Wouldn't you rather it be the 'Real Racing Simulator'?

Yes PD can't include every car that existed. I'm just saying that I would rather see some old camaros and mustangs because I like muscle cars.

The way i see it, there is a lot of automotive ledgends being left out of GT, and a load of crap cars in there place. A lot of these ledgends i am talking about are from manufacturers already in the game, so why leave them out.

So, just to clarify, you think there's some kind of content meeting where Kaz and the team sit about the table with all the in-game models they've made and choose to leave out a Fox Body Mustang in favour of a Daihatsu Sirion?

I'll give you a clue - it's not a choice.

There's loads of cars I'd like to see in GT including some I don't actually know exist until someone says "Hey, check this!" and it makes me want it in GT.

That doesn't mean that it has to replace anything already in the game or, crucially, that they have actually modelled them.

Hey, what are you on about?
We are not saying they have already modelled them and left them out, we are saying they choose to model these other less well known, boring cars instead of putting in cars like the Firebird, mustangs and other popular vehicles.

No but I mean they choose those cars to be in the game. If we see them in the game it's probably because they want them to be in it. If it's not a choice what is it ?

Well the game is for car enthusiasts. Not just fast car enthusiast, or exclusive car enthusiasts.

Well i myself fail to see how anyone can be enthusiatic about cars such as this

Let me rephrase his question then:

I myself have put many more miles on this:

Than this:

In GT4.

EDIT: I should also add that I have ridden in that model Firebird (as well as the Camaro counterpart) and my personal opinion is that it should have died one generation sooner than it did.

I'd love to see that Firebird in GT5, but that doesn't mean I don't want regular cars like the daewoo in it as well. Some of the closest, most demanding races are in slow cars. Then there's also the great thing of tuning a slow everyday car into a track monster! :)

.

Yes, that is exactly what i am saying.

There isnt, all cars in GT4 (also the slow ones) were important for the car histoy (well, alot of the Japanese i admit), they add cars that were important if they get the licenses (see Porsche), just look at the museum in GT5 Prologue, you will see many slower Japanese cars and what they meant for the automotive history.

Not to mention that we already have tons of supercars in the game.

EDIT: Btw. i cant wait to get my hands on a Fiat 500 to tune it up to a sportscar killer.

I can tell I have been in my job for too long when my immediate response is:

So, so much goes into this kind of decision that there is a 99.99999% chance that it was not a choice, as Famine said.

The Sirion is (or was? Is it still in production?) a very important car for Daihatsu, which is a important manufacturer.

I wouldnt say any car in GT4 had a huge impact in automotive history, but the Sirion X4 is a very interesting version of a pretty popular compact car (120 hp 4x4 in such a car...).

EDIT: It is indeed still in production.

The 4x4 version even had paddle shifting.

I wouldnt say any car in GT4 had a huge impact in automotive history,
Model T and the older 1880 models.

And I know plenty of people on here have refused to see why those are in the game.

 Yeah, the Model T, Benz Patent Motorwagen and the Daimler Motorcarriage were the 3 most important cars in the game, followed by the Auto Union Typ C and the VW Beetle.

Even if there wasn't a meeting in which to decide what cars will be in, a choice was made regardless.

They can only model cars they can model.

That may sound self-referential on the face of it but think about it. They have a modelling day where a bunch of cars turn up. The team descends upon them and photographs them from every possible angle (twice) and records the engine to their standard (idle, 1krpm intervals, redline) and drives it about for a bit. If the car doesn't turn up to the modelling day, they're out of luck - and there's only so many modelling days they can have.

And they're based in Japan, so unless they have one of their scheduled modelling days elsewhere (which also happens, but it's less common and kinda expensive to ship all the equipment and staff to foreign climes) they can only model cars that can turn up. I imagine that there's precious few Gilbern Invaders and Lotus Sunbeams on Japanese shores, let alone ones whose owners are willing to have them pored over by PD (assuming they even know who PD are) and able to get to one of the modelling days.

It doesn't boil down to "So, do we include the Daewoo or the Lagarrarti MCFZontach?". We all know full well that they aren't pushed to exclude things because of space and that Kaz, like me, would put every car in existence in the game if he could. It boils down to whether they even have access to the car. If not they can't include it!

I really like the lower powered cars--my favorite car in the series is the stock suzuki cappuccino. They handle well, don't get into much trouble, and racing turns into a real battle of strategy then. Actually, one of the thing I really liked about Forza1 (only forza I've played) is that I really was never pushed to advance much beyond of my comfortable driving class. I could drive my little D-class races all day--there were enough of them, and they could be made challenging enough, to keep me happy. (granted I wasn't unlocking anything new as I feel I should have been)

On prologue I hated being forced into high-powered cars, especially 'specific model' races. I just want to bop around in a little convertible with a smile on my face, and there just aren't enough races or tracks in prologue to do it for me. What there was was very low in challenge.

I know I'm in the minority, but if gran turismo came up with a 'random road mode' where I could specify a few settings and have an endless scenic drive generated for me, I'd be perfectly happy. No competitors, no timer, just drive. I could really go for that. It'd really let me enjoy the cars for what they are without any distractions.

What are these modelling days you speak of?

Also i don't see why PD can not make a request to include particular cars in the game, especially from manufacturers they already have in the game. Why can't they get there modelling resources from elewhere, or even visit the manufacturers themselves?

They are days where they model cars... Usually lots of them - there's a few examples in the GT4 forums, with a day at Motegi.

They can - and do - request individual models from manufacturers and even owners. There's a story of them going to model a guy's Ruf Turbo R (which ultimately wasn't included - probably because he broke the NDA to tell the story!) at his house, and going over his M5 while they were there...

But it's not always possible for them to get everything they want.

Jay Leno himself said PD came to get some data from this Mclaren F1 once they were in LA and stumbled across his "Tank car" in his garage which is how it got in GT4 (too bad the Mclaren didn't).

Absolutely not. Gran Turismo is not supposed to only be about racing, it's supposed to be an automotive encyclopedia, driving the cars of your dreams on the tracks of your dreams. It's supposed to be for people with a passion for cars. Racing is an add on to the glory you already have.

Keep the toyota Vitx and mazda Demio. Theyre part of Gran Turismo. Just because some people like fast cars only dont mean that everyone does. I enjoy every car I buy in GT and take each one for a spin on Nordschliefe.

Yet another 👎 to dancardesigner.

I own well over 400 cars in GT4, and only about a quarter of them are racecars. Another quarter of them have less than 250hp. Yes, I have complained about what I call "dinkmobiles" in Gran Turismo, cars with less than 100hp. But, by golly, I own a few of them still, and do race them on occasion. If you want a challenge, try going from last place to first in a Suzuki with 60hp. Not even easy. Okay, it's not as thrilling as a Mercedes Benz E190, Ford GT or RUF, and certainly no racecar, but it's the freaking challenge of it! Isn't that what gaming is all about?

And look, I love race modding cars in Forza too, it's one of the big draws to their series, being able to create cars. Well, until the arbitrary 360 car limit rears its ugly head and you have to dump something. So much for car collecting, which I hope isn't an issue with F3. But the thing is, it's the spectrum of motorsports that I crave. If Kazunori-dono puts a car into Gran Turismo, I'm going to honor him enough and the car to race it at least once. And I've only groaned over a very few vehicles, such as the Suzuki, trucks, and the Prius. Sorry, Prius owners, but I meh at your car.

And as said before, yes, Kazunori-dono has issues to deal with. Cars may not be available. Licensing can be a problem. Eventually SONY has to slap Kaz's hands and say, "Release the darn thing!" Otherwise, I wouldn't doubt he'd rather release another upgrade to Prologue to squeeze in one more year's work on GT5.

If having a game loaded with cars of less than 300 hp makes you want to hurl, then Gran Turismo just isn't your game.

Big 👍 to you. Well put.
