I’d consider joining the club but you guys are so fast. I’m seriously only playing the career mode at ‘75’ and but fairly well. Could maybe increase it to 85-90.
Nacho and Lucas don't have the game so this time there will only be @Drex124 wiping the floor with us. Please do join us, even though most of us won't be gunning for wins there is always a couple others closely matched to compete against and have fun!

I really wanted to pick this up but the Peugeot 205's are so badly modelled that I simply give it a green light. The geometry of the car is incorrect, the wheels are incorrect, the sound is incorrect. Just terrible and it saddens me.....

Some of the classics are good, others not so much. I ran the Fiat and the Escort on back to back stages, and I could swear they share the same sound sample.

I do like both Audi, Delta, 037 and Alpine. The Celica, Stratos seem decent. Fulvia is ok, not great. Haven’t tried the rest yet.

Is this the last WRC game for K? I thought I heard CMasters will take the contract.
KT will release WRC 11 this year. In 2023 CM gets the license but it is unclear if their first game will be in 2023 or 2024.

Progressed far enough in career to unlock private team management. So far it seems good, though you’re doing the same objectives for sponsors rather than a specific team.

Also, private team management gives a chance to use the livery editor, though within career mode the game doesn’t recognize the controller and wheel simultaneously ultimately reducing it to a color selector.

Meanwhile on the 50th Anniversary challenges, after getting through the first two easily (1st or 2nd try) the ‘Fog at Arganil’ is proving to be nearly impossible, after more than a dozen attempts I’m only down to 15 seconds off the pace.

Incidentally, when searching the leaderboards for this stage with this class car, there are only 80-90 players that are quicker than the 7’13” time to beat.

Pretty disappointing that after many years and now many months after launch of 10, they still don't bother fix balance issues of ai difficulty.

Edit: and visibility issues.
They're probably done by now with further updates i guess too.

Waiting here to jump to 10, skipping 9.

Agreed, I’ve learned to lower the difficulty adjustment sliders in career and season modes, but unfortunately there’s no way to adjust the 50th Anniversary difficulty.

And thus an entire aspect of the game is sealed off unless I can muster a miracle run.

The last PC patch lowered the 50th Anniversary times again, not sure if this patch has hit console yet.

Been having issues connecting to the WRC10 server since last night. PS4 user. Anyone else?

They're having server issues across all platforms. The prediction right now is that it won't be fixed until Monday (or so it said on a Discord not sure how accurate that timeframe is).

Just wondering, with noticing the base version on ps4 and the deluxe saying ps4 ps5 included..

Is there a difference between the ps4 version playing in backward compatible mode on ps5, and the full ps5 version? It would affect the choice of which to get if there is an important difference, the deluxe being of course more expensive by quite a bit.

If its just crazy high res on ps5 version, i don't care much and wouldn't pay the extra, as long as the bc version plays smoothly, crisp on ps5.

Besides better graphics, the PS5 version has dedicated Balanced (60fps @ maybe 1440p) and 120Hz (1080p) modes.

I read many say 10 is more floaty than 9 on gravel, snow.
I wonder if in a good way, like more mass, inertia, and slides more realistically.

Or just floaty arcadey, lack of feel.
Someone said its because the tire model was made for tarmac, and doesn't take in consideration any depth of the surface on gravel, snow etc, like dr2 does seemingly more.

I don't know about floaty - it's more "weighty" than previous titles if you ask me. There's a much more tangible sense of the front-back weight transfer particularly on the brakes, and obviously that informs the tendency of the car thru the corners, leading to more of a "push" feel thru the gravel than previous titles. You notice the difference in this weight on different surfaces, it's quite extreme on the thickest mud and wet gravel, and more "skittery" on the loose stone surfaces like Greece.

Personally I find more distinction between the loose surfaces than with dirt rally 2.0 - but cars certainly have a heavier feel than either that game or prior WRC titles. Like anything going for even vaguely realistic physics, it has its own knack and foibles to get your head around, but ends up with a quite natural feeling imo.

Yes you're right, nothing perfect of course, each has pros and cons i guess.

Good to know about the feel on different loose surfaces, thanks.

There is a feel of digging in and grabbing grip in dr2 though in deeper, loose surfaces, which is pretty cool, and lacked in dr1.

That doesn't seem present much in wrc8 at least.
I don't know if 9 or 10 improved this.

Maybe the lack of feel in 10 vs 9 for some, is a wheel dependant ffb set-up variation, or compatibility issue.

Just wonder if I'd miss something better in 9 if i skip from 8 to 10.

Definitely not floaty, as said above, there’s a lot more weight to the cars, one thing it always lacked in previous games was the feeling of pushing the car in a way that felt satisfying like in dirt rally 2.0 (which is my personal benchmark for that feeling). It’s a very satisfying game to play in terms of the cars movement and feel. It’s definitely better than 9 here which is what I would describe as lacking in any feel.

I went back a few pages and read KT had already lowered the difficulty months ago. Ugh. Who set these times anyway?

I finally passed the Fiat at Arganil. Took me probably 3 dozen tries. Then right afterward I beat the Escort at Finland on the first try. Go figure.

What’s interesting is after completing the third event they don’t proceed chronologically. I was looking forward to the Audi at Sanremo, but no.

Unfortunatly is typical of the dev, great physics and stage design, inconsistent AI, UI, UX and single player structure

I've actually written a sort of open letter regarding the issues with the series. If anyone has anything they want me to add I'm gonna send it to the devs/post to the reddit etc...

The more time I spend with WRC 10, the more it frustrates me. The general theme of this frustration comes from the fact that a truly great game has been teased, but ultimately not delivered across the board. The basic elements are all there; brilliant driving physics, fantastic stage design, great car selection and now a proper season/career mode that implements full-length rallies and tyre management. However, it falls down hard in several ways.
First of all, multiplayer. How has this side of things been so overlooked and underdeveloped?? Granted, I’m not a programmer and have little understanding of how these things work on a practical level, but we are not asking for much, and in 2022 solid online features should be a given for a AAA title with FIA licencing. Rally games should be the easiest titles to implement cross-platform play in. It’s not even true cross-play; cars are never on track at the same time, so surely it’s just a case of fetching times from each platform’s servers and compiling them?
Online play itself is another big miss. The most frustrating thing about this, again, is that it has been teased, but not executed. There is a clubs feature, which was a welcome addition, especially now it includes a ‘realistic’ mode. However, realistic mode only includes the official WRC cars, has no tyre management, doesn’t match the length of rallies in season mode, and there is no way to structure a season. Instead, events are just created as one-offs and while points are accumulated, as there is no actual season there is no end to this. Clubs just go on until people lose interest. There needs to be an end goal. The current offline season and career modes are great, solid additions to an already in-depth career mode. Why can’t we have this online?? I am 99% sure that this was part of the roadmap as “online championships”, but then the developers backtracked and claimed that this was simply another term for the official e-sports mode, which was such a cheap cop-out. I don’t often publicly complain or criticise developers, but I feel that this was quite insulting, especially to loyal players. I had actually been waiting intently for the “online championships” since the game and roadmap were announced, as I had plans to curate an official championship in conjunction with real-world UK motorsport clubs. However, the lack of cross-platform online play, lack of season structure in clubs and poor car class structure has led me to abandon this initiative.

Other issues that I’m sure have relatively simple solutions are the lack of a mode where you can select a single full rally in single-player, no option to create custom seasons, and no option to use Legend and Bonus cars in season, career or realistic club mode. The class system is flawed and inconsistent across different game modes, and there are constant server, AI and leaderboard issues.

I feel like the developers are greatly underestimating the effect of these flaws in the series. And I would like to say again, the base-level stuff is fantastic! The actual driving and stages are, in my opinion, the best in the business. The hardest part is done! But if they nail the online and competitive side of things, these games would endure for much longer than their yearly development cycle and really take the fight to the Dirt Rally series. Nacon and KT, please don’t stop making rally games after WRC 11. I actually feel like there is more potential for great games outside of the WRC licence. Please take these points on board, there’s a lot of us out here crying out for the finished product!

I don't have 10 yet as not quite finished with 9.

So if I'm reading right you still can't create a custom session using any of the bonus/non current cars... That annoyed me from 7 onwards. I really wanted to play a entire season driving a 2016 car against the 2017 cars, I thought it would be fun trying to compete in inferior machinery, but no. So is 10 the same as 9 in that you have all these bonus cars but outside of single stages you can't use them ? If so that sucks. I love the WRC games but the little things do put a damper on things at times. Another thing I've mentioned to them, (no response), is fix the headlights, the light source seems to come from under the front of the cars and not from the headlights, ruining the replays, (slightly picky I know), as it's not realistic.

Edit: I hope they keep making Rally games too. I know most people didn't get on with it but I quite liked V Rally 4.

I wonder whether the issue with bonus cars in the WRC games could be a licensing issue? Don't forget this is an official game - it could be that they're not permitted to do certain things with non current WRC vehicles? It would make sense. A bit like how non current F1 cars cannot be used in certain ways in the official F1 games.

Yep, can only use the bonus cars for hot staging and the 50th Anniversary mode. It’s a bummer we can’t create our own custom seasons/career with them.

I somewhat solved the headlight issue by ditching the cockpit/dash view(s) once and for all. They were inconsistent from one car to the next anyway. Now it’s bumper or nothing for me. FOV as wide as possible, height maxed, angle pointed downwards. It’s like a brand new game and so much better. And no more fussing with windshield wipers every 30 seconds.

Latest update on my progress with the 50th Anniversary mode:

Finally passed the Fiat and breezed through the Escort at Finland (see my earlier post) but wouldn’t you know, another impossible Portugal event. Oh come on now.. 🤦🏻‍♂️ 😆

Downloaded the latest patch for PS consoles, and no change to the 50th Anniversary times that I can find so far, definitely nothing changed for Portugal. Still next to impossible.

Unsure how I beat the Fiat. The Ogier time of 6’38” will take me weeks.

Ridiculous

I just switched from Logitech G923 to Fanatec GT DD Pro on PS5. However, the game still has me using "Logitech Racing Wheel". There is no way to change it. And the FFB is terrible. Has anyone else had this issue in WRC 10 after switching wheel brands? It's like the game has permanently binded me to Logitech and I don't know how to get myself "unstuck". Pretty ridiculous in a game that has the Fanatec logo plastered all over the place. I guess wiping my save file could be a last resort. I have tried both modes: PS4/PS5 native as well as PlayStation compatibility.

EDIT: I had to erase my save game file. Reinstalling didn't work.
