The maloo? You may have to rejog my memory on that one.

way back at the start you found 3 (i think) references to car names. one said maloo r8 or something (i'll find it in a minute) and that would be a HSV VX Maloo R8 '00 (ute from australia). the maloo is one of aus's best cars ever

edit : sorry, it was a clubsport "clubsport_r8_00". wish there was a maloo though
also, the 2 bugattis would be cool, especially the 18.4. kaz could tell the veyron would be big i see.

i understand that searching takes a very long time, i just thought i'd remind you of the three cars you mentioned way back.

wait on, using gt3gedit it would be possible to build a holden v8 supercar with that model!

thanks sonygamer

Oh yes them cars.

Unfortunately during my researching, along with the Alfa 156 Touring Car having no coding...those cars have nothing at all except their name codes. I have a theory that PD wanted to add these in, but license issues prevented it from happening.

It's a similar case with the GT2 demos I looked through with the Lamborghini and Ferrari cars in there. Their names are in there, but nothing seemed to have been started besides a placeholder car.

Hey, i saw various photos from Gran Turismo 2000 and GT3 Beta. I had found beta tracks from Gran Turismo 2000 there just like SSR5 (shown in intro), Laguna Seca and Trial Mountain, but were there any secret or hidden cars in this version?

It really sucks being the bearer of bad news, but I guess I have to tell you guys.

Every single car I found in this thread have no coding made for them. So...the best you can really do is the use body swapping codes. They're not permanent however.

ah.

can you post the gt2 names you found or is there a gt2 research thread i have missed?

Try checking the "Searching for Evidence of Hidden Things" topic. I should have posted a quote with the hidden car names in there.

------------------------------------------------------------------------

As for the GT3 cars, what do you guys think? Should I go ahead with a body swapping code for racing?

I'll look into GT Concept now, and see if that has anything in there.

Is there a body code for that West McLaren F1? Thinking about replacing an existing F/XXX's body with it.

I could do that, I was thinking of replacing a F/XXX body too.

Doesn't the various F/XXX cars vary in chassis size? Would need to find which one suits it the best.

----------------------------------------------------------------

Also for anyone curious, here's why it wouldn't be permanent.

The usual body code in the game would look like this: F4EBE4E72E192B18 (F686/M), which is also this value: 00068766F60C1934
The West McLaren F1 (And other cars like it except the ho0097) doesn't have a body code but it does have a code like the 2nd one above, so I can swap it with anything.
If you have a body code like the first one, then it could be permanent.

Once again, it sucks. But I guess PD deleted the coding before releasing the game.

i knew that the cars have no coding, only bodies. thats fine because its easy to make up a hybrid to use for them which replicates whatever it would have been. also, the west mclaren has coding (sample001) remember? are you not wanting to use it because it wasn't very good? (you can fix the tranny by changing the autoset to a normal value)

About coding? Were there any information about TVR Cerbera Speed 6 (Sample). It was only as a sample test car or it would be a normal car used to drive?

Sometimes I wonder (though sadly doubt) if the PAL soundtrack was present in the NTSC release, and vice versa. It would've been great to have Junkie XL's "Def Beat" and Overseer's "Supermoves" in the same release.

im sure ive asked a similar question, but can you use gt3gedit's hex/gs2/gt3 value edit feature to change the body of a car to a non-listed one?

also, the hex values for the sample cars are consecutive. would it be worth me trying out the values before and after the 10 currently known sample cars?

EDIT:
i'll start making an xps file with the experiments. i need someone to convert it to a legitimate ps2 save. (i think sonygamer usually does it for me)

HAD Another look, they're not consecutive, they're almost. there are gaps which i am researching now.

sorry but i thought this deserved a second post

the sample cars have one of two second parts which puts them in 2 groups. the letters are the suspected sample cars. i'll upload a save file soon. the only problem is that i don't know which actual parts go with the cars even if i find them. this means a name will show in the garage, but they will have alternate coding and body. i can later investigate the body hex values. the other parts are most likely the rx-7 type rs like with all the other sample cars (except 001 which is it's own (west f1 car))
Code:
GROUP ONE
001 CCAC19BA F3C3B786
"A" CCAC19BB F3C3B786
"B" CCAC19BC F3C3B786
003 CCAC19BD F3C3B786
"C" CCAC19BE F3C3B786
"D" CCAC19BF F3C3B786
"E" CCAC19C1 F3C3B786
"F" CCAC19C2 F3C3B786
007 CCAC19C3 F3C3B786
"G" CCAC19C4 F3C3B786
"H" CCAC19C5 F3C3B786
009 CCAC19C6 F3C3B786
~FIFTEEN VALUES
010 CCAC1A39 F3C3B786

GROUP TWO
002 CCAC19BC 73C3B786
"I" CCAC19BD 73C3B786
"J" CCAC19BE 73C3B786
004 CCAC19BF 73C3B786

"L" CCAC19C3 73C3B786
"M" CCAC19C4 73C3B786
008 CCAC19C5 73C3B786

heres the savegame. might not even load. the samples mostly have rx-7 or mx-5 coding and already found sample or mx-5 bodies

I've given that a try and all the ones i've tried show up as a "V6" name, which means an invalid car base value.

The game doesn't recognize any car bases that isn't defined by the database file it loads on boot.

As for car bodies, all the ones that have defined values are in the GT3GEdit program. There doesn't appear to be any values that exist outside the database file.

As for the body replacement codes, i'll be posting them on the cheat device topic.

^ Awesome! But too bad none of these are present on the GT6 thread... :indiff:

Also missing are the logos of the following tracks:

"Circuito di Roma" (current name of Rome Circuit, logo available at gran-turismo.com)
Red Bull Ring (logo available at gran-turismo.com)
Circuito de la Sierra
Top Gear Test Track
Clubman Stage Route 5 (used only in GT4)
Toscana Gran Turismo Rally 2010

Corvette C5R is known as "corvette_cr5_00" in the code. either pd was too lazy to change or realised too late or just didn't realise. i've done similar things in html. make a mistake like that then remember to misspell it everywhere else too.

Front bumber on side view is different. But it still can be it.

Rear wing is pretty small, in GT1 it is pretty big. MAYBE they used CASTROL Supra blueprint. :)

yeah i knew the gt1 supra was a gt or modded one. just noticed that selecting semi-racing transmission for lupo cup car in mks tool causes all ratio settings to go to 64.537 (except final). this is what some hidden cars have by default in the pal game which causes reverse and 1st to switch. does the lupo allow a semi-race box in tune shop? (btw i was making a golf w12 replica if anyone's interested in specs, used a lister v12 engine)

edit: also did anyone notice that the effect of an option flashing when you select it only happens on CRT TVs? that's because all the game does is display lots of lines close to each other. on CRT TVs this causes a flashing effect, on plasmas/lcds it just shows lines. not sure about component on a crt though, ive only tried composite

it often shows flashing for a few secs when you select an option, but sometimes it shows a slightly different effect which last until it goes black (fades to black slowly and shows white square in corner). i remember it being used when you select arcade mode/gt mode/replay theatre and also when you select entry at a race

also the text on machine test has nothing to do with machine test

This is due to the interlacing the game uses. The game shows 2 different looking frames within 2 frames of game time, this gives off a that rather sharp look to the game.

If the game slows down, the screen will "shake". This is due to the interlacing used. This is most noticable on GT4.

what do the other colours on the sample cars look like? there are some two-tones there but i dont know how they'd work. (can't check myself, pal version so i get miras)

sample009 on the ntsc has different front and rear wheels! i thought that was impossible hence the 787b's identical front and rear
