Good game on ps5, no issues and working well with t300. Missed wrc9, this looks good but not next gen... but actually there is no next gen game out there. Same story as f121... can't wait they stop supporting ps4 and start a proper next gen development.
2 years I reckon.

For anyone using the chase cam, here are my settings for what I feel gives me the best chase view. The default is awful.

Dynamic FOV and Camera shake - off
Close chase
Height: -0.030
Position: 0.100
Angle: -0.60
FOV: 3.0 (adjust to taste)

2 years I reckon.
I think so. By mid 2023 i believe we will start to have only next gen games.

Anyway even if it doesn't look next gen is surely night and day from my previuous experience (wrc8 on std ps4)

It'll be sooner than that, waaay sooner. It'll start next year. There are already plenty of next gen only games, especially for Xbox.

My initial Look / Mini Review

You say realistic duration mode is ten stages in JWRC and praise it. I have already seen a video where Monte Carlo in WRC3 had fourteen stages. Although I haven't seen a Rally1 event yet in this mode, I assume it would be eighteen stages. This sounds like one of the best features added this year and I find it odd that KT didn't promote it and that we are finding out through videos.

The ability to choose tires for the rally, and mix and match compounds, is indeed a first in rally games, as you state in your video. Another feature that was ignored in the promotional material.

It unlocks for me in a few hours. Looking forward to giving it a spin.

Great first look video as always, @Scaff .

Anyone having issues with missing FFB? I am on PS5 with a G923.

The game will start off without any forces at all, just a limp wheel. At some point in the stage some force will kick in but it seems to be only SAT. Sometimes it will just constantly pull to the left or the right for a while for no reason.

I have zero vibration.

I have tried with the DualSense on and off. I have reset settings. I have tried balanced/high quality/120Hz modes. I have rebooted. Nothing helps.

The button mapping and sliders can be adjusted. The game shows a Logitech wheel as the controller.

Weird.

EDIT: Another reboot with the wheel plugged in and starting the game with the controller off worked.

So now I have also this big framedrop problem. This framedrops are a massive problem in WRC 10, it is far worse then WRC 9.
In the 50th Anniversary Kenya stage I got slowdowns down to 15 fps (I used the game internal fps counter) and it shows that something is going on with CPU.

Normally the fps counter shows something like FPS 60 (capped), FPS CPU 135, FPS GPU 110 but in the slow down cases the FPS CPU counter drops also to the same low value.

This is more likely when a stage is restarted and which each stage restart the frame drops are going worse.

And BTW the cockpit view is really bad and to dark in the Kenya event. Also the gauges from the car (rev and dash) are not really useful they show nothing.

Drop to 27 fps:

Later in the stage the fps normalized:

After a few stage restarts which seems to amplify the frame drop effect the fps go down to 15:
BTW: You see that the hood view is more bright and that every car has autoclutch (sitting there in 4th gear and the motor is running).

Having looked at various reviews, I think I'll wait until a bit further down the line for a sale before picking this up. A bit of a shame as I'll be missing the Impreza(?) content, but I can't justify paying full price in the state it's seemingly in at the moment.

I cancelled my physical Pre-Order after they delayed the US Launch to the 21st. KT's confusing marketing and treatment of US fans is straight up, hot garbage.

Edit: This definitely leaves a bad taste in my mouth in regards to TDUSC.

My quick impressions so far (PC):

Cons
  • The UI is pretty garbage. I remember the clunky controls menu from WRC8, but I don't remember the rest of it being as bad.
  • In more than one menu, settings show the wrong tooltips; they're off by one, with some showing no tooltip. It makes me wonder if some of the settings are even set how I want...is the tooltip wrong, or is the label wrong? How sloppy.
  • Having to finish 50th Anniversary to unlock Private Team is a nuisance.
  • I tried to set the graphics to maximize FPS with a preferred amount of detail, but I'm getting periodic framerate drops between it running totally smooth (GTX 1660Ti).
Neutral
  • The physics seem very much like what I remember of WRC8. Not bad, but it feels weird after spending all year playing no other driving/racing game but the sim I'm building. Steering doesn't seem right and the camera view is so rigid. I spoiled myself.
Pros
  • The stages are the star of the show, of course. The game is more than decent enough overall to make it invaluable for having these places to drive.
  • All the historical cars give this not-a-modern-WRC-fan a lot to enjoy. I made sure I got my token Subaru.
  • I'm glad I moved back from Playstation/Xbox to PC for driving/racing stuff. It's great to be able to turn off all the post-processing I don't want -- motion blur, bloom, anti-aliasing, the vignette, and the nasty sharpen filter I was greeted with when I first booted the game.
  • I have no particular complaints about the FFB. I turned off a couple things, boosted the force strength a bit, and I'm not sure yet what else I'll change. I get the impression that maybe Kylotonn designs the FFB for weaker wheels like my old G25 (had it for about 15 years now!).
  • Following the above point, I had a really good time with WRC8 after getting my racing seat and being able to try my G25, but there were so few cars to care about. The driving experience is very similar here, with more to play with between the car list and the revised career mode with the Private Team feature and livery editor and all...I look forward to it. 🐺

Really scummy practice nowadays of publishers separating small content from the launch game, charging extra. 7$ each for 2 cars that are surely at best averagely done in all aspects and modelled, considering pretty much all is done sloppily in these games, plus 7$ for 1 small stage.

You end up paying 30 to 50% more for small content that should just be in there with a full price.
Some games you end up paying double, triple..
Pretty pitifull how they keep trying syphon more from gamers.
They can kiss my b... ,oups i didnt say that..

And to add to that, it really annoys me that you can't buy a physical deluxe version of these games, digital only, why ?

Plus considering its basically the same game with very little corrected from past years.
Like milestone.., even substracting content and charging for it as dlc in the next.
I see, didn't know you couldn't buy the deluxe physical, i only buy digital, too lazy to go in stores anymore. 😋 I know you can buy online, order delivery though. But then too lazy to change disc 😁.

Man, visibility under any amount of rain is ridiculous, even at a standstill. I have to switch to the hood cam (again).

These frame drops are really annoying. I think it's more a problem with the engine and the CPU leading to this frame drops.

What I discovered in the meantime is that all WRC cars have the same sound that's disappointing as they have made a big twitter post about sounds and how important they are. Same with the WRC 2/3 cars they also share a sound bank.
Hopefully KT will come up with a few updated sound bank files.

I'm still firmly on the "good game" side of the fence, but I had a very annoying issue last night, a corruption in my save meant I lost the last 2 day's progress, just as I was signing my WRC contract, I had to restore an older save and I'm back to Rally Finland in WRC2.

I think the game has some cloud issues as I've noticed it often fails to upload my times to the leaderboards (I won't let that hang an asterisk over my Stratos rally Japan world record, though :P).

I've only noticed dropping frames once on PS5, in the testing area, but it was very severe. I think I've had the odd sound cut too. There is still quite a lot of pop-in, some of which is quite distracting.

Still I'm loving the stages and the driving and I'm booting it up every evening. I have noticed the low visibility but don't find it too grating just to drive those stages in hood view - where it's middling, I'll stay in cockpit, low visibility is part of rallying sometimes.

Ultimately IMO, the positives of this game are where they should be, and the negatives aren't at the point of seriously detracting from the game, at least where my ps5 experience is concerned.

The 205GTI T16 EVO at New Zealand anniversary challenge is definitely poised to break my brain, though, I keep chucking it away with one error.

Try the following in the Nvidia control panel, using Program Settings.

They made quite a difference for me, locking the FPS to 60 (or multiples of) is a big part of getting it smoother, as it keeps the physics and visuals in sync with each other. This lot works for me with WRC 9 and 10, with the same GPU as yourself. Oh and make sure Vsync is on as well (game and Nvidia)

Having fun with this game so far, I especially like the 50th anniversary of WRC mode even just for the historical photos and video clips.

My first impression was that the controls were very sensitive compared to previous games, so I had to fiddle with the settings, but no complaints otherwise.

@Scaff -- I already determined that I really ought to turn Vsync back on because I've previously learned this PC will gladly cook itself with Vsync disabled and no framerate limit (always turning it off is an old habit; my aversion to input latency). After bumping the resolution down to 720p (IDGAF), I found room to switch on some extra detail and have not had any bad framerate drops since those changes (knock on wood).

I will also look into those settings and an FPS lock for the game the next time I'm on. Thanks. 🐺

If I buy the PS4 version of WRC10. Will I then still be able to play it on a PS5 like any other PS4 Games ?

Ps. I have a borrowed PS5 - They were sold out in 2 minutes here in Denmark long long time ago and It's kind a Fony 😁

Only the Deluxe edition includes both PS4 and PS5 versions.

I believe so. But I wouldn't worry, it doesn't play like a next gen game on PS5 anyway. Save your money and stick with the PS4. In fact, it looks and sounds more like a PS3 game...
