Not point to point huh?

The lack of point to point doesn't really bother me, I wasn't expecting GT5 to offer a full WRC experience anyway. What they have shown so far - the cars, the drivers, and even the tracks - are enough for me. Toscana is definitely more, ahem, down to earth than Smokey Mountain or Swiss Alps. Plus there's supposed to be a full fledged WRC sim coming out later this or next year anyway. Just because PD has the license doesn't mean they are going to completely base the game around it. It's just a badge of authenticity, something extra for the fans.

i would expect the same for the official "NASCAR" racing experience as well....16 cars and probably not all the different ovals from the series. We all tend to forget that GT is a driving simulator, not a racing simulator (there is a big difference)

probably not all the different ovals from the series
Oh, no chance of that. To the casual eye, there's not too much difference between the ovals. I can see Polyphony including - at the most - a "square" ring like Indianapolis, a D-ring like Daytona, a "standard" oval like a shorter version of the Test Course, an "asymmetrical" oval like the one at Motegi and a tri-oval like Pocono. While there's no doubt nuances between circuits of the same type depending upon the length and degree of banking, I'm afraid most of it would be lost on the casual gamer, and the space required to include each individal oval from the NASCAR series would likely cut into the space used for other circuits. The game cannot be top-heavy in favour of one particular series, and I should think that if it were, then NASCAR would be the last series that would get that favourable treatment. I understand that it's popular and technical and all that, but NASCAR fans need to understand that their beloved series gets very little exposure outside of America, and there are other series and circuits the game both needs and wants to include.

Man i was kinda let down by seeing the Toscana "Rally" stage as a circuit instead of PTP, its not hard PD, remember Pikes Peak!?

Still, im too much of a rally fan to not take full advantage of what they DO have. Fingers crossed for Audi S1, and Sport Quattro Group B.

While I love that dusk, I can't stand 2.12 miles long rally CIRCUIT, what a shame! Some tuscany pavement road circuit through those beautiful Tuscany alleys suitable for Ferrari and such cars would be much better addition than this.

We are accustomed to some 10-25 km long point to point stages with very rough surface here in Europe, of course with navigator reading the specification. This doesn't look like real rally to me, it's just the same questionable "rally" style like GT4 had. And the track looks very very empty considering there are two cars max.

It's one circuit. It's in no way indicative of the rally mode in the final game. For all we know, half the rally circuits will be point-to-point and the other half wll be actual circuits.

Really happy with the footage so far.. ptp stages are not impossible yet! :)

The cars look FAR better on gravel than ever before.. 👍

Especially that scene looked really promising as far as the physics go.

I personally think that the Toscana track is simply stunning (especially the day/night effects).
For the point to point I can stay without it at the moment (GT6? they need have something to do for that game.. I mean they add Nascar, Damages, Online , Customization (what?:))... what else big improvement is missing? )
If they will have 3/4 rally tracks like that and good rally physics I'll be fine with that. My opinion.

I like the Tuscany circuit. It looks challenging without being painful. I've often found that the difficult curve for rally stages in GT games is too great. In GT4 you have the really simply stages like Swiss Alps and Cathedral Rocks, but then you get the long and arduous ones like Grand Canyon. Likewise, there's a huge step up from Ice Arena to Chamonix. But Tuscany looks like its squarely in the middle, which is good.

I was hoping to see Escudo Pikes Peak on the Tuscany rally track. But the day and night transition is awesome!

THE STIG!!!

What do the tig and the Top Gear Test Track have to do with the WRC licence? If you're using it as some kind of signature, I'd suggest you drop it quickly. Some of us are on 56k and those GIFs not only take forever to load, they also eat through our dowloads.

Check out the "snow/dirt" just above the name "Toscana". What on earth does that mean? Surely there's not gonna be a snow version of that track. That would be nuts. It doesn't look like a place that would snow an awful lot

Snow and dirt. They're grouped together based on discipline.

As I stated in another thread, its perhaps likely the co-driver is not present on circuits but on on point-to-point stages.

I was just coming to join this, and its a very interesting little piece of info, but at the same time we've seen co-pilots in single player races in past demos, arguably to show off the full WRC spec cars , but im-a-hopin' for some by the book.

Notice that all of them are for the most part one course demos (Most of the time at Tokyo for some reason :ill: ). This latest build now no longer shows a co-pilot on the circuit.
