He is a very famous YT'er, in fact; founder and main host of That Angry Videogame Nerd show. Although it is pretty surprising to hear people comparing me to him, haha.
Your angry rant about Phoenix Games is starting to remind me of AVGN's hate towards LJN.

But Niku doesn't have the mouth, or the temper!

"LAUGHING JOKING NUMBNUTS"

I can have both the sour mouth and the bad temper, but only on select times. My timing isn't as "consistent" as AVGN's is, haha.

And I didn't even play many Phoenix Games' games, imagine that. Or LJN ones for that matter...

But I digress, let's not stray too far off-topic.

So it is one of those rare games which were actually developed and not merely published by Atlus... Fair enough, thanks for clarifying that one. Regardless of who made what, both Battle Gear and Road Rage are mostly unknown games, and not entirely good ones at that either.

Correction: the game was actually developed by Cave, which is perhaps notable for their shmups. The game itself was actually called "Touge 3" in Japan.

Related to that series, I have played Touge Max G (which had motorcycles and a tractor as unlockable vehicles, belive it or not) and Saisoku Drift Master (Peak Performance in US, with parts of Pikes Peak in it before GT2). ;)

Oh, and Battle Gear isn't that unknown... if you went to arcades. I actually wanted to play BG4T so I can prepare myself to be an actual driver

Does it make you mad when "up" is jump?

So it is a Cave-devloped game, then? Then the involvment of both Phoenix and Atlus is a bit odd... Are they both playing the role of publishing company for Touge 3? Since neither were involved in the making of the game itself...

And well, árcades aren't really common in my área, so that might explain my lack of knowledge about Battle Gear.

Sheeet, I dunno... I'd be angrier over the fact that the jump failed than the control inputs themselves.

Atlus published it in Japan, Phoenix (helps Atlus, most likely) publish(es) it in Europe. Peak Performance (Touge Max: Saisoku Drift Master) was released with help of JVC in Europe. ;)

Also, regarding James, I thought it was that James from a certain blog I frequently troll...

The gameplay is great but only got destroyed by Midas, having unlicensed cars and outdated graphics.
And the really bad FPS when you start shooting someone and they shoot back. Feels like it's running at like 5FPS. I found a copy yesterday and easily recognized it, had this game originally years ago.

Tommi Mäkinen Rally - a thinly-veiled attempt at cashing in on the popularity of Colin McRae Rally, which I distinctly recall one reviewer calling a "snotbox".

Not really sure if we can call it a "review" per say, considering that Caddy spends roughly 99.1% of the time being horrified/angered at the disgusting disaster which is unfolding before his (and our) very own eyes... I don't think he has ever made a more brutal bashing of one game/company, unless you're willing to count the second time he reviewed a Phoenix "game" (Snow White & The 7 Clever Boys. And no, that is not a typo, it's just blatant copyright mocking).
Well I do see what you are saying, but you could count it as a review I guess.

I haven't seen the one about Snow White and The 7 Clever Boys yet.

That is Phoenix Games for you; even when they were not ripping off Disney franchises with poorly-made minigame compilations which could be had with a CD from a children's book and were paired with equally terrible animation movies (which were not even made by Phoenix, but rather by another joke of a company known as Dingo Pictures), their own "original" work was bland, cheaply-made and severly lacking in replay value. Dalmatians 3 is the lowest the company has ever stooped, because it is not original in any sense, rips off a far more famous franchise by rehashing a cartoon video with terrible production values and then somehow, Sony believes that it's fitting for the public to buy.
Let's face it, nothing they do is good.

Whatever was SCEA smoking at the time, I want some of that, because it seems like a really darn good drug...
I wouldn't do that....

Even selling the cartoons by themselves via VHS would be a grand waste of tape space.
Yea it should have never existed instead.

If you want to see other "highlights" from badly-animated bonus cartoons in Phoenix Games, these two videos will help you (warning for some slightly NSFW content, mainly plenty of swearing);
I'll take a look at that.

Until something inevitably knocks it off the throwne:

Juiced_-_2005_-_THQ,_Inc..jpg

Music is forgettable at best
GUI is atrocious
average at best customization
Ugly, even in it's day
arbitrary rating system thinly veiled as "rep"
some of the worst voice acting I've ever had the displeasure of hearing
cars handle like....actually the don't handle.
bland tracks
THREE rubberband AIs, and all are 🤬
the only redeeming factor is the rage and pain you get from playing it.
It's not broken. It's DESIGNED LIKE THIS!

I've considered treating copies of this to methodical destruction on a level with Shaq-Fu.
I found it to be entertaining :lol:but...

Is it odd that I like these games?

Well...I may give you an unbelieving stare for a bit. If we talked regularly I'd probably prod a bit from time to time, but in the grand scheme of things if you liked it, more power to you. It may be geared more to your interest, so all I'll say is what I say about COD, You have fun with that, I'll go do something else.

I had some fun with "Street Racing Syndicate 2", which actually was The Fast and the Furious for PS2, of all things. It was based on the third movie and is one of few games to combine shutokou and touge racing in one package, with an okay car list and customization and serviceable physics. Drifting was wacky as hell, though.

Nascar 08.jpg

NASCAR 08. The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 versions specifically. The Playstation 2 version was pretty fun from what I remember.
The graphics aren't that great, even for a mid-2007 game.
The damage model is super sensitive, something as little as rubbing a wall will unrealistically deform your car/truck
The handling model is the worst I've played yet, with unnecessary slow down, I can't take a corner at Daytona any faster than 160 MPH.
Playing with no assists was even worse, the cars would just spin like there was no tomorrow.
There were some omitted features from the Playstation 2 version, like the Whelen Modified Series, for example.

Not sure if it was mentioned but Tokyo drift 2.:yuck: It was flat out boring. Just dull every time you pop in the game.

Other games: Nascar 08, Nascar 09, Nascar 2011, Nascar 14 and 15. Mortal kombat vs DC universes, Resistance burining skies on vita and cod declassified on vita.

Ford is a good car company, but their games aren't so great.

I have no clue why I own these games, they're garbage. Too bad the only store near me that takes PS2 games gives $1.50 for all three.

Exactly what I thought about Inside Line, except it's a lot more bare-bones than the NASCAR games from EA, because EA's games were before DLC became a huge business.

Never played Street Racing, I played Ford vs Chevy, but I didn't like it either and it would be another I would post here. I loved Ford Racing 3 though.

As for Nascar games, despite growing up with them since I was little, I always have thought they were boring anyway. (Nascar Rumble is a HUGE exception though)
