nice work CFM, i dont have the patience to play the GT game, i just stick to OLR. :P. a nice fat super save does me fine.

Alot of the races are pretty boring, but I usually try to get around 150 A-Spec or more, so it stays a bit interesting at least. I have to unlock it all myself because I'm just that way.:) All I have left are 4 manufacturer series, 1 race of the 1000miles series, about half of the extreme hall, and all of the enduros left. Should go pretty fast aside from the enduros and formula championship.

Can anyone offer any advice or pointers for rallying? I can kind of understand the basic principles of sliding through a turn, but I sturggle sometimes to carry speed and I know I'm not getting my technique right.

Any useful tips or recommendations?

I sure couldn't give you any, but Mr. P definately can. He's a menace in the dirt.

Shoot him a PM, I'm sure he could guide you in the right direction. ;)

Menace?!!!!
He's like some strange genetic hybrid of all the top rally drivers from the past 30 years!
If its possible for Blomqvist, Sainz, McCrae, Makkinen, Eklund, Auriol etc, etc to have interbred, Mr P IS that offspring!

Actually, yeah ... if he responds with anything useful I definitively will ... infact, I may just get him to post a response in this thread or something :)

Hardest part for me, when learning this in GT3, was when to apply the gas in a corner, and know when to start the counter-steer so the "drift" actually worked with the corner and by the end, was lined up for the exit. Just remember most Rally cars are built 4WD, knowing that, and drifting (notice I didn't say driving :P) it as a 4WD, is also 1/2 the battle. (Guess more the drift in, fast out consept :dopey: )

But think ya knew that Koly .. hehe. I will see if Mr. P posts anything for ya, as I am not the best writer when trying to put in words what I do on the track to words.

I will add that I call the move through the corner a "drift" rather a "slide" incase anyone wants to say that it isn't a drift. :sly:

Thanks Mr. P... I'm going to download the videos and see if I can learn something from them.

EDIT: Wow ... okay, what gets me about those videos is that you're literally going sideways ... not just a drift, but it almost seems like you're positioning the car to align with the exit of the curve even as you enter into it ... I'm, perhaps, only turning half of that amount.

Question: If you're turning sideon and sliding through a turn until you face the exit, why feather the throttle? How does that even come into it? And is there any application of the brakes entering a turn?

When exitiing corners, if you give too much throttle, the tires lose traction and you'll swing too wide, oversteer, or run off of your intended line. Hence the feathering of the throttle. Part of rally technique is learning to steer with the throttle by using it to adjust the angle and position of the car.

Well...

My efforts to finish up the game are slowly getting back into a rythme.
I'm finding time for races and not just time trial lapping. :D

The rally (which was brought up just before this post) was some of the hardest stuff for me.
Doing the hard rally races was horrible on tracks like the ice arena.
On the other hand, I'm getting better at the game and even finding time to do the enduros.

As I type my b-spec is winning the 3rd race in the f1 series.
Once I have the f1 series out of the way there will only be 3 areas of the game to address...
Enduros, Mission Hall, One-Make Races

I'm not really looking forward to any of them but atleast I have finally completed everything else. :D

Oh, and one last thing...
I took all of my garage and sold anything that wasn't a street car!
In fact, I only have like 3 race cars at the moment.
However, the money I got from the sales of everything made it possible for me to buy more and more of the cars I didn't have already (those cars were sold and that money was used to buy cars again!).

It's really filling up my arcade mode with cars I was looking forward to getting.
There are only a few cars I don't have in arcade mode right now. :D

Hopefully I will be able to start getting in-depth with the game once I've finished doing GT mode races.

Until next time I feel like I've made some real progress...
Later. :sly:

Hey Evryone, Just joined WRS,looking forward to some great racing, some of you are VERY FAST!! Nice work!

Me, I just finished THE LONGEST RACE OF MY LIFE! LOL

Just finished the 24hr endurance race (Nurburgring),and PHEW!!!
That was Looong! I needed to get the F1 car, because I have everyone of the Beginner, pro races finished, except the Final Championship in the Pro hall.

I Couldnt seem to get any better than 2nd place overall, after trying 4 times!!

The F1 car was about the only shot I have.I used the Nissan (black) race car,but I won about5 of the 10,and couldnt get anywhere.

Thats where Im at now...going to the Championship.
Then I will have all the races unlocked.

Good luck everyone for week#9....see you on the track!
Rally,eh?....should be fun !! :yuck: <---(choking on dirt)
Gotta love the dirt!!

Hey Rob,

Good luck on with that championship. I tried it in the black Nissan R390, too. I'm pretty sure I could've won in, but I had to abandon halfway through because I just don't know the tracks well enough to be driving that fast :P I think I ended up 30+ seconts behind in the Hong Kong race because I needed to stop and ask directions all the time

Thanks, and I am happy to report...I finished it.I won all 10 races this time.I just wish I didnt have to resort to getting the F1 car to do that, but I just wanted to unlock the extreme race hall.

I will probably go back and run it again, this time I will probably buy the Nissan new.

OK, checking back in here and I've made some real progress since the last go round.

First off,
I won the f1 series, but didn't finish all of the races.
However, I have put down a lengthy post or two in an effort to help others who might be interested in ways to work on the f1 series.
One f1 post in particular can be found in the gt4 forum or right here.

So, I still have a few f1 races to finish, 6 to be exact. :(

However, I also made progress in another area... enduros.
I managed to take out the Grand valley, New York, and Laguna Seca enduros in one day thanks to two of my work horses.
The black 787b took out the laguna and GV races.
The Saleen S7 handled the New York race with ease.

Now I'm headed on towards some of the final parts of the game.

First will be completing those 6 f1 races.
Then the 5 remaining enduros.
Then the driving missions. :yuck:

Hopefully they will all go smoothly, but to be honest, now that I'm running some WRS races again it might be hard to devote time to racing the AI.

Oh well...
Until next time,
-Kent

Just wanted to see if anyone else knew about this...
I found that there are Cars that have a "Super Gold"..Special Color. I am pretty sure everyone knows about the "Secret Black" Race cars that appear on day 794 in GT4,but this is different..
What I did,and Im using the car I did this with in particular,I bought an Aston Martin DB9 Coupe,I bought it new from the Aston Martin showroom.I then went and run the Aston Martin Carnival-in the One-Make races (that was the reason I bought the DB9 in the first place, trying to knock out some of the one-make races),I won the Aston Martin DB9 Coupe as a prize car for winning the Race. The only thing is...It gave it to me in "Super Gold,Special Color".

Now, did anyone else discover this? I havent tried it yet,but I am thinking that maybe,if you know ahead of time what car you are going to win for a particular one-make race, and you buy that car to use in it,then possibly you would win that "Special Color",since you already have one of that particular car? Not sure, but I am going to try it out,and Ill let everyone know what I find. I didnt see this posted anywhere else, so Im assuming that not many know about this.

I will let everyone know when I find out!
In the mean time,if anybody else has encountered this, let me know here, and help shed some light on this?
TIA

I think thats just a special color for that car. You can only win it in the one-make race. I'm not sure if there are other gold cars but this is the only once I've seen so far.

There are many cars that come in a special color in the One Make series, I noticed several since I just finished that last of the One Make series tonight.:) For example, in the Triumph Spitfire cup you get a special color which comes with a white hardtop instead of a body color matched one. I'm over 85% now, getting closer to that 100%.:sly:

Thanks for the info, now my only question is,were you using the same car that you won for the prize car to get that special color?
I didnt know if that was the only way to get the special color or not.

I'm over 85% now, getting closer to that 100%.:sly:
Nice work CFM! Ive got a while to reach that point!:dopey:

Some one make races dont allow you to use the car youre going to win to win the race. As they arent available beforehand.... So how will that work?

Thats what I was wondering about, since I won the Gold car with that particular race,I just wanted to know if there were "special colors" in some of the one-makes that you cant use the same models as the prize car.

It seems to me,since CFM has finished the one-makes, that you do win special colors from some of the other one-make races, just not "Super Gold".

"Super Gold" is just the actual name of the color, just like if it were called "Aztec Gold" or something else. If you view the car in your garage and it says "(Special Color)" then the only way to get that particular color is by winning it as a prize car in one of the series. And it doens't matter which car you use as far as I know, as long as you get the races done you'll get the prize car. What I don't know for sure is if you get the same special color each time, or if there may be more that one for some models?

Thats what I figured.Thanks!
I am going to try to win a few of the one-makes different ways to test this out, just to see if there are different "special" colors or not.

I finally completed that stubborn MH18. I couldn't keep a clean lap. To think I'd have no problem since we recently did the S-15 license. The car handles so different. Anyway, I did that all the way to MH24. Won the 'Tank Car' and the Zonda Racecar. Very nice indeed.

I also just recently put down some new progress.

Over 75% complete now. 👍

I'm about to run the 5 F1 races I have left and then all there will are one makes and enduros. :indiff:

The enduros might be hard because I don't really know how to approach the 24hrs of sarthe.
That might be too much for my b-spec to win. :scared:
I will also have to tackle the 1000km races and I don't know how long they take for b-spec wins.

If any of you have tactics for 24hrs of sarthe please post it up. 👍

Also, if you know how long it took you to complete the 1000k races (either or both), please post something up. :D

On a good note...
Today gave me the time to complete several one make races that I hadn't done, as well as a series or two.
One of the championships I did was the honda type R meeting. 👍
Had some real fun with it.
Came out to about 30 a-spec points per race even though I was using a NSX.

Tuned the car perfectly and it turned out to be one hell of a car.
I used the stage one flywheel and clutch to get way more performance out of the normal engine.
With less than 290hp it ran like a 300hp.
Seems like nothing but once you get out there in a stage 1 light weight with down force and 300hp...

So yeah, that was fun and helped me get a little closer to that 100% completion goal.

That's also not even mentioning that I got great motegi practice as well as a new super car- the HSC concept. :sly:
I enjoyed driving that thing after I won it. :mischievous:
Came out to have a great arcade car too.

Anyway, I'm off to start the F1 journey,
Until next time,
-

If you have the F1 already, I'm sure you can easily win the Sarthe 24 hr. with that, no matter how incompetent he is ;).

Kent, the Fuji 1000km took B-Spec Bob just over five hours real time to complete with the Minolta. I don't know about Suzuki, though, I haven't run that one (duh, I am I telling you this? It's in my sig!) Anyway, that is run with tuner cars, and it's on a slower course, so I'm guessing it will be in the 7 to 7 1/2 hour range.

Edit: Motegi might be the one with tuner cars, I can't seem to remember.

Is the formula fast enough to b-spec all the way through the race and still win?

I was worried that it wouldn't have the power to compete with big dogs like the sauber C9.

If the F1 can get the job done then I will probably start that tonight or something.
Not exactly sure if I will or not though...
I need to buy a new F1 off of a different memory card, my current is probably going to be worn down pretty bad and I don't think you can buy any sort of refresher for those things.

Btw, B spec has 6 seconds on the boys at motegi right now in the FGT championship... and Im switching back to A spec for a stint right now. :D

Later.

Another bonus of using the Formula for this grinding endurance is that Formulas do not wear out. Other cars necessitate the need for the refresher. Formulas do not wear out, ever 👍
