The Alpine should be more on par than that, I got 2:06.564 in testing with the spec I sent to Furi (10hp down on current), so it should get low 2:06s.

But then Joe's Cobra time is .5 faster than mine (only tested each car for a few laps each though, so there's more). :scared:

Actually, after giving my Cobra a much needed engine rebuild I did a 2:05.425 without too much trouble (.3/4 left around the lap). Alpine I was hovering around 2:05.8/9 with more to find as well. Mustang is still well off the others.

Cobra bites a bit though on the brakes, I'm more suited to the PTs. :D

World Sportscar Championship V SEASON PREVIEW:

Part 2: GRAND TOURERS's

GT's had a dissapointing turn out last season, with the Alfa Romeo class stealing a lot of entries. It's somewhat refreshing and surprising then to see 7 different cars on the grid for this season and a massive entry. GT looks to be perhaps the closest class this season, and whilst slowest cars on track, may provide the most excitement out of the WSC field.

#21 SAGARIS / ???
Sagaris won his second GT category title last season, though he was the only regular driver in the series. His plans are unknown for this season, with him seeming to take a different car. Even he is reduced to part-time, then he will still rank a top contender and favourite in the events he enters. RATING: A+

#22 LOUT / Alpine
Lout moves from the Mustang to the new Alpine, a little RR rocket. Early testing pace looks very much favourable and Lout is a proven winner in this category. A title challenge is very much on the cards. RATING: A

#23 FLYINGFOX / Corvette
Fox's season was full of budget problems keeping him out most events but he returns for a more serious effort this season. In terms of pace Fox will struggle to challenge consistently, but his smooth style and familiarity with the Corvette will ensure he will be there to pick off people as they make mistakes. A dark horse. RATING: B+

#24 O'RAMA / Shelby
Last seasons Alfa's champion steps into something a lot more sideways and lairy, the Mustang. O'Rama was fastest Alfa by a long way last season, but he has struggled slightly to get to grips with the Mustang in testing. However, when he gets it sorted, a title challenge is definitely possible. RATING: A-

#25 RANHAMMER / Chevrolet
Randy is somewhat a paddock favourite with his cheerful attitude and willingness to get the car to the finish. Last season he was spending less time in the pits as well, and a re-union with the Camaro for him in GT should give him a better platform for getting closer to front runners. RATING: B

#26 CHRISJOHNSON / Lancia
Chris leads Lancia's WSC title assault and the car has very much looked on the pace in early testing. Chris is a pacy driver but has a tendency to put the car into a wall or someone else's door panel, this will have to be stopped if he is to tame the unpredictable Stratos. RATING: B+

#27 BRAUN / Jaguar
Braun steps down after a very disappointing season in Prototypes, full of incidents that stifled his progress. A move to the Jaguar E Type is perhaps slightly ill timed, at Daytona the car seemed very much off the pace, and it may take a while to get on it. RATING: B

#28 SAKERY / Chevrolet
Sakery has always been a very rapid driver in Alfa Romeo racing, so to see him move up to GT class is no surprise. Sakery has managed to keep the Camaro on the road in testing, rack up miles and some very impressive lap times. A title challenge is extremely probable. RATING: A

#29 DK / AC
DK returns to GT, a class he had moderate success in. A new car for him though, the brutal AC Cobra. It's been a while since the WSC has seen one in anger, and DK will certainly require all his wits about him to keep him in the hunt. The team may be skipping the Rolex this weekend and starting at Laguna Seca. RATING: B+

#30 Snowcrash / Corvette
A second Corvette confirmed for occasional appearances throughout the season, Snowcrash has shocked people with his pace at the Rolex, and in time trials at Eiger. In the events he runs, its likely he will be mixing it up at the very front in the rumbling 'Vette. RATING: A+

#31 Jamsy / AC
A second Cobra is to be entered at some events by Jamsy. He's put testing mileage down inbetween several incidents and crashes, and does at the moment look like he has an uphill battle ahead of him to move up the order. RATING: B-

Smart presentation Furi.

Just to let you know I have a Snowcrash backed/prepared Corvette. Hopefully this will boost me up the rankings.

Had a practice session this evening and the best lap was a 2:06.9xx.

Other than that I was in the low/mid 2:07's

I will not be challenging for the win on pace, for sure. But on consistency I am confident of a solid run.

I won't be racing this week. I have something else to do, and I haven't yet picked a car either. I tried the Stratos, and I wouldn't be very competitive in it. I've gotten into the 6s with it, but at the cost of spinning the lap before and the lap after and many other laps. :P

Also, I'm no A+ driver. A+ drivers don't have absolute clunkers like I do every once in a while: HSR in season 3, Daytona and Spa last year. A+ drivers also don't spin the Lancia Stratos every dozen corners.

Hope to attend at least one event this season, Ferrari where applicable,

Round 1 - 04 August

Daytona Road Course
80 Laps / 284.8 Miles

It wouldn't be a WSC season without starting off at Daytona. The evocative high banks are a speedbowl with the fastest cars hitting over 200mph. Daytona's WSC race is also one of the longest events on the calendar, 80 laps in an event over 2 hours in length. Mentally it's punishing, with no time to rest from oval to infield.

A Daytona Hot Lap:
When you are doing approaching 190mph across the line in a 500hp prototype you have to get your braking bang on. Get your car to drag to the right under braking and swing it into Turn 1, the car should arc through, don't be intimidated by the barriers encroaching through Turn 2. The Horseshoe - 180 degree hard on the brakes, you might run slightly wide on run off under power. Turn 4 is a flick to the left, about gathering as much speed as possible, make sure car is still on left side of the road for Turn 5, and guide it round for Turn 6, which opens up onto the banking. Flat to the floor and you see barriers on the NASCAR backstretch - time for Bus Stop chicane, slam brakes, throw car onto the kerb, still doing 100mph, and similar on the exit, running the car up to the wall - don't hit it, as approaching the Bus Stop wrongly can cost you around second in itself.

Furi's Race Control Statement To Drivers:
Welcome all to another season! For the pace lap, slowly get going off the banking, we have plenty of time to get formed. Pace speed is 50mph, single file until after the Bus Stop Chicane, where we will form double file for the start. Leader can decide to green any time from start of pit lane, and once he crosses the line the race is go everybody.

Watch your self with traffic PT drivers, remember that GT class has right to hold there line. And remember, its a very long race, one mistake early on doesn't mean your hopes of a good finish are dashed.

Best of luck to all, just please clear cache before we begin ;)

Furinkazen.
