Yeah, stupid there was no warning. I had just traded for a few nice ones the day before and can't get them to my main account now= wasted time. The reason for multiple accounts was to defeat the one trade per day which should have been like 5 a day. Again, we paid real $ for the game why the hell shouldn't they be happy with that and leave us to do what we want with it. If I could somehow return it to them in boycott so they lose out and understand they shouldn't mess with features they started with, I would in a heartbeat.

If they started with a trade cap, lifted it, then put it back in because things were getting "crazy" I can see that being legit. But when you buy a game it has a fun feature, then they take it away, it is kinda defeating and bait and switch as some say. Were people getting killed because of trading expensive cars? Was there any reported acts of violence? Was it making the game pointless for everyone? I want to know why they felt they needed to play parents.

totally agree with you. we pay a real bucks here, and i am satisfied because at first i thought i could collect all rare cars. and everyone enjoyed it, just look at trade marketplace..now suddenly i just feel bored about this game. grinding is not my hobby and i got a real life to live. PD is really dissapointed me. luckily i haven't thrown my 300 bucks on logitech g27 for this game, because i will put the gt5 cd back in the box untill PD making any change about trading policy, and i can get all my rare cars back from my 2nd and 3rd account into my main account. because without a complete garage, this game is SUCKS!!!!

Oh well, atleast they haven't banned gifting entirely.

To stop duping completely, they would either have to ban gifting or remove the option to backup your save.

Why didn't they just do this from the start when duping was started?
.

You are assuming PD have brains...you know what they say about assumption being the mother of all eff-ups?

Is there any kind of announcement why PD have done this, if it is permanent, a test of some kind to stop dupping and ebay sales of virtual cars, or are we all assuming they have made this update to stop said actions?

There is no way this will last.Perhaps I'm being naive but how can they take included features that we all paid for and change them to their liking?I paid THEM for this? This was not a game breaker or glitch. In the 6 plus years it took them to make this PD didn't see this system getting used like this? The backlash will be too much to ignore and we'll go back to normal. It's tough to type with my fingers crossed.

Too many people seem too interested in what they can get for free, it used to be just in real-life.. but now it's in the virtual racing world. Maybe PD should introduce a benefits or tax credit system, so people too lazy to get off there ass and work for cars can simply be given them.

How about peeps like me who have a wife 3 kids and a job and a life outside of the net?

Most of the time my kids are on the PS3 when we are home and they have done their homework...which is before i get home. After i can claim the TV my wife has to watch her programs and then its about 10 at night when she goes to bed because she gets up at 5.30 to get things ready before she goes to work.
Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays me and my eldest son have martial arts from 6.30 until 9.30, Sundays we all go out as a family....or am i lazy for wanting to trade for that rare car that never seems to show up in the UCD-as well?

I am car collecting, and I have 3 accounts to buy the cars from, since the rotation is different at the UCD. I have made a few trades on the expensive cars, but I am also EARNING credits in my extra accounts to collect rare cars, but now I have a few that I can't send to my main account even though I earned them.

I have a simple solution: how about they raise the limit to say 2.5 million (still 1 car per day per PS3), and then also allow one "any car" gift per week? That would still allow expensive car trading but not excessive amounts, and it would allow people, like myself, that have earned their cars on separate accounts to send them to our main account. Once I get all the cars, I plan on deleting my 2 extra accounts.

Too right its stupid, i dont dupe i have one account i play the game fairly by the time i started trading which was 2 weeks ago i'd nearly finished the game i only had endurance events to do on a-spec and b-spec, my point is i like trading its fun its great getting new cars and takin them on the track, if there going to do this then every car must be made available to buy and sell i dont want to be waiting 2 weeks for a car to come into ucd how boring is that.

ALl of the people popping in here to say "it doesn't bother me, I have all the cars I need" or the people complaining that their cars are strewn about over their multiple accounts can also be roped into the reasons that this happened.

Shortsightedness.

So, because I EARNED cars on my other accounts, since the UCD is random, I was the problem. Yes, I have three accounts, and my 2 extra accounts are for car collecting, and I have earned every car in those accounts, and I can't get the 1m+ ones to my main account now. If they did what I suggested, and raise the limit to 2.5 million, and keep the one car a day per PS3, I would be fine. I also suggested that one 2.5m+ car could be gifted per week. That would solve about 90% of the excessive trading.

PD sure was in a hurry to take away a fun, probably unintended, side of GT5. Never mind addressing the game's real shortcomings or bugs. When GT5p was out you could clone your entire game to other PSN IDs, it was never an issue. Was it?!

Wow, I just got the last car I needed yesterday!
What perfect timing in my goal to collect every car.
Woo Hooo!

I just traded a Zagato between my two accounts on the same PS3 without any problems.

Apparently, nobody noticed this message I posted earlier this day.

- I did upgrade 1.07 this morning.
- Won the Zagato (10 million Cr) with the historic race championship in B-Spec
- Traded it from my "turbogeit" to my "turbogeit2" account on the same PS.

How to explain it: I see 3 possibilities

1) the limit does not concern cars won as trophies
2) the limit does not apply when trading from one account to another on the same PS3
3) it no longer applies

No, clearly if you were "obeying" the rules you weren't the problem.

I was referring to the dupers that were using accounts specifically to farm cars, ie make multiple copies (which I'm fine with...) but who are NOW complaining that they can't get those cars to their main account. The bottom line is that you "cheated" and now you got caught pants down.

The other point I was making are the people that are popping in here to gloat and suggest that "it doesn't bother them, they've already gotten all of the cars they need". Why would you say that? It doesn't help the situation, and it certainly isn't friendly? Are we supposed to envy you now and feel bad because we didn't dupe and were playing the game "as intended"? (Again, I had nothing against duping, I just didn't do it (except those selling cars... thats ridiculous)).

Anyways, I suggest that users keep tabs on these individuals who were likely heavy traders and are popping in here to give us the "haha, you should've duped" or whatever, because if in fact they were running it "like a business" if PD ever goes back to a Laissez Faire system, they're going to learn a thing or two about business ethics.

There's really nothing PD can do. It's not cheating and it's not hacking. It's simply finding flaws/exploits in the game.
Everyone will agree that seeing someone online who is level 10 and has almost every high end car is annoying, especially is you put in a lot of hard to work to grind and grind through endless days of repeating the same events. But, we play a game the way we feel is more comfortable. these people will try and exploit the game to achieve owning all the cars without having to put the effort in but who are we to say they can't? They're just ruining it for themselves and obviously these people have no interest in owning a Lotus elan and raping around the Nurb.

Just enjoy what you're comfortable with and leave them to their own devices.

As I said, I'm not here to judge the people who chose to dupe. If they wanted to play THEIR game that way, by all means. I was saying there was no need to gloat about it to those of us who didn't get the cars we wanted before the trade cap.

Clearly though PD has done something about it... I mean trading has been all but shut down.

I suspect Yamauchi was sitting there playing away trying to earn himself a shiny new Ferrari 330... he was probably right up around 18 million and got bored. So he said, "we need to activate remote racing" because frankly... you know all of the people at PD are going to race his bobs so they don't look bad. And he FINALLY emerges a week later boasting how awesome it is to drive this great car, not to mention WIN THE DARN HISTORIC CUP ON B-SPEC WITHOUT GLITCHGAMES! and one of his employees says... "sir, we know" YOU KNOW! he exclaims... expecting that he was one of the first to own the car in the office. They reply "yes, Billy the intern duped them for us, we all have them".

Then he demands trading get shut down, and drives away in his REAL LIFE FREE NISSAN GTR!

Seems fair to me? Well... at least thats the way it plays out in my head...

haha.

I worked to earn the $100 I spent on the special edition.

I shouldn't have to work to "earn" the cars on the disc of a driving simulator.

Guess I'll never drive a really large portion of really nice cars in the game I bought and play every day.

I't's not going to affect my trading at all... the only cars I want are not even close to 1 million credits. I picked up all the expensive race cars first and they are all in my main garage so I can use them online if I want.

This just looks like PD caved in to the "barely out of diapers" set who need to feel like they have "earned" something because they setup a Bspec race and went to bed, or have so boring a life that they can sit for hours grinding an Aspec race for enough credits to pay for a car.

Well said brother. 👍

It would of been nice if they had added an endurance race save feature along with this little surprise.

At least they would of pissed off everyone equally.

I guess, depending on your point of view

again i state, PD and Yamauchi or whatever his name is has SCrewed up again, this does not help anyone, how about a save feature for endurance races? or how about fixing the Paint so u can see what the paint looks like on the car itself not some dumb model. PD = idiots.

Auto grind A spec....
All you need is a rubberband a keyboard a peice of paper and something small to hold on a small amount of steering...
you can get 10 mill credits over night!!! ( Depending on how long you leave it )
You also have to have an x2010 too....
here is a link to you tube on how to set it up!!!
This is not my video so all credit goes to the video's uploader....

they shoulda fixed the shadows or something kool not just take away and restrict more stuff. its w/e i got over 1200 cars but maybe theres a few that i dont have that i would have wanted to trade for. and now i cant. im not a fanboy that sits infront of a tv playing video games all day, i rubberband it and leave it

Well this all was a suprise!

I woke up this morning ready to send the 2 cars off before I go to work, I sign into GTPlanet to see who i'm sending too...then see all the "red alerts".

I only recently started the whole duping thing, I voiced my opinion on the issue stating I disagree with it and am proud not to be doing it.

Suffice to say I was suprised to see myself end up duping....I brought a USB stick to back up my game save as I was hearing horror storys off people losing there data.
The ease in which I could aquire all the cars I wanted was too great a temptation and I went for it.

But in the end, after getting nearly all the cars I wanted, I felt cheap, like I had somehow cheated the system and didn't deserve the cars.

So, I am actually pleased PD have decided to do this, for the first time ever I joined a trading room and there was no X2010, no Lemans, it was normal, cool cars and was so refreshing to see.

In conclusion, I think its great, and I am inspired enough to re-start the game with my own imposed limits on tuning. I have started doing this and am enjoying it far more this time round.

I have an official translation of that twitter post btw.

It says...

Ill temporarily resume the trading of cars over 1 million bla bla bla in 3 hours
(7hours ago)
im sorry i didnt give a notice. it was my bad. I(i dont know who) borrowed the x2010 from a friend
and i still havent returned it.

This is from someone fluent in Japanese... just so it's clarified.

Congrats, that makes you not only a hypocrite, but probably the most immoral person in the marketplace.

Most people trading cars do not consider it cheating; you on the other had always considered it cheating, but were quite happy to do it until you aquired all the cars you wanted, at which point you regained your morality and were somehow "saved". That is both pathetic and a little sad.

Err what?

Try reading that again and thinking before you type.

"most immoral person on the market place", i'm concerned as to what your definition of immorality is.

I have never branded it publicaly as "cheating" the sentence says "like I had somehow cheated the system"- hardly branding everyone who dupes as cheaters is it?

Also read again, I never aquired all the cars I wanted, the list is still long....do you need glasses? ;)

"at which point you regained your morality and were somehow "saved". " Neither did I imply that, I am not claiming to be holier than thou, the update mearly made me look back to how I used to play the game, and looking back I prefered that way.

But i'm sorry for changing my view on a subject, i'm sure it would have been better to just judge something without trying it out and making a decision from that, I guess it was silly of me to forget that there are some arrogant, all-damning keyboard warriors on this forum who cant be arsed to even listen to anyone's opinion but there own. AKA you my old chum.

Thank you for your time though, I will re-asses my morals and base all future game related decisions on your assesment of my "morality"

Actually thinking further, you did listen to some of my opinion, but rather nicely left out
I felt cheap, like I had somehow cheated the system and didn't deserve the cars.

This again are my personal feelings, one you or no-one else has a right to judge, more importantly, how does that effect you in any way?

The key point I was making.....

There was no revelation, there was no sudden epifany, this update happened, I felt relieved in that I didn't have to worry about my huge trade schedule anymore.

This got me thinking, it was simple and easy before I was duping, so now ive been forced to re-think my trading I decided to go back to the old way.

Hardly being "saved", more logical thinking (something you may want to consider)

I'm not sure if PD realizes that we don't HAVE to play Gran Turismo 5. There are plenty of other games out there that they don't seem to be aware of. I, for one, will buy DiRT 3 the day it comes out and never look back to GT5. I can see why duping and selling cars on eBay was becoming a problem, but surely there is a better way?
