Wouldn't you rather it be the 'Real Racing Simulator'?

Thank you for quoting yourself again for no reason. I never said take out any cars. I said GT needs more proper race cars. You understand the difference. Next time you quote me atleast read my post.

Next time you quote you might like to read your own post... it's likely Famine was more responding to your inaccurate comment that all those of us who want slower cars somehow want rid of the faster cars and race cars, which isn't the case - and at least from memory I can't recall any of us having said we don't want race cars...

You're right, you never said they should take out any cars. I believe Famine was responding to your assertion that the "slow cars are fun" side wishes to remove racecars from the game:

Actually, I wave the as many racecars as possible banner.

it's likely Famine was more responding to your inaccurate comment that all those of us who want slower cars somehow want rid of the faster cars and race cars,

If that is how you took it, then it doesn't apply to you. That comment was directed at people that don't understand race cars and therefore say they don't have a purpose in GT cause "they all look the same" or "i cant buy it".

Again, i hope one day GT allows for an upload system that would allow everyone to drive the car they want whether it is street/track. But now, i sit playing GT5 Prologue and have only the F2007 to run around. I don't consider the Blitz skyline as a proper race car. So you can see why i bring up this concern. As of today in Ps3 world, GT does NOT have enough race cars.

To give you a better understanding of how i think. I want to see the Fiat Abarth 1000, Original Mini, and other small cars like that in GT5. But i want a race version as well.

I'll say this pure & simple: GT is not Forza so stop begging for GT to become another damn "racing game". I honestly think some of you people haven't even bothered trying to race these cars. So what if they don't top 200? Thats the only reason people seem to find Grid or Forza to be better is just because their are more supercars/race cars for them to brag that they have in the virtual garage(and oddly enough can't afford in real life either). So no, I don't prefer it be "The Real Racing Simulatator". The last time I checked my GT5P box, it says "The Real Driving Simulator". I say since GT doesn't satisfy your fantasy to race only cars most of you don't have near the income to afford, take it elsewhere. You want "The Real Racing Simulator", Just stick to something else, the rest of us are just fine having the time of our lives with "The Real Drivng Simulator" so stop trying to have what we enjoy taken away just to selfeshly satisfy yourselfs. Thats my 2 cents, take it or leave it.

Just to clarify - I don't mean take out production cars, that's ludicrous. I mean take out cars such as the Vitz and Demio, and replace them with cars that (I think) are far more deserving.

I know everyone argues about what cars should be in, everyone has their favorite cars and all the rest of it, but all you need is to spend 5 minutes on racingsportscars.com to find 10 cars I'd bet good money you would rather have in GT5 than boring, uninspiring cars that were intended to get people that don't make a lot of money down the street to work.

So your idea of "Deserving" is something thats just so crazy fast? Very shallow thinking. I have spent more then 5 five minutes on that same site you mention and while I'm a huge race fan, I still don't see how they are far more deserving just because they have higher then 90 hp. So what? And looking at your comment about "boring, uninspiring cars that were intended to get people that don't make a lot of money down the street to work.", appears like its aimed at blasting cars that people with middle class wage(such as my family) could afford. Not everyone can buy(or wants to) buy a 700HP beast so its very narrow minded to say such things. Also, you ever been to a drag racing event? I've seen just about every damn land based vehicle(including those "boring, uninspiring cars") raced. Hell, they even had a VW van. Those people wouldn't agree with you.

A viewpoint I've not seen expressed in this thread.

Have you ever played Forza? It's not all about racecars. It doesn't have as many cars as a GT game does but it does have a fair amount of normal cars all things considered.

*applauds* FINALLY someone gets the point I was trying to make a LONG time ago!

also, would you people please drop the "Forza is better than GT" BS. i'm sick of the "system wars" crap that's still going on. i have favorites on all systems, which is why I still purchase oddballs and used systems. each version makes me wanna try other system's goodies as well. get over yourselves. it's all JUST GAMES!

I've played some of the previous GT games this morning, and I must say that I've realised that the slow cars really is a big and important part of the GT series. It's what makes it Gran Turismo.

But of course I'd still love if they include as many race cars as possible, and I'm pretty sure they will.

And as I've said a million times. Would be awesome if they take back racing modifications.

I'm not saying Forza is better.

I don't think he said you did, he was reffering to those that make these idiotic comments on how "Forza pwns GT" or something to that nature. As for me, I've tried Forza and its decent game. I'm not saying Forza is just about race cars, but that the amount of racecars and supercars in it appears to be the only reason people like it over GT.
@Sniffs: Couldn't agree with you more:tup:

I like Forza, I think it's superior to GT in some ways yet I hate racing race cars. I enjoy being able to turn a stock Civic hatch back into a race car if I wish though. As for the idiotic comments, the same can be said about people who say "GT pwns Forza", both games have their strong points and both games have their weak points. Neither "pwns" one another.

That is true. Fanboys always have some excuse as how something "pwns", even while lacking any reasonable explanation other then repeating the same thing most others said.

And being level headed like this is why people like you and me are emble to enjoy the best of both worlds rather than deny ourselves something that is good out of sheer fanboyism.

I felt I understood you in the first place but this calification of your view is more than welcome regarldess. I would agree with Joey in that I tend to prefer being given the ability to turn a road car into a race car myself than to just outright get a ready made race car with pre-set parts and liveries etc. That's not to say i don't like race cars, ofcourse there are races that you can't create from a road car (GT500 GT-R, Supra, NSX etc, DTM cars then there's single seaters and race cars that arn't even based on any particular road car) so I'm more than happy to have thoes in the game. In fact I'm more than hapy to have as much of everything as I can in the game, but as an option as well as buying that rally version of the Mini, I'd love to be able to buy a road version and turn it into a virtual creation of what I would like that race car to be as well. It's all aboiut the choices and the more choices GT5 gives us to go about progressing through and enjoying the game the better.

I shall say only one thing. GT is perfect the way it is, just add more tracks and add more cars and more gameplay elements or what ever needs to be done, but don't change the theme and core purpose of the game.

No, i want roadcars as well as racecars. I however wish GT5 did not include 1000 cars, half of which will probably be useless and no one will drive, and PD to use the time saved elsewhere, LIKE THE DAMAGE MODEL:P

Spend some time digging into threads in the GT4 forums and you will find that many of us will drive them.

Yeah, but only because they are there, most people want to drive the exotics, not some boring daewoo or some crap like that.

Your opinion really, no need to speak for the rest of us, we can judge that ourselfs, personally i love each and every car and will drive them all thru the years to come. :scared:

Wow. It's been a LONG time since I've heard of Daewoo. Anyone have a feeling we'll see Daewoo, Dacia & Lada long before we see Porsche in GT? Man, that would be a sad day, LOL.

The thing is though, i bet most people would rather have the same amount of cars as Forza 3, and PD to focus there attention elsewhere. Car count isn't the main attraction for me, i mean look at GT3

Well i used to own Forza 1 on xbx, and it was actually a decent game, it could compete with gran turismo 3, maybe 4's arcade mode but i find it lacked that Career type feeling, i just felt like i was racking up cash to buy the next machine, but the cars were nice.

However GT IMO is based on taking your everyday car and turning into a winning machine, you don't even get close to Race cars for a few days\weeks.

Yeah, but only because they are there, most people want to drive the exotics, not some boring daewoo or some crap like that.

When I pick up GT4 I drive either a car I've not driven much before or one of my low-powered favourites. Because I want to.

There's much more fun to be had from something perceived as crap because it's low powered, ugly and FWD than many of the high-end exotics - and many of my least favourite cars are high-powered, high-value things (Spyker C8 being one of my absolute least favourite). I've driven the FIAT 500R more times than the Minolta 88C-V, by choice and in my pursuit of completing the game the fastest non-F1 I drove is ranked, by my Arcade Mode B-Spec Bob test at Trial Mountain, 17th.

I've driven everything because it's there. I've driven it again because I want to.

Then they should play something like Supercar Challenge, not the game made by the guy that has publicly said he wants it to resemble an encyclopedia of cars. They know what they are getting, and then complain about it.

Kaz's dream is a bit far out imo. There is no way he is ever going to model the millions of cars that have being in existence, his Encyclopedia is pointless, it would be barely only scraping the surface of the automotive world.

For me GT is mostly about the cars so the more the better, everything else they can manage to squezee out is a bonus for me. :)

@dancardesigner
Pointless to you maybe but i love that he strives to get every car in existance into a game, he might not live to achive it but nontheless he tried his hardest and that get´s my respect.

I would rather see some mustangs and camaros from the late 80's than some daihatsu. It's just my opinion because in my case I never drive those cars (Daihatsu, suzuki...) unless I need to drive them for a specific race or license. Positive things is that they add variety.

Same, i would much rather have camaros, birds, and other muscle cars than cars like this

If you don't like Kaz's vision don't buy into it.

Here is how I see this car list debate: Those of us who enjoy GT's huge list of cars at least partially love GT because it has them. We love it for what it is.

People that complain it is too big and mostly boring are requesting a franchise change part of what it is known for.

Sure, ten years ago it made sense to feel like your wants were ignored by Kaz just chasing his own dream (even if that was the case, there is nothing wrong with that), but today there are plenty of competitors getting into the simulation racing games, and thus you can chose them if it is that big of a deal.

I enjoy the slower low end cars. Sometimes they pose a challenge over the super cars. There is nothing like topping off at 80mph while heading in the corner.
