Saw this while browsing google. Never knew BMW built a Z3M Coupe factory racecar. Looks amazing. I wonder what racing series it was in.

Here's a car I assumed existed because of the major differences between the versions of this car which raced at Le Mans in '97 and '98. I had also come across pictures of a slot car version of this car.

It's the 1997 Nissan R390 road car. Visually it's very different to the 1998 version, the most obvious difference is the lack of a long tail which seen on the '98 model.

That car is actually in GT2, a bit hard to find iirc
So that's why the short version was in GT2. I've been wondering that for years, ever since I got the game. I never realized the race cars had different versions.

and in GT4:

Like has been said, only the long version was in GT4, not the short as in GT2.

Now that's what I call an engine. I'd take one of them without the bodykit. Surprised they dodn't go the whole hog and put their trademark twin-turbo setup on it, although I don't see much space!

Double-post, but I read an article on a car that I didn't know about today. It made for a very interesting read. the car in question is an ASA 1000GT – A baby Ferrari in all but name, it was even dubbed the 'Ferrarina' (The Little Ferrari). Built in 1962 and powered by a Ferrari designed 1.0l 4-cyl engine using similar heads found in the V12 engine of the Testa Rossa Le Mans car at the time. The little Ferrarina motor pumped out a not insignificant (for the era) 84 hp. The 1000GT was designed by Bizarrini and penned by a young Giorgetto Giugario at Bertone (quite the names to be associated with!) and retains the lines of certain Ferraris of the era, most notably the Lusso. Motoring hacks loved it, but ASA just couldn’t translate the good press into lire. ASA quietly closed its doors in 1966 having only sold a handful of 1000GTs. Such a shame.

Agreed, that's such a pretty little car. And I genuinely didn't know it existed.

I often find myself actually with this thread thinking "hmm, I actually do recall seeing that car somewhere before". Especially with some of the more mundane things that people post. I'm ridiculously geekish with knowing about unusual stuff or versions from other countries (like all the small, ugly sedans based on European hatchbacks that they sell in Mexico/Brazil/Africa/Eastern Europe etc). But this one I really didn't know existed, which is odd as I'm a great fan of the car it's based on:

It's the saloon version of the Mazda Lantis (also known as Astina, 323 and other things around the world). I'd never seen the thing before I was searching for pics of the regular Lantis for the imports thread. I like the looks of it quite a lot (maybe even as much as the hatch). They even put the 2.0 V6 in it. Do want.

I'm not so sure myself, the back just looks like a Mondeo and the front looks very bland and those fog lights look ridiculous.

Maroon isn't the best colour for it really (hell, I dislike maroon on cars entirely and makes virtually anything look dull). This one is a stock silver one. I like how it has the roofline of the very sleek hatchback version:

There are loads of them here, but the front end looks slightly different. I can't recall what it's badged as here though. It is a very pretty design. I will try and get a photo of one next time I see one.

As far as I can make out from some patchy sources, Zakspeed made the car and Volvo Germany refused to support them at all in their campaign. Consequently the DTM organisers were refused entry, and the project canned.

It's a Suzuki Wagon R+ for the European market. That sounds pretty dreadful, so let's put it this way: It's a Kei car with a 1.2 litre engine. The power, somehow, is only 65 hp, but there is surely room for improvement. Oh well, I actually wrote the first part before I researched the power. It's not that good.

What if I redeem myself with a gorgeous 4th gen Wagon R?

It's pretty damn popular over here, and has just been replaced with Vauxhall's version of the Suzuki Splash.
