Im not even playing now, I just dont care, I literally in past week played more GT4 then this... And this is basically Gran turismo SPORT 1.7. and they ****ed up even sport aspect, and they had years to learn stuff from sport.
Mmacrotransactions, bugs, problems, aggressive ploys taken from ****ing phone gatcha games, lack of content (this was supposed to be the biggest GT ever) No endurance races, laughable rewards for custom races, way too easy gold in licenses, no rewards for silvers... I could go on. I just dont care, I played GT 1,2,3,4,5,sport,7 If someone loves sport then i guess its okish but **** me for a numbered GT with this much time in oven... I just. I literally play GT4 again just to cleanse my eyes. I ****ing love GT series but **** me...
this is my mood in past couple of years.

I got the game pre-ordered without having any high expectations, so I wouldn’t say the game is disappointing I just personally don’t get the urge to play it. I’m finding the game hilariously boring, and most importantly I don’t feel like I’m racing, just driving random cars and passing through traffic with lame ffb at that. So personally I wouldn’t even know if I will ever complete it, maybe in a year or so, but as mentioned, at the moment I’m not feeling like even playing it as it does not give me any positive emotions I usually get from playing racing games.

I won't be as eager to jump into the next installment, is all. I'll wait for the reviews, wait a couple of weeks, read actual gamers experiences, then make my decision rather than just loyalty to the series influencing my purchase. In fairness I do that with most 'new releases', I just didn't ever think Gran Turismo would do me dirty.

It's to the point where I'm expecting things to get worse, rather than better. Personally, I think "faith" is too strong a word now, considering PD/Kaz have been strumming to their own tune, cordoned off somewhere since GT5. They refuse to look at the older games in their own franchise, let alone what the competition is doing.

So, to answer the question, whether I think faith is too strong a word or not: yes? I said to myself after GT Sport, that I wouldn't jump on the next installment until reviews were out. I was pulled in on the premise that GT7 was a return to series norms, when it isn't even a return to the end state of GT Sport. Suffice to say, that won't happen next time.

No not quite yet.Going to give it a chance,i love the game but im certainly not a diehard gt fan who refuses to see anything wrong with the game, lack of content etc.Oh yeah, thats right we can make custom races to earn next to nothing aftet weve finished the menus,no exp cars for me then!why didnt i think of that.lol
Some people have a blinkered view of the game and refute any critism at the game but thats there choice.Like i said i do genuinely enjoy the game but the new content and higher payouts, which some people are adamant the current payouts are fine, cant come soon enough for me.
It is possible to like and play the game and also to be critical of the game,i just try and see the bigger picture.👍

Dear Kaz, why have you abandoned us?

Here's my question for the GTPlanet community, does GT7 represent the end of the road for you? If not, how badly has your faith been shaken in the franchise and do you trust PD to restore the series to its former glories?
GT Sport was the end of the road for me, as I have not and probably will not, be buying GT7.

My faith in the franchise was slowly eroded over many years, even starting as far back as GT4, and I don't think there is anything that PD could do that will makle GT a game that I would want to play again. They have their 'vision' for what they want their game to be, I have my preferences for what I like in a game, and those two things are most definitely not a match.

However, I still really enjoy seeing what other GTP'ers are getting out of the photomode in GT7, especially on PS5, and am a big fan of the realistic shots thread.

Dear Kaz, why have you abandoned us?
He simply followed the path that pretty much all mainstream devs/publishers have taken. They simply see games as investments. A get-rich-quick scheme to land more in the coffers of the shareholders while simultaneously bleeding money from consumers by releasing half-baked, half finished products with bluster of "road maps" further down the line that may not even come to fruition.

Most mainstream game makers simply see consumers nowadays as walking bank machines and so deliberately design games to be as grindy as possible, constantly drip feed content so those who do buy the products are never bored. They want consumers to commit to their product like its a job. Playing for fun for quick periods of time has been discarded as being bad for business.

I've done with GT. Bought a brand new PS5 and GT7 the day before the infamous update that nerfed the payouts. The way PD designed the game around MTX was the nail in the coffin for me. That update and the ridiculous Kaz's statement just after it made me lose all faith in this franchise.
I am not saying the game is bad, and I still believe it has a great future ahead for GT7.
Anyway, I think the whole gaming industry is dying.

I have to admit day by day i've played less and less. I just log on in the evening, do a few laps of the Blue Moon circuit to grind some credits, check the UCD which doesn't update and barely bother to check the Legendary dealership because I know I won't be able to afford anything apart from the Nissan. Bored is an understatement at the moment

So I booted up GT7 yesterday and checked the Legendary Car Dealership. Spotted the Mercedes 300 SL for sale at a little over a million and thought this would be something worth grinding for. But then having completed the Menu Books with only a smattering of events left to complete, I just thought I can't be bothered engaging with this pointless grind anymore. Racing the same event for meagre payouts, just to win a car there's not even an appropriate event to use it in. The GT7 experience just feels incredibly hollow and seemingly rather pointless.

I think a lot of us would agree the last few months have been a very trying time as a Gran Turismo fan. I've been playing the series since 2000 and have always admired and respected the work of Polyphony Digital. GT4 represented the absolute pinnacle of the series, only for a steady decline to occur with subsequent instalments. However the brand damage done by GT7 has seriously shaken my faith in the developer. I no longer believe Kaz and his team are capable of creating a compelling "game" any more. Don't get me wrong, the "feel" of GT, the driving in itself, is still incredible. But the "game" side is just sorely lacking and hopelessly outdated. Unlike Sport mode, the PVE experience is woefully unsatisfying with no sense of competition thanks to it's hopelessly outdated chase the rabbit AI.

Personally I feel like I've reached a bit of a turning point with the series. I've just lost faith with the franchise having been repeatedly disappointed with recent instalments. Why is it so hard for PD to create a compelling campaign mode? If PD actually communicated with their community they would know what their audience demanded. I feel like a lot of the fans on GTPlanet understand what it is that makes a truly great Gran Turismo game. If only PD could be bothered to listen and take their opinions into consideration.

As much as I respect Kaz for all that he's done with GT as a franchise, I think it's time he passed the reins on to a new generation of developers. Either within Polyphony or further afield. Imagine what Evolution Studios could have done for example, given their excellent work on Drive Club. The series needs a fresh start and new perspectives to move forward. Otherwise the goodwill the brand has built up over the last 25 years will continue to be exhausted if the disappointments continue.

Here's my question for the GTPlanet community, does GT7 represent the end of the road for you? If not, how badly has your faith been shaken in the franchise and do you trust PD to restore the series to its former glories?

Personally I'll be taking a break from the franchise but will continue to keep an eye on things hoping for positive developments. Whether PD can restore my faith is another question entirely, but the fact is I simply don't think they're capable of fixing an inherently broken and downright boring game.
My faith isn't damaged in the least. And I'm loving the game.

I've definitely lost a bit of faith. Put simply I was really looking forward to GT7 for the single player and I thought completing the game would be really fun but it's just not that good. I keep trying to be positive and find reasons to play but now I've finished about half of it I just can't be bothered. I'll still race online but for me that side of it hasn't stepped up much from gt sport. Hopefully updates will make it better but my faith has definitely been shaken.

Someone here considering a game that took 9 years to be released (the timeline between GT6 and GT7) ... was "rushed".

No... It wasn't rushed. It was simply, not cleverly I may add, intentional to be that way.

PD has stopped caring about a game being fun for it's playerbase to just being a business, and as soon as a developer starts thinking like that, it's pretty much their downfall from there.

It started with GT5 and it's only gotten worse since then.

And don't rely on these "miracle" updates to fix the game. Those are just empty promises for now, exactly like how "GT7 was going to be closer to the past games" marketing.

My faith has been damaged since GT5 and 6. Sport was supposed to start making things right again and now we're right back at square one with GT7.
Hell, I'd take GT6's career mode with glee at this point. Thought it was just a cash-grab at the time (well, still do...) but at least we had a massive car selection, they were staying current with new cars as they came out, and that was the last time we had a large offline career mode. Plus the online challenges, etc.

It wouldn't be my ideal GT7, but just updating GT6 and bringing it to PS5 would be exponentially better than what we have now.

@CoenRSD I know PD/KAZ SAYS they are going to fix it, but unless they were just sitting on IB/IA/S races and events to drip-feed in the hopes no one would notice 3/5 of the game was missing (lol) I don't see them releasing enough content in time to tide people over.
I guess we'll find out in the next week or two, but my guess is they add 3-5 races, a couple cars, and do a mediocre job of rebalancing the economy. That is going to make a lot of people bail if true; the casual, non-Sport mode players aren't going to stick around for a year while they get this game into the state it should have been a month ago. So honestly, I'm hoping they were holding content back to drip-feed, otherwise there's no point in even logging in until this time next year.

The next GT will be a wait and see. I bought GT Sport for $19 after 2 years and I wish I did the same with GT7.

GT3, GT4, GT5 releases were like Christmas day to me. But that's not how I see GT any more. It's a series that needs a lot of updates to become a finished game. The talk about making this a more single player focused game but then giving half the content (if even that ) of GT Sport was eye opening. My faith is damaged. I also have little faith in this upcoming update.

I haven't bought GT7 yet a month after its release. For what is supposed to be my favorite video game franchise.
I'm just tired of waiting for a complete game with months or years of updates. So few events, so many stupid decisions for a 2022 game like the rally mode with indestructible plastic barriers or no 360 degrees camera view. I just don't care like I used to for a GT game. Tbh, I'm not very optimistic for the future of this studio.

I mean... yeah? And Sony as a whole.

It's no coincidence Sony wants to move to live service games and we get this disaster of a release, combining all of the worst aspects of games as a service.

The game wasn't rushed. They had time. The content that will come later as updates? It's almost certainly done, right now. At least most of it.

We do know for sure that there's more races that were cut from release so they can be added later. Those races aren't hard to make, the hardest part would be figuring out how far to spread out the AI that the player will chase.

The absolute lack of anything new being introduced is not a coincidence. It's not the result of a rushed game. The only way it could be is if Polyphony were entirely incompetent developers, and they're not.

We were knowingly sold an unfinished game that was promised to be the most complete GT experience. They knew what they were doing, they knew what they were selling, they knew they were lying to us. Because telling us this is the most complete GT experience is a lie. It's objectively false, and they know that.

Add on the insane MTX and grind, and there's absolutely no doubt they knew what they were doing.

It's disgusting. And I'm not making this mistake again.

GT Sport killed my interest to be honest. At launch it was... bare. Not much to do after Circuit Experience. Made me lose interest for a good 3 years till I started playing GT5 again.

As GT7 approached I quickly changed my pre-order from the Anniversary Edition to just a normal copy - just in case we got burned again.
...that was a good choice.

The game plays fantastically well, there's just nothing to do after a month other than Custom Races (which I do love) and Sport. It definitely came out far too soon. I've enjoyed what I've played, but it's unacceptable that it has been released the way it has.
In 4-5 months, yeah, it'll probably be a whole lot better, much like Sport ended up being.
But that's months too late for most.

Given the hype I expected a lot more. Sport mode is still quite fun, but I keep getting this itch to play something better. I just feel disconnected from the road in this game and the cars thus all feel a bit floaty in a way. Like it's not terrible, but when I boot up some other acclaimed sim it's like night and day difference.

But outside of Sport mode, only the red chilli races are actually semi fun racing. Yeah, there are the license tests, missions, and CE, but I just wanna race man, and for a racing game, it seems pretty lacking.

Major content updates aren’t coming in a week or two because it wasn’t ready. Their response to the outrage said improving rewards and adding 8 endurance race missions in beginning of april.

Adding more world circuit events, 24 hour races, or selling cars were no date items coming later. I’d even just take a quick copy pasted GT Sport cups that had like 300 races.

Despite the recent controversy, I still have faith in GT7 and the GT series a whole. GT5 and 6 both started off pretty lackluster, but got better as time passed and updates were released. Earning money in those games was very grindy at first, but as time progressed we got more and more (seasonal) events that paid plenty of credits. I'm confident that GT7 will get the same type of improvements and then some.

What I have lost faith in, however, is the gaming industry as a whole. More and more developers are becoming too comfortable with releasing unfinished, buggy games and it's sickening.
I know not every developer follows these practices, but it's still concerning how more and more are catching on and thinking that it's okay to do these things.
I still believe that PD/Kaz never wanted shady microtransactions in there game in the first place, but were pressured by Sony to implement them. It's tough to say without hard evidence, though.
I'm still having fun playing GT7, so I'm very, very curious to see what April holds for this game.

Can you actually read what I posted? I'm defending that the hame should have been released months later... It has been rushed into release.
And you not being able to drive or tune some cars is irrelevant
Nah, it has not been rushed into release. It was released purposely like this. Drip feeding content is what live service does. It works fine when content is actually prepared and released with progress in mind. What is being done here is withholding content to release later and create the appearance of progress. True progress would be continuously changing up the races, tracks and cars for all of the events to keep them fresh. Adding new wheels, cars, body modifications, tracks, cars and decals are also great options. This is fake progress.

Oh, I know... lol. Just saying hypothetically I'd rather find out they had all of the offline content made and were just holding it back even if it looks shady as hell, but it's quite apparent they just thought they could toss a beta/early access game out and finish it later.

As for a copy/paste of Sport's career mode, yeah, I'd take that for sure. They copied/reused so much form Sport that it already feels like Sport with better tuning, so why not add the races so people have something to do? Baffling decisions all around.

Hell, if they would just fix the PP bug so that Sport could start having tuning races again it would at least be SOMETHING, but as it stands I'm so sick of Sport and the BoP system where the only cars worth a damn are the Gr. 3 RCZ and Gr. 4 Atenza. Then those will get nerfed and it'll be two different cars that are seconds faster per lap than everything else. I trust the players to add more variety with tuning than I trust PD's "tuning".

At this point I'm just grinding out credits afk to buy cars I'll want to use in 2024 when the game is somewhat complete. I'll never buy a GT game until it's at least a year old and on sale for $25 or less from now on.
