WRS'ers and their ride...

Oh yes. I'm not a fan of Michelin tires, unless I made about 5 times as much as I do a year... They're good, but you don't give up much(or sometimes any!) spending half as much for a different brand.

Righty-O, I just took my baby for a fairly hard ride around a few corners and I'm getting some rubbing on the right tyre? The tyre size is identical to the ones I had on previously? I did notice that the guys who changed the tyres over swapped my front wheels around though so could that be the reason they're suddenly rubbing? It just seems odd?

They may be the same numerical size, but in reality, these tires have a much wider tread patch than what your other tires had most likely. Don't be too worried about rubbing though, it's a trade off. You might want to look into it a bit though to see just how bad it's rubbing, and if it's something to actually worry about. My car has the ability to rub all around right now, but I'm not worried about it too much. You might be able to see if there's anything you can do about the rubbing as well. It's probably minor enough that it's not really a big deal though.

I don't think I can tolerate it? Particularly if I wanna go back to the track where I'm only gonna be pushing it even harder that the streets?

It depends on what, how much, and where on the tire it's rubbing. You can put tape or chalk or something on the tire and then go for a drive and see where it's rubbed off. Then look at the car itself to see where it might be rubbing and find out if there's something you can do about it. And/or look online for some other people who are modifying the same car and see what they've experienced. If you're rubbing on the inside a tad, you may be able to get away with increasing the track(more grip!) with a 3 or 5mm spacer.

Well I went to take it back to the tyre place today and on the way I couldn't get the tyres to rub. I was diving into left handers trying to tripod the car and no rubbing whatsoever??? Dunno why it stopped but I'm happy :)

2002 Yamaha TTR-125, probaby not the most pimped out ride here. Features a 149cc carburated four stroke air cooled single cylinder engine with a 5-speed manual transmission, drum brakes on both ends and stickers with huge air bubbles. But I love it.

well jarrett, i read you're only 14, so how do you get to drive that bike?
anyway, looking at your 'tar i had thought you would be a beetle fan but obviously your not - or are you?

I ride it to some of the backwood trails we have here. Nobody really cares though, it's far away from the neighborhood and it's a small 4 stroke engine, pretty quiet. And yes, I'm a huge fan of the Beetle. It's been my dream car ever since my brother started up on his '70 autocross Beetle project. I love everything about them, and I've come to surprise alot of the older guys. I'm hoping to get a Beetle soon though, the first thing I'd do is a Porsche 944 disc brake upgrade and a nice roll cage. (It's an unsafe car and a very thin chassis that bends alot)

this is my ride.

well, it was for four wonderful days anyway.
anyone got a clue?

guess and i'll tell you later. sorry about the poor image quality.

Easy enough, that's a Qvale Mangusta, which was designed by DeTomaso before they went out of business. ;)
See a fair few of them around San Francisco as there's a dealer on Van Ness Street.

excellent.
by that time it was the only one in my country - with italian test plates.

Finally got round to replacing the 'weepy' water pump on my Mini. It had been dripping water out from between the bearings since I'd put it back on the road a couple of months ago.

For anyone who's not mechanically minded, there's a small hole on the underside of most water pumps that drips water when the bearings start to fail. The bearings usually hold the water back but as they get worn the water can make it's way through the bearings, dripping out of the hole warning you of immenent failure. Mine was loosing about a cupful of water a week doing about 50 miles a week, (my work commute is only three miles each way), so doing any long journeys in it has been a no no for the last few months, not wanting to risk finishing off the water pump bearings and ultimately the engine if I'd gone too far with it.

After a trip to Somerset at the weekend, a 250 miles each way trip, I can confirm that my next purchase for it will be a five speed gearbox. 250 miles of almost flat out driving in a Mini with a Nikki twin choke carb, race spec exhaust and only four gears is just a tad noisy!

80mph in fourth gear and it was showing 5500rpm on the rev counter, not exactly revving like a type-R engine but it's a hell of a lot noisier. :ouch:

Two days after returning I think my hearing has just about returned to normal. :D

Darren.

Very nice Mazda. I usually don't like black bonnets, but yours looks pretty good with the matching black wheels 👍

Thanks Casio, and that would be a Carbon Fibre hood, and the wheels are a dark bronze. Much easier to distinguish in person. The dark bronze is a rare color to see on wheels, and I knew they fit the car well.

Nice Mazda Falango, looks really good in that rainy shot. 👍

Thank you SuperT. The rainy shot was from last weekend. I used my dad's new Canon 30D, takes absolutely fantastic shots! Soon enough, I'll be doing another photoshoot.

For anyone that lives in or around the Vancouver area, take a drive up Hwy 99 to Porteau Cove. It's beautiful up there, lots of great scenery, and it's perfect for a nice photoshoot. The drive itself is a blast too!

A couple crappy pictures of my crappy 142. Ran faster at the drags(fully stripped) than my 244 did last time it was out. Same trap speed, just one's a manual the other's an auto, both sloooow. But this was faster than I expected. 17.3@76.6mph.

No pictures yet, but I got an '85 Corolla (AE86, if you must) for a daily, so you can add that to my name. :D

It's all stock, and it's an sr-5 Trueno hatchback. Looks like ****, also. :) Like I said, it's just my daily.

Damn, not many AE86s left. Take care of that baby, because there are people looking for those things.

Got back from our roadtrip in the Miata. 3200 miles of awesomeness!
My missus took this excellent picture on the first day, as we were passing by Stockton, CA on the way to Yosemite.
Let me know what you think? Look closely at the truck wheel. ;)

well, nick, that is an awesome picture. reading your profile about pixar i'd say the pic has to be tricked :) but maybe not. the most amazing is the sharpness of the truck you overtake; must be very high shutter speed.

Cool picture there...

And Steven: This couldn't be a high shutter-speed, otherwise the wheel wouldn't be blurred. Rather, a smooth road, both for the truck and the Miata, with a steady hand, is needed.

No tricks! No high shutter speed! :D
I'm clueless as to photoshop applications, and the picture was taken on the move by my wife in the passenger seat using a 6MegaPixel Nikon Coolpix L2 compact camera, so no fancy shutter speed adjustments to play with.
We were doing about 60mph at the time, and I think she rested the camera on the door frame to steady the shot. 👍
