I just sat down for a nice cuppa and a quick read in the local newspaper (The New Forest Post) lol, and came across this promotion:

"Take the GT4 Challenge at the Grid..."

Part of the GT4 Launch Weekend

Fastest lap over the GT4 Challenge Weekend Wins a Silver PS2

26-27-28 March 2005 @ Beaulieu National Motor Museum

http://www.beaulieu.co.uk/

This is the first I've heard of this event and I only live a few miles from there. I went to their Web site and there is not a mention of this event anywhere and I gave up after 15 mins on hold when trying to phone them. It looks like I will have to pop down there and see for myself what is going on, I'll let you know how things go.

Hey Jerry go for it! you and PP if you went there together should have a good battle for that silver PS2 :D You will stand a very good chance of winning it 👍

I tried and failed Kel 👎

The challenge was at El Capitan in one of the arcade Jags :yuck: I managed to find out what the best lap time (2'08.???) was before I had my go, I went off and did some practice runs and was getting easy 2'05's on the DS2 after the organiser said I could use the controls on the wheel if I wanted to. It was only when I sat in the seat we found that the controls weren't set on the wheel and they said I would just have to use the wheel and the foot pedal that wasn't fixed to the floor and therefore was sliding on the floor freely when driving. I got 2'11.??? 👎

Not the best time to experience the wheel for the very first time :ill:

Sounds like a bad time with the wheel. :(

I still haven't had the chance to ever play gt on a wheel, if that was my first I would certainly be pissed. :irked:

As for my beating the game subject matter. lol.

Since I got the game it has been all bronze licenses but I still managed to earn the super license with all bronze. ;)

Well I ran with that and unlocked 54%+ (even got the mclaren f1 yesterday!)

Today I went and tested my license skills again and sure enough, I improved. :D
Now I'm the proud holder of a gold license test on the super license level. :sly:

Still a long way to go but atleast I'm making progress. :)

yeah I just got the Pascalero C60 '03 (the blue one) to run the Sportscar Chamopionship with GT_Fan2005. at about 59.7 % complete right now (hey Kent u were right about me improving from GT3, I GOT ALL GOLDS ON LISCENSE TESTS!!!!!! YAHOO!!!!)

Damn man, that sucks, I'm sorry to hear that it was not a good experience for you :(

Would you consider buying the wheel though? or is it DS2 forever for you?

Dont let that put you off sphinx the wheel is very good, it probably take about a week to get used to it but once your used to it its defiently faster.

Too bad about the competition 👎

Live and learn I suppose. What bugged me the most was the damn pedals moving further away from me at each turn, I ended up half off the seat to enable my feet to reach them lol.

If, and it's a big if, but if I get a runners-up prize I'll donate it to the WRS to use as a prize for a weekly or whatever. I just hope its not a wooden spoon though ;)

I'm still working on the DFP (Wife)

I've been enjoying checking out and buying the cars mostly.
Trying to get all the cars goes w/o saying for me. Most of them in black of course. ;)
Lots of learning at Nurburgring, a couple spot races here and there and licenses missions when I'm bored with racing or buying cars.

Cars owned: 84
Prize cars: 48

i didnt get any golds in any licenses, i not very good at licenses. :guilty:

its blue in the US version or at least it looks like it is. Still pretty fun to drive. It will take me a while to get used to it. I used to the F1 way to much right now.

Hey, it took me a while to learn the liscenses too. It took me about 50 million tries to get them gold but I did.

so the pescarolo is blue in US? sweet, do you have a picture?

this is my green and black one

i havee a question for everyone with the DFP, can you get faster lap times with the DFP what with it being so amazingly amazing?
i ask this as i am getting a DFP in a couple of months.

There is a great GT4 car list hosted on GTP that you can sort by any possible way.
Pescarolo versions '03 and '04 both are included in the game.

You'll find pictures of the '04 version here (just scroll down the page when you reached it.)

I have a DFP and i can lap faster than my DS2 by quite a bit, and i wasnt a too shabby with DS2.

Some combos the DS2 is as fast as the DFP, like tight twisty circuits, but most combos the DFP is better.

The only place im not faster with the DFP than with the DS2 is dirt rallys, you have to turn the wheel so far, its hard to correct in time.

It did take about 3 weeks with the DFP before I was comfortable with it, the same thing happened when I originally switched from DS2 to the original DF.. you just gotta stick it out.

Back again after my vacation, and I got sent down to San Diego straight away as soon as I got back! D'oh! Got back home again last night and some good fortune left me most of today to get back to GT4. Had left off with everything up to S11 gold (still not run a race yet! Am waiting until all 80 golds are completed, and its taking some willpower give in and go for it!) Now have 79 golds and just the S16 graduation test at the Nurburgring to do!
S licence tests sure have taught me the new tracks pretty well, so now its just 170 bends of the 'ring to memorise!

*edit* going to use same trick as for IA-15 and use the demo splits to keep tabs on my lap progress. For anyone that's interested, here's the demo splits for a laptime of 6'59.297, just over 8s below the gold time of 7'07.700.

T1 46.971
T2 1'19.824
T3 1'47.650
T4 2'37.071
T5 3'14.377
T6 3'41.283
T7 4'30.223
T8 5'11.240
T9 5'31.858
T10 6'12.540
T11 6'36.591

Yeah Baby!
Now got all 80 licence golds!
Stats so far....
Days 102
Cars 15 (Prize cars 15)
Aspec points 0
Complete 0%
Licences 80-0-0
Aspec miles 0
Bspec miles 0

I have a complete set of S-licence Gold laps saved if anyone wants them for Ghosts. I can get them into Max Drive format if requested.

Congrats Smallhorses. 👍

Steady on mate! I've been on vacation a while, got back to find there's a Mini series in full swing! Will check it out as soon as I can!

Welcome back Nick.
There's a Mini Cup going on (race #2 deadline is monday night, and you can enter even if you missed race #1). Real things (GT Mode Mini) will start next Monday.
However, it's only the new Mini, since the old one seems to have vanished from our versions of GT4 ( @ KY. No damage, dumb AI and now no Mini)

Woohoo! 80 golds baby.

S-16 took me so long it's embarrassing ~7 hrs. I've done nothing but work on licenses since I got GT4 - it's time to start playing the game.

I still haven't violated my no-ds2 resolution. I have to say that I'm starting to get used to the DFP.

I have a question for you NTSC-J version owners. I am wanting to get a replay device for the WRS. What is the best one to get? I could only seem to find the Action Replay 2 v2 for the Japanese version. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

So much game & no time to play it!
I'm making very slow progress through GT4 so far. After getting all licence golds, I have set about the missions. Some are really easy, some are not so easy, the ones at Le Sarthe and Nurburgring spring easily to mind!

I'm now at:-
Days 139
Cars 19 (Prize cars 19)
A spec points 8250
Complete 5.6%
Licences 80-0-0
A spec miles 0
B spec miles 0
Cash 232,500

Just got mission 34 to crack before I get on with the game for real, and its killing me! :ouch:

hey guys, just thought id let everyone know, the GT4 World Touring Car Championship 2005 is going to be getting underway in 1 week, yes next monday is the start of round 1 qualifying, there are plenty of JGTC GT300 rides left and still a couple of GT500 but GT300 is priorety number one right now.
We have 2 confirmed GT300 and 1 yet to confirm so if anyone is interested let me know the car you want to run from those available on the list and il sort it out.

thanks

See my thread on connecting ps2 to pc!

Just bought a 'mercury' tv card and hooked ps2 up to it, can record replays at will, plus pc monitor is much higher resolution than most tv's so it looks great too!
Also helps that my df wheel clamps to the pc desk at the perfect height, and i can use my full backed, tilting chair for comfort whilst spending hours trying to keep up with the fast boys! lol

This way doesn't matter what version you are using! I hope!

Sorry that I've not been on in a while...I'll probably do the WRS entry test tommorrow and submit times...*been busy with work, friends and playing GT4 :dopey: :D* So far I'm 39.2% done with the game and just playing when I can get a chance. I have a job interview on Monday in Troy, MI but I hope to have at least 40% of the game done by this weekend...
Take it easy and see ya around the bend! :sly:  :D --- Randy Woods Morgan
