Sorry that I've not been on in a while...I'll probably do the WRS entry test tommorrow and submit times...*been busy with work, friends and playing GT4 :dopey: :D* So far I'm 39.2% done with the game and just playing when I can get a chance. I have a job interview on Monday in Troy, MI but I hope to have at least 40% of the game done by this weekend...
Take it easy and see ya around the bend! :sly:  :D --- Randy Woods Morgan

Hey, you live in Angola. I live in South Bend...if you ever fancy a LAN get together GT4 style, maybe we could try it out.:) I really want to do some live racing, as I have never been able to find anyone halfway decent at GT. Everyone I've raced against can't even stay on the track.:yuck: Just PM if you're interested.👍

I finally passed 50% last week and got the Jaguar XJR-9 unlocked. My favorite race car of all time.:) Haven't even had time to drive it yet though.

Good luck with Mission 34 Smallhorses. It's a real ballbreaker for the US version. They made it about 8 seconds easier for PAL if I remember correctly. Took me many sessions to crack that one, I hate the way that car handles on crap tires.

The final driving mission was the hardest thing I've had to do in any of the GT games I've played... but I got it. :)

Agreed, that one was a bugger, at least on NTSC. PAL was changed to make it 8 seconds easier, I think PD realized they made it a bit too hard for most non-hardcore gamers.

8 seconds ? So big difference ? Hmm so I will have to do that mission with at least 9sec ahead of 300SL ;-)

8 seconds would have made a WORLD of difference. I was cutting grass and hitting walls to beat the lead guy by 0.2 seconds. I must have finished that race dozens of times under 8 seconds behind the leader.

Anyway it was kinda fun, but nobody would drive that course as hard as I did in reality - they would have died trying. Getting the SLR airborn at 200 mph isn't exactly something people would do - especially not on that course.

Edit: CFM, was your run on that mission clean by WRS standards?

It was until the very last left turn, I braked a bit too late and went 4 wheels into the grass.:indiff: If I wouldn't have messed up I probably would have won by a larger margin. I had many many runs les than 1 second behind the leader, all clean. With some more work I could do it clean for sure, I was getting aggrivated at the time, though.

I think the only thing I did that actually bought me time was riding the wall on the sharp turn where you have to pass the first guy.

Did you pass before or after that turn? Probably before I'm guessing. I couldn't manage to get to him before the turn so the only other way through without sitting behind him is to ride the wall around him. That probably bought me a second or so overall.

I came up right behind him entering the Karoussel and timed my acceleration to pass him right after exiting. I could never get to him before then. The biggest problem with the NTSC test, is probably that the passing of the 4th place car has to be done in one of the worst spots on the track to pass. You can't touch them without earning a penalty, and you can't linger behind to set up a pass or you'll lose. If the passing zone for that car were in a better area, it would be quite a bit simpler IMO. The next time I have my Max Drive going, I can post a replay of my run if it would help anyone.

Thanks, CFM. I for one would love a maxdrive replay to see how its done.
I have seen 1'06.9 clean split through Kesselchen and still lose time in the last sections so I can't beat the damned thing. I've also flown through dirty a few times out of sheer frustration and seen mid 1'05s, but still can't close up enough at the end. I sooooo want to do this cleanly and its the only thing keeping me from actually starting the races. (Don't ask, its just a personal goal that I'm determined to stick to!)

I'd also be interested in seeing that CFM. I figured I was too slow if I didn't pass the guy before the turn, but I couldn't manage to do that. You must have had a slightly run than me after that turn - which is believable since that's the part of the track I practice the least.

It's good to know that there is a way around having to ride the wall in that turn.

Hi guys,

I need some tips on driving mission 23... the second last slipstream one with the Skyline. The closest ive gotten to first is 1 second away from the first place car.

Im starting to get bored of going round in circles so any tips would be great.

👍

ok go here and download the m23 vid, thats the best i can do. Its been explained about 700 million times elsewhere, so if you still need help just search.

Thanx small fryz... just as i had typed in i needed help i found the thread....

All done and good now 👍

So I finally managed it!
I have to admit that frustration eventually got the better of me and I took to the grass a few times but Mission 34 is now complete!

141 Days
80 Gold Licences
34 Missions complete
20 Cars (20 Prize cars)
8500 A Spec points.

Now I can finally go and do some racing! Woohoo! :D
Where to begin?

Nice job Smallhorses.👍 I tried to find that replay of Mission 34 for you guys, but I must have erased it to make room on my memory card.:indiff: If I run it again anytime soon, i'll post it for Danoff if he still needs it.

Tonight I started running the 24HR Nurb race in A-Spec, using the BMW 320i Touring car (340 HP or so), for a 200 point A spec challenge. I only want to do it once, so I might as well go for the whole 200 points while I'm at it. I'm up against some faster cars like the Audi Touring car and the faster BMW Touring Car and I have to pit more often, but I'm making up ground when the AI cars have worn tires, they can't drive too well when their tires go away.:dopey:

Right now, I'm 1 1/2 hours into the race and have a 45 sec lead coming out of my 3rd pit stop. I'm going to run the race over the next few days, I hope the power doesn't blink out.:scared: Wish me luck.:sly:

Good luck Todd!!, you crazy guy, im sure with your über ring skills you should take the win nicely :sly:

Thanks Dion. I'm gonna go take a nap, then go see Star Wars in about 5 hours. Then later tonight two Softball games, then a bit of Nurb later yet. Sounds like a fun day ahead for me!:) It's my 30th birthday today also, maybe the wife will give me a bit of an extra present in there somewhere too.:mischievous:

👍 Nice going CFM. I'm hoping to do something challenging like this myself, once I can get the endurance hall open! Currently I'm at 12.9% complete having just done the 1st race in the 1000 miles! championship in the Alfa Spider Duetto, using a combination of N1 and N3 tyres. :ill: I'm also A-speccing everything, and have decided that any cups that are available as 3 or 5 single races should be completed in 3 or 5 different cars, unless it's a one car trophy like the Crossfire or Spitfire cups. This has lead to me mainly running the manufacturers championships series races to accrue enough cash to buy all the cars I'm going to need early on, and to get to 25% and the endurances so I can build some cash to go back to the beginner and professional hall races that need several cars.

However, I've barely had time to play over the past few weeks, got back from a week long training course in England on Sunday, and was more or less immediately sent to Corvallis, OR for the rest of this week, :grumpy:
This sort of hinderance, lack of playing time and lack of game cash (no I don't want to run the DTM over & over to generate quick credits!) is what's stopping me signing back up for the GT4 WRS at the moment. Give me another few months and I'll see you all back in there! :)

Well, I was 6.5 hours into the 24 hour race when the 🤬 power went out for about one second, just enough to reset the PS2. You can imagine how pissed I am right now. :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

there's a ton of threads about the missions in the main GT4 forum, everything's been covered to death pretty much, so all the help you might need should be over there.👍

I just passed 80% the last time I played, 100% is getting closer.:)

nice work CFM, i dont have the patience to play the GT game, i just stick to OLR. :P. a nice fat super save does me fine.
