately ducked inside at the next corner (banked left after the corkscrew), where I was definitely a lot quicker than most, car was balanced so well through there, but couldn't quite hold it. Had to sit tight behind Sonic for a couple of laps but eventually got a good run coming up the hill towards the corkscrew. Braked alongside sonic but he still had the corner for the second part of the corkscrew - no contact, but he got on the power a little early and the back of his car stepped out. That gave me no more than about a 3 second lead, but it was enough to break the tow and give me some breathing space.

From there, tried to push to build a gap towards the stops. After the pit stops, Masi had taken up 2nd in GT300, but I had about a 13 second lead, so I just took an easy pace and managed tyres, meaning I could still put out 1:28s even as late as lap 29. Also wanted to try and put in a quick lap; risky, but to be honest I was a little lonely on track, but managed the quickest time I'd done all day, even from pre-race testing. Stayed well out of the way of GT500s, bailed into the run off at Turn 1 to let Sigma and Sincx pass who I could see were definitely having a good scrap, and then just kept the car on the black stuff to bring it home - didn't run off circuit once and I think the consistency and decent pace definitely paid off. 👍

Edit: I will try doing that spreadsheet later on, got to head out now but can do it this evening :)

I had the perfect setup for this race and very easy to run low 27s every lap. It was my own fault i came in contact with Masi, i mean in over 100 laps i never mess up on the corckscrew but i coudn't keep my cool in the opening lap and just took it a bit too tight. I am really sad i coudn't chase you down Andil :( oh well i am already set and ready to go for Nurburgring GP/F

Personally fridays isn't so good for me because of parties and going out, rather it was sundays or a weekday. This question made me wonder how old our race drivers are.. hehe :-)

It's because of our alcohol and party culture here in Denmark, I also went straight out with some friends, right after i lost connection.
But I think its okay to wait for 24.00 to go out, but 23.30 is also late for us to start a race, then it gets a little to late. (yesterday 00.30)

But i think the age difference between the drivers in this series is actually pretty mixed. I'm 18 some may be 30? i don't know, but people seems nice and very friendly ! 👍

Weekdays are bad for me with college, probably won't even be home to do qualifying to be honest but Friday nights are fine with me as I would be going out on a thursday night when at college or a saturday night at home.

On laping GT300 cars. First, I had no problems at Laguna. Great job. Some held their normal racing line and some changed to let you pass which made for some uncertainty.

Here is my take on the best way. The GT300 cars should just race as normal. To overtake a GT300 car, I don't like to get too close in the prior corner as closing speeds are very different and I don't want to hit the rear of the GT300. This mean there is quite some catching up to do on the following straight and overtaking will come towards the end of the straight. If a GT500 takes the inside line entering in the braking zone to pass I think the GT300 car should let off for ~0.2 sec and let the GT500 car pass. The GT500 car is ~5 sec faster per lap, so getting stuck be a GT300 car for 1/2 a lap is very frustrating.

Again, above has absolutely nothing to do with any incident at Laguna, its just me thinking ahead.

was this with hard tires and stock, unmodded cars? Room BHP/CV cap?

Man, you guys are insanely skilled, I managed to match your low 1.34's @ Fuji on Soft tires with my GT-R (I'm a pad player tho, dunno whether that gives me an advantage or not) but there's no way I'll ever get around those times at Laguna Seca.

Your car had 352 HP??

I guess i choosed the wrong car. My Lexus is only 335. :ill:

Don't start this again. The cars are very similar in performance despite the difference in numbers. Look at which car won D1. And came second.

Arta has a 50kg weight addition to make them equal in SuperGT. Only thing is I'm not sure if its enough in the game after engines have been ran in.

I think the game really needs restrictive as it's very hard to have evenly matched online races with cars that are suppose to be almost equal.

The extra power of the Arta would have been a good advantage on the long pull up to the corkscrew from turn 5.

Racing Hard Tyres and Stock, yes.

I'm a pad player too - it's all about practise. The day before I was doing 1:25's and struggling to get into 1:24 land, then slowly managed to find the time.

It's also about finding a nice tune for the car, as that can be worth 2-3 seconds! (esp on a track like Laguna Seca where there is so little margin for error).

Still impressive nonetheless! :)

Any tip you feel like sharing about tuning the GT-R's on soft tires, besides as little camber as possible and hardened suspensions on the back?

I had the same issue, i would go to the left to overtake and then the gt300 would go left to let me pass, i'm not giving out about anybody in particular.

But there needs to be a consistency in what everybody does.

Makes it easier for everybody.👍

Edit; When is the next race? this Friday? or Friday week?

The Lexus has +50kg. The ARTA has +75.

I'd have to check my broken-in car HP stats again, but if you calculate power-to-weight, the Lexus and ARTA are actually third and fourth behind the RX7 and the Subaru. And all four are remarkably similar.

The maximum capabilities of the cars are very, very close, as has been demonstrated in race. At least, they are for the Lexus, ARTA, and RX7. No one has really pushed the Subaru to it's limits yet so we're not really sure what it's capable of, but it's probably not an unreasonable assumption at this point that it's similar. Until someone proves otherwise anyway.

We went through this same stuff with the Nismo Z/GTR/NSX. They have big differences on paper, but on the racetrack they're very evenly matched. Until someone can show me one car dominating, I refuse to believe that there's a problem. Pointing at the HP stats doesn't cut it.

Setting for Lauguna:

Aero - Max front/back

Gearing may have also been set to around 180ish

everything else stock.

The extra downforce is by far the greatest thing that can be done in tuning, worth over a second per lap I recon. For those who haven't tried it, I fully recommend it, even on fast tracks.

Yeah your probably right about Denmark :-)

The age difference is cool and not an issue, people are indeed very friendly, but I guess we have different freetime so its just to set a time and date and we'll have to deal with it

How can you have too many friends on PSN? doesn't make sense?

What is the maximum amount?

Any day is good for me apart from mondays, as i work late and dont get home till about 10pm GMT.

My very quick recap of race....

Had quite a good 1st lap which i think got me up to 5th then i sat behind Apollo and Johnkiller waiting for them to either know each other off or make a mistake...
They both had a few taps but nothing major just some love kisses lol, but then finally i think apollo went wide and spun into the wall (think it caused alot of damage).
Then i seemed to be quicker than John but couldnt see a gap to overtake safely.
I then made a move on the inside after turn 4 and got him.
At the cockscrew i was very cautious as it was the first time i didnt have a car infront of me and then BANG (only a tap) i thought it was all over but luckerly john got me on the side which for some reason didnt damage my car lol.
After that i tried to push but trying to save tyres.
I think the last 5 or so laps i pushed hard as i could see i was catching the top 2 guys very quickly, i was like 13 seconds behind and then at the end i was 5 i wish there was more laps lol.

Was a very good race im looking forward to germany lol

i am also on a pad, and yes my thumbs do hurt after these races....

Well i took pics of the race to do the race report.

I just don't want to finish the work now. :dopey:

maybe tonight or tomorrow i will post the race report of D2.

Some pics of the battle with @Nycrom, Paggydaddy and i, and then Nycrom and i:tup:

Really nice pics mate! It looks epic with three yellowhat's driving close :) I'm sad that i hit you from behind, sorry for that :) i could have been a nice big battle between all of us :)
