I think we can't see the co-driver, we can't see him because him is not him, but HER... ops sorry ;)

While the co-driver traditionally sits lower than the actual driver - it's to help with the center of gravity - they're not seated so low that you cannot see them. So in that sht they're either not there, or the pace notes are being provided by Gary Coleman.

You can see the RECARO word on the seat. Usually the persons head would be there. The rally so far looks really good except that track is a bit too short for my likeing. I wonder what tracks will return and how many more new ones will be in.

Good to hear the cars sounding close to their real versions.

Return? Dont talk about return, not swiss alps!!!!!

Updated Grand Canyon, Tahiti & Chamonix are welcome.

Just hoping the WRC mode is like Nascar with full rules.

I can't imagine it wouldn't be. With NASCAR getting the full treatment, and with WRC and NASCAR getting announced as the next "full" series in the game, it just wouldn't make sense to put so much effort into one, and half-ass the other.

Besides, WRC is much more popular worldwide. NASCAR is only really popular in the US (why.... is another story).

;)

I am actually kind of dissapointed... it seems like they got the WRC license for pretty much nothing as the tracks still have that traditional GT flattish look and so far I haven't seen promise of anything more than what I would feel is the natural progression of GT in the rally world (which I would sum up as cursory).

I was really hopping to see evidence of crazy awesome rally courses with lots of details, twists turns and varying road tyles that looked like the real thing. Hoping for point to point single person races (maybe with staggered opponent starts) and repair management and points for races like in real real rally events.

I am not feeling confident that this is really moving towards WRC so much and just more towards what the casual gamer may think of as pretty rally.

The tracks now revealed do point to that. But I've always preferred to take a few laps around any GT4 rally track 10x more than playing any other Rally Game of the time.

Point being, I guess it's still not all-in-one (damage, physics + tracks and championship) as I expected as well when they announced WRC license. But it will most likely be the best rally driving experience possible. Again.

I dunno, RBR, Collin McRae Rally and even RalliSport Challenge have all provided some really fun Rally action that I felt was better than GT.

Well yea not some of the rallycross style tracks. Pikes Peak would be a nice return as the GT2 version was based off a real section of the track. Except that part appears not to have any trees.

👍

I unfortunately did not :(

Really? It's a matter of taste I suppose, so to each their own, but may I ask what you didn't enjoy those games? It's just that I feel that between those 3 games you cover pretty much all the ground between hardcore rally fan and arcade rally fan.

I want point to point aswell, i thought that was what rallying is about.Plus the super special stages too.I'm hoping for this, this time around.A selection of 50's, 60's, 70's & 80's rally cars would be awesome.Dreaming of Fords, Vauxhalls, Peugeots, Toyotas, Renaults, VWs, Skodas etc.

Please note I'm referring to the physics only. I enjoyed several rally games, and finished them. Bu then that was it. There seemed to be a tendency to push the car the wrong way somehow.

With GT I had the feeling it was almost real, I felt 19 again, sliding my Datsun :) , and I could do Tahiti Maze for hours. Actually I still do! On the PSP.

Interesting... I haven't ever rallied myself so I am no expert by RBR is often attributed as being the best rally sim around physics wise...

It's probably "force of habit" but in GT it just felt natural. And the difference showed mainly on the RWD cars. A controlled power slide felt unbelievably real. If my PS2 hadn't broke I'd probably play it more than GT5P nowadays just for that.

RBR is excellent.

Not only the best for a rally sim. RBR has, arguably, the most realistic physics in a driving sim, full stop.

;)

Stop. You guys are gonna make me get a copy and retry it while I wait for November...

Check out the PC Forum for legal mods!

The night aspect in GT(and RBR;)) adds a great challenge when it comes to rally driving. You automatically feel claustophobic and disoriented, makes me feel like Resident Evil overnight as a kid! In the best way possible.

I doubt I have seen all gt5 videos so I wonder if there have bin any videos of toscana rally track with the car driving through the tiny fence around the track? Or will the rally tracks be closed with invisable fences like gt4 :scared: Pinball rally does not belong in GT5, well I cross my fingers.

Just like i posted on the Nascar thread, i'm also worried about WRC in GT5.

More worried actually.

They haven't showed why they have the license. They had the cars before, the had those stupid unrealistic tracks before, so what have they showed us of WRC?

Modelled drivers and co-drivers, and cars on the podium from the '09 trailer.

That's it.

I'm afraid their interpretation of rallying is the same crazy one they've used since GT2.

I have a feeling i'll be using those great cars on regular tracks, because it's not looking like a good implementation so far.

I know they will show more at Gamescom, but no P2P appereance so far is very sad.

I would like to see Seb Loeb driving the Citroen in GT5 on a rally course.

We have seen a lot of videos of people driving well on the sealed tracks but the rally courses not so well. But it is a new part to the demos.

Lol, give it some time, some people could barely stay on track at Indy in a COT with Standard Physics and Aids, forget about Toscana in a WRC.

EDIT: Bumpage.

Starting to bite my lip about WRC's presence in GT5.

Looking at the Blackbean WRC2010 game, its not looking too good, havent played it but looking at gameplay footage the cars react somewhat like Colin McRae rally :irk: And one of the stages is through the ruins of an Aztec city, not very WRC-like.

Graphically, its schite, considering there's only ONE car to render and its on PS3 XBOX360.

To be fair , its all WIP.

WRC2010 - 12 new screenshots.

they mention "balancing playability" probably multiple physics modes. Arcade\Sim, catering to the casuals. vehicles having 50k poly count, pretty low.

Rally fans always pay the price! If GT dont step its rally game up RBR might STILL hold the crown for another half decade.

Well, I think that Making of Video pretty much has cemented that Milestone needs to stay away from car racing games. Its sad that Dirt 2 will be miles better then a Officially licensed WRC game. Sure it hasn't come out yet but this is blackbean and Milestone, the same people who have forever burned me with Evolution GT:ouch: and have done terrible things with the Superstars V8 license so I don't expect anything good from them. I think I'll stick to GT5, which is miles ahead in Car Models, Driver's facial Expressions and Realistic dust particles all over the place.

I wouldn't fret too much about GT5 using the WRC license. They already have some great things in place so I think best yet to come at gamescom (a home base for WRC fans :) ). I think judging by how detailed they are going so far with one licensed series, They'll blow Milestone out the water with the attention to WRC. You can already see visually they are light years ahead so I think feeling wise it'll also be miles better.

With that I say to Milestone: May the Fail be with you

Beating RBR is a high bar to set... if GT5 can pull that off it will be awesome!

I was torn when the WRC licnese went to GT... could be great but I could see GT kind of glossing over it... I really hope we get true point to point races in rally like locations with good damage/time management and proper points setup.

I'll always have a sweet spot for RBR (and Rallisport Challenge ;P ) but it would be nice to have another top notch rally game to put up there with them...

Do not "bump" a thread with nothing to say. If you have something to add, fine. If not, let it go...

At first i thought adding the new info to my last post (because it was the last one in the thread) would put it forward but it didn't so i had to DP to make it work. :)

If it has been a day or two, go ahead an post your info. We're not going to fault you for that. Typing "bump" and nothing else, however, is a waste of bandwidth.

Ive been tryin to get my hands on WRC4 for a minute then i found its its PAL only. BLEH, so i scowered and read somewhere that the physics although better than CMR were still arcadey when compared to RBR, but the stages are amazing, the level of detail and sense of authenticity.

PD's got the physics down, they just need schooling on what REAL rally is. Evo could be the ones to point them int he right direction as far as stage design.

A 10 minute PTP stage , we need this. 4 location types, one tarmac one snow 2 dirt, 10-15 km each. total 50-60km. Should be enough with the wide variety of rally cars available one could redo all stages in different cars and get a different experience each time.

And the pacenotes! more

DFP WRC4 action.
