@Wardez: What do you meen with "cutoff".. Should we close sign-ups or do you want to have a quali to determine which 14 drivers that are going to be let into the series?
If you want a quali, my suggestion is that the commited drivers from WSGTC 1 will have a reservated spot in the championship without the need to quali, and all new drivers need to quali their way in to WSGTC 2.

Just talking about participation over the different classes. It seems to be another GT500 romp fest coming on. We need to figure out a way to limit the number of GT500 people signing up or other-wise promote the GT300 side of the series.

And Masi, I'm glad you made it out ok. Hopefully sometime in the not to distant future you can swing by and take a few laps for old time's sake 👍

Glad you all get out of that in one piece Masi. 👍
Some people tend to forget the weapon they have in their hands while driving. It only takes 1 second of distraction and your life and others are in danger.

Good luck with your study.

Hope you can join us some time soon, even if only for one round.

Should we put a stop at 14 cars/class? And as soon as either class is filled up, we'll promote the other class (probably GT300) to maek sure we got 14 commited drivers/class?

I don't want a list of 30 drivers/class and only 30% is dedicated. Much better to have a smaller list with drivers that will stay commited. 👍

I hear what you say about attracting drivers to gt300. I think you just have to be careful to not scare potential dedicated drivers away by closing sign ups too early. I think you should let the gt500 class get to 20 drivers before letting gt300 catch up. You can always remove the undedicated drivers from the gt500 list if they're inactive after the first few races and haven't given a reason why they haven't attended a qualifying/race session. As long as we open sign-ups for WSGTC 2 just after WSGTC 1 ends, we should easily have enough dedicated drivers signed up in both classes for when the season gets underway. That assuming we still have some pre-season races. Which brings up another point - don't have too many pre-season races like in WSGTC 1 because people will get bored.

I'd also like if everyone who's interested in participating and stay committed in WSGTC 2 could copy and paste in the list below (make sure to copy the entire post):

I have been in limbo on the class to run next season.

I truly will decide once car choices and regulations are ironed out.

I like both class of cars. Really enjoy the RX7. However if the Toms Supra is competitive I may go with that car. Idk still in limbo with car choice.

So for short term usage and prob just stick with same car and class as current season.

Tbh, I too was considering dropping down to the GT300 class. I had for awhile now and now that I see there are nearly twice as many GT500 drivers it makes me want to switch even more.

As for cars, would it be out of the question now that we have the power limiter to suggest maybe seeing if we can add a few RM cars and use the power limiter to bring them down into a competitive range for the rest of the field? I remember it was brought up around the time the power limiter was introduced it was decided that we would wait until season two before considering using it to add more cars to use.

Yeah it would be nice to add the Evo, new STi, the Silvia, IS-F,

also, the Lotus Sports Exige 300RR was used in Super GT back in '05 for a while as a GT300 class car. Check this link to the official Super GT site to see its entry registration for the GT300 class

We could use the Lotus Elise 111R RM '04 RM to include it in the series, which would be awesome.

We would just need to be careful in testing any new cars obviously, in hopes of balancing them out to be included as a level player.

i dont think it is a good idea to bring non super gt cars into the championship with some testing we can have 7 competetive gt300 cars.....:)

I just stated all over the post about how the Lotus is a GT300 car. Obviously it wouldn't have the same look as the regular Super GT cars but you can look at it more as just a team with no sponsors.

I'd say the more the merrier as I see no real reason to not include cars that were raced in Super Gt but just don't have the stickers unless we're going the total purist route. But I only really thought of it since Denilson's suggestion of using the RM NSX in the finale.

I can't see any reason why a "non GT300" car could be included as long as the hp, weight are similar, and aero identical (or almost). As long as the new car is equal to the other ones, I only see upsides. 👍

in my opinion, keeping just 'official' gt5 super gt cars makes it more legit, maybe if some other gt300 cars are incorporated as theres a grey silvia, cant remember the full name, can post if anyone needs it though, oh and like owens and mh4wheel have said they may consider dropping to gt300, im up for doing that also, so maybe the gt300 field may be a little more balanced in mixed class races in season 2 :)

If you start going out the Super GT or even JGTC box this will start causing problems.. Keep it legitimate.. Try incorporating actual cars that ran in the series such as the C-West Razo Silvia etc that joshua was talking about..

Well I guess I'll go ahead and say it for the third time then.

The Lotus Exige Elise participated in Super GT from 2005 to 2008.

What else do you need for it to be a "legitimate" Super GT car?

And there's no problem at all with matching the specs since the car is easily tune able to GT300 standards.

There isnt a Lotus Exige in this game though thats the thing.. I mean actual Super GT or JGTC cars, not replicas! Stick to cars that are actually in the game would make it better because you could argue, the Lamborghini Gallardo competed in the Super GT in 2010. Would that really be fair?

Others that can be used..

Ferari F430
Legacy B4 (not the correct model)
Nssan Fairlady Z (Z33/350Z)

You could even take the RUF moels and use them as they are pretty close to Porsche performance numbers... such as the Boxster (RUF 3400s)

Meant to say the Elise 111R which is essentially a roadster road going version. Giving it the RM treatment however pretty much turns it into a coupe hardtop Exige 300R.

I know that's a stretch but the car's considerable.

The other cars you've listed aren't in mind because they're can't be "Race Modified". And there's a lot more random privateer cars that've run their course in Super GT as you know, but I'm only pitching RM cars in GT5 that have participated, in one way or another, in Super GT - past, present, or future.

I draw the line at JGTC xD
Get the picture now?

Hi guys. Hope you're all well...

seeing as most people are debating car choice and rules, i have an idea for the way the threads are presented and organised:

how about having a main 'Hub' page which, along with containing info on all the rules and procedures (as the current one does) also contains links to a sign-up form and a link to the current week's race thread meaning the race thread itself is kept simple and tidy (no need for the rules and procedures to be posted as it can be linked back to the OP)

e.g.

GTP WSGTC

[pictures etc]

GT500 Sign-up

GT300 Sign-up
(these two would link straight to an easy-to-complete form which should help admin to organise and monitor the numbers in each class)

[Race Schedule:
(race number/date/time): Rolex GT
(race number/date/time): Corkscrew GT
(race number/date/time): Autobacs GT
(race number/date/time): Nismo GT
(race number/date/time): Polyphony GT
etc...]
(here, WSGTC is in the second week - so the second week's race is a link which directs straight to the Corkscrew GT thread, while the others are plain text until the the new thread is opened...i've used the old Corkscrew GT thread in the link, in case people are getting confused - this is just an example)

[points tables]

[rules and procedures]

etc...

what do you guys think though? would it simplify or just confuse?

EDIT: also, a link to a page (a simple spreadsheet?) to the official Driver/Car/PP limits would be great

Hi guys, I've read through most of the stuff and not to put a downer on anyone's ideas, but I liked the old way that the season was run. 2 qualifying laps definitely make things less stressful, and please dont close signups too early, I was only in the season more than halfway through and I'm sticking around! once we have too many drivers to fill 2 division of 14 cars each then maybe we should start thinking about closing signups.

I like the idea that D2 cars will get more points, makes it more fair and gives them a chance in overall season!

I dont know if i missed anything, but what I liked about the first season too was the "Highlights" with photos and I agree with Hortus having one MAIN POST with links to all other posts. makes things easier to follow.

We weren't talking about closing sign ups at any time. Just trying to figure out how to somehow limit the number of GT500 entrants since it seems that's all people care to try.

Glad you're sticking around UAE.

I pretty much agree with all the initial suggestions by Denilson except for the HEAVY DAMAGE (I prefer LIGHT damage). But I will follow whatever the final decision is.

About the cars:

GT500's will contain 16 cars:
Nissan XANAVI NISMO GT-R
Nissan YELLOWHAT YMS TOMICA GT-R
Nissan WOODONE CLARION ADVAN GT-R
Nissan CALSONIC IMPUL GT-R
Nissan AUTECH MOTUL GT-R
Nissan XANAVI NISMO Z
Toyota CASTROL TOM'S SUPRA
Toyota YELLOWHAT SUPRA
Honda RAYBRING NSX
Honda TAKATA DOME NSX
Honda ARTA NSX
Honda EPSON NSX
Lexus PETRONAS TOM'S SC430
Lexus ENEOS SC430
Lexus BANDAI DIREZZA SC430
Lexus DENSO DUNLOP SC430

GT300:
RE Amemaiya ASPARADRINK RX7 '06
RE Amemaiya ASPARADRINK RX7 '03
Autobacs ARTA GARAIYA '08
Autobacs ARTA GARAIYA '03
Subaru CUSCO DUNLOP IMPREZA '08
Subaru CUSCU DUNLOP IMPREZA '04
Lexus WEDSPORT IS350
Toyota WEDSPORT CELICA
Toyota APEX MR-S

GT500's got a solid number of cars to choose from, so the list of eligable GT500 cars will not be changed. We are going to perform some testing to make sure all 16 cars are equal. Perhaps we need to remove the WOODONE GT-R, EPSON NSX and Lexus ENEOS and BANDAI DIREZZA if we can't make them equal. But even if we exclude those models we still got 12 cars in the championship which is perfectly fine.

GT300's need a few more cars, or atleast make all eligable cars competative. The way I see it is that for now, only the RE Amemaiya ASPARADRINK RX7 '06, Autobacs ARTA GARAIYA '08, Toyota WEDSPORT CELICA and Toyota APEX MR-S are compatible. We need to work out proper tunes/PP's for the rest of the cars to bring them up to standards.
I'm not that sure of the ASPARADRINK RX7 '03 and the ARTA GARAIYA '03.. Are they equal to the more recent model or do they need to get some more PP's? Is there any other car that we can include in the GT300 class? Did I read something about a Nissan SILVIA?

I'm also concidering to put a limit to how many drivers can use one specific model. 3 drivers per model? Maybee 2 driver per car in the GT500's, and 3 drivers per car in GT300's (Since the number of eligable cars are less compared to the GT500 class).

What do you think about this?

Well Sincethere seems to be a few signups more tfor gt500 than gt300.. ill put myself down for gt300 (D-Max)

Also Wardez, I get what you're saying and understd now.. I didn't realise yo meant RM lol.. In that case we could add the Impreza, Evo, Silvia & Elise :)

I have an idea for next season. It's a complete ravamp of the class system, but I believe it would offer a lot of benefits and still essentially maintain the two class system.

- Each member gets to choose both a GT300 and GT500 car.
- At the beginning of each round (Friday night after the race), each member is randomly assigned to the GT300 or GT500 class. Done in a way that makes the number of drivers in each class relatively the same for every race
- Points earned in each race are added to each racer’s overall running total

Potential benefits
1) Every member of WSGTC can compete against each other (there’s a lot of good racers in each class and last season I always wanted to be able to race against members in the other class)
2) This would help maintain an equal number of GT300 and GT500 racers in each race (an issue that we had in season 1), and adding new members wouldn’t change the ratio of GT500 to GT300 drivers because they would be randomizes each round with everyone else.
3) It would make things interesting, some people might be better with GT500 cars, or vise versa...!

*I know this isn’t consistent with how the actualy JGTC/SUPER GT series works, but I though this might be a cool way for everyone to compete against each other and still maintain the GT300/500 class system.

I really love this series and it’s racers and I’m definitely looking forward to another season!

What do you think about this?

I'd say more cars the better. And I'm all for setting a limit on # of drivers per car. But how would we determine who get's what car if the want exceeds the limit?

(thanks for adding my name again Sloth 👍)

my views on some of the ideas so far

- car limits: i think limiting drivers per car is a good idea - would it be done on a first come first serve basis?

- tyres: hard tyres were fun, but a mandatory stop for a different compound would really make things interesting, strategy wise

- RM cars: i personally believe that, even though there are few GT300 cars, we should stick to official Super GT models only - unless we can find actual liveried cars that once competed in Super GT irf. it is called WSGTC afterall. but cars like the C-WEST Silvia look good, imo

- tsukuba instead of indy for the GT300s: i'd love to do that, personally, but would worry that the series might go the way of splitting into two separate series if it was a success and people wanted to do it more often.

- damage: seeing as the series uses a penalty system already, i'd prefer to see light damage brought in for WSGTC 2.
let's imagine that in the next race (Nurb 24h) there's an accidental coming together which results in quite severe damage to one or more cars...depending on where the accident takes place, you're looking at a few minutes of actual green hell as you struggle around the rest of the lap.
light damage would remedy this. besides, i'd like to think that everybody who races in the series is mostly clean anyway, meaning very few people actually want to make damage-inflicting contact with another car/driver.

- ballast penalties for drivers leading the tables: i think this is good idea. it would even out the field a little

- more stewards/people who can verify quali laps: joy!

- switching class: sounds like fun, but wouldn't that make things a bit complicated for admin/organisers etc?

The whole randomizing things is actually really simple, and would take <1 minute using random.org. I don't think it would add a whole lot of administrative time, and I would gladly volunteer to help with anything season 2 related.
