Your faith in Gran Turismo - has it been permanently damaged?

As for online, I went from avg 13 sport races a day to most days without a single one.
Your tracks haven't come up yet in Daily. Nurb Spa, Bathurst.... They've been pushing some of the new ones at the start. Could be a part of it.

Use the championships for grinding...the payout is similar, but it is much more fun!
Already got very bored with them, payout is worse, Windmills is sub 4 minutes for 60K, so rather just go for the most efficient way. At least the wonky rally physics keep me from nodding off and you can't lose the CRB on rally. WTC 800 takes an hour and is only 600K with all CRB.

I'm saving the championship grind until after the update. PD said they would double the payouts for those.

@O604 True, but I used to race every track a lot before I lost faith. I've retreated to just racing a few tracks after PD gave up on the penalty SR/DR system. Spa is on this week, maybe it can ignite the spark in me again. Probably not, since I need to grind in case a GR.C car shows up. I'm close to 0 credits again after getting the Chaparral for an endurance tonight or tomorrow.

I still believe that PD/Kaz never wanted shady microtransactions in there game in the first place, but were pressured by Sony to implement them.
If that were the case every Sony first party title would be littered with them, it's not. Oh and it's time for this one again...

Sony charge 70 to avoid MXTs.jpg

...it seems Kaz didn't get the same note that Santa Monica Studios did!

Take this as some sort of an early access
I've bought into a number of early access titles, they all had two thing sin common. They explicitly stated they were early access, and they never charged full RRP.

You shouldn't expect an early access experience when you purchase a full price, first party title, that advertised itself as a complete title.

So no, I'm not going to take it as some sort of early access, I'm going to take it as products that was misleadingly advertised despite it's full price AAA title status.

The elephant in the room is that the game wasn't designed with just the hardcore players who literally sometimes took a week off work and blew through the entire game in the first month. There will be monthly updates with new cars, tracks, races etc and for the 95% of players that haven't beaten every race so far it will be a dessert being brought to the table while they are still nibbling on their appetizers.

I think you significantly underestimate how little patience the casual players of GT7 will have with regard to the lack of content, a look at the trophy list completions for even basic stuff clearly demonstrates that.

GTS has significantly more single player content than GT7 does, yet 85%+ didn't even bronze all the Circuit Experiences, 65% never reached Level 15, nearly 25% never even completed a daily marathon!

The casual players you seem to be resting you're hope on are not the ones who are going to be waiting for PD to sort this out at all, and it's not because they are stretching it out over time. The majority of casual players will be done and gone within weeks, it's retaining and growing the long-term players that needed, and what PD have suffered (at there own hands) in the first month will have damaged that. It's not even up for debate that they have damaged that, the evidence is here at GTP to see, the only question is the degree of damage.

Honestly the last titles in the genre that suffered from this degree of backlash (actually less than this in terms of wider gaming media exposure) were NASCAR Ignition and PC3, and to say it did significant damage to the studios involved and their reputation would be a colossal understatement.

Then you, frankly, are out to lunch. Because from where I'm standing, the only thing Polyphony seems to care about when it comes to end over end improvements from game to game is graphical might. And sure, while GT7 is clearly a PS4 game uprezzed to 4K natively, that is about the least of Polyphony's problems, and focusing on that as what needs to be fixed is equivalent to lipstick on a pig.

Who says this?

95% of people have already beaten the game because there is absolutely nothing to do outside of the very narrow wheelhouse that is 'grinding Fishermans Ranch in order to get any sort of high end vehicle to have fun with' and because there is actual little to do even as you go through the game. And to those that are fans and read the tea leaves, they can see, very clearly, that the 'monthly updates' are simply going to be adding in the menus that would have made the game feel like it actually have an ending.

Great bit of good will guys. And the micro-transactions aren't still removed and exercised.

The casual players you seem to be resting you're hope on are not the ones who are going to be waiting for PD to sort this out at all
And if anything, they already had their fill because those 'casual players' treat the game as a rolling tech demo. Who'd want to stick around to a game that has absolutely toxic word of mouth, is absolutely bereft of content out the box (with no guarantee that the game will even live up to it's promise a year, a year and a half later) and is rife with absolutely moronic design choices and an endless loop of problems that either go back to a poor gameplay loop, or stem from rampant micro-transaction monetization?

No. But then I never really had any faith in PD anyway. I believe all of these gaming companies are all about the money. I enjoy the GT7 but I understand where I stand with PD and I don't expect much from them
That's exactly how I treat that whole situation...

I'll never put any kind of faith or trust in any commercial enterprise or a company...not just gaming companies but pretty much all companies are just about making money and making profits...accept those facts and you won't get disappointed because of that

You continue to baffle. Why on earth wouldn't people be right to criticise and be disappointed in a "work in progress", a "rushed release", when it wasn't advertised as such? It's like you're so close to understanding by correctly realising the issues with the game, but then so far away. Are you actually reading back what you're writing and hearing how absurd it sounds?

"These people were sold a work in progress product, a rushed release, when they were told it was something else, why are they mad?"

There is a different between not being negative in advertising and straight up misleading. If they wanted to sell this as a "sort of early access" then it should have been sold as such, not as "the most complete Gran Turismo to date". That's just straight up misleading, not simply masking negativity.

You don't buy a house advertised as a complete build fully furnished and then just accept it when it turns out the back walls are missing and the furnishing is only downstairs. "Oh, well it seems this is just a work in progress house. This is fine!"
Vent your frustration to PD, not me. Lol
Try send a letter to Kaz and tell you hate him

Thats why I said "some sort of". It is lilke an early access, without saying it is, and at full price. In other words, a rushed release.
Similar to what happened to Cd Projekt Red and Cyberpunk

This is a discussion forum, if you don't want a discussion then this is the wrong place to be.

If you post a comment, expect members to reply to it!

So what you actually seem to mean is 'unfinished mess' that's sold deceptively at full price!

You can't merge posts, use the +quote tool instead, it allows you to select all the posts you want to reply to and then put them all in the reply box ready for you.

What you dont expect though, is some people mistaking you for some PD staff

Yeah, like most games on beta stage or early access, they are usually unfinished messes.
I'm a big fan of online lobbies and right now they're so obviously "beta stage" and they're such a half made mess its not even funny

The fact that the game is an "uprezzed PS4 title" makes me believe they don't care too much about the "graphical might" (outside of the cars of course) either, coupled with the fact that they've been using the same tech since Gran Turismo 5 it's become unacceptable. The environmental visuals need a nice buff along with all the other problems you and others here have mentioned for sure.

Weathertech looks like Gran Turismo 4's version of Laguna Seca running on a PCXS2 emulator at max settings, not a good look.

Yes for me. Considering I was about to buy a PS5 just for gt7 and had already bought the pre order game, the whole fiasco made me lose my urgency to play the game so I have held off from buying a PS5 (and all the supporting peripherals) entirely. Maybe until I see some actual improvements, not just lip service.

Come on guys, yes it's unfinished, yes there's plenty of room for improvement, but it's not the only game on the planet.

I'm enjoying it and looking forward to it getting better and better.

Some of yku sound like you've been sitting there for years, doing nothing but waiting for it's release. Or that PD, Kaz, Sony etc have just killed your parents.

It's not ideal, but ways of making it enjoyable imo. But appreciate bot everyone is the same.

If GT is p1ssing you off so much, put it aside until its fleshed it more, play some other quality games or do some other stuff.

Fair points are being raised by many, but some of you come across like it's seriously p1ssed you off/had a big effect on your life. Can't be healthy for you surely.

I love video games, so don't mean to belittle it, but it is just a game ultimately. And like I say, plenty of others to delve into to keep you entertained.

We're at a point now where graphical improvements are nowhere near where they were from 2D to full 3D, or even 3D to HD. And as much as it has become a joke around here, no one gives a **** about trees other then as fuel for fanboy pissing matches.

So considering the fact that Polyphony already scrapped every Premium model from GT5 and 6 because they weren't good enough, why do we need more improvements onto graphics when the real problems are more noticeable then graphics, and have been ignored for just as long?

All you are doing with graphics (which Polyphony has been intent on doing) is keeping up with the Joneses. Meanwhile, the AI has no discernable improvement since GT4, arguably. I know where Polyphony should direct most of their resources towards.

This is basically you arguing. Circling around a few pivot points and brow beating anyone who points out how utterly circular you're being.

Considering it's been nearly a decade since a classic style of GT had been released before GT7, that's not a outlandish thing to think.

Already have. Playing through Assetto Corsa and having more fun then I ever had playing GT7.

Sorry for offtopic but do you recommend AC or ACC first. I've just bought ACC today (ps5), but can get AS for free as part of ps sub.

My point re waiting years, is as in sitting there doing almost nothing else, pinning your hopes on one game.

I've bought games and been disappointed. Just shrug my shoulders and move onto something else. Although obviously has benefits people voicing their feelings to some degree. But samevpeople over and over again, just makes me wonder sometimes...

You are blind and using hyperbole. New laguna seca is much better than older versions. GT7 is the best looking racing game out now, apart from fully maxed out ACC on PC (Some tracks). I have both GT7 and FH5 and GT7 looks better by a margin on an OLED. Playing on the PS5 and the XSX performance mode respectively.

The hyperbole on GTPlanet is awful and as disappointing as PD's mistakes. Graphics are an area that is by no means at fault for PD. Much more important problems elsewhere.

The game is not an uprezzed PS4 title, it's more like a Low vs Ultra preset, plus, it's a cross-gen game that needs to run at 60fps on the PS4, that is Sony's decision, not PD's. GT7 graphics are more than fine and I challenge one to show me a better looking racing game on console, I have all means to play it...

Its positives far outweigh the negatives IMO. GT5 was the low point for me atleast.
The positives far outweigh the negatives???

I would really like you to elaborate on this.

Other than the physics and dynamic weather, and a few near irrelevant gimmicks (photo mode), there really isn't much to brag about this game, and certainly not to the point that far outweighs the negatives it has.
But of course, you can enlighten me right?

The series has gone downhill since GT4, its been plagued by delays and false promises.

I want to get GT7, even with current issues because I know it will get better. But overall this has been my GT experience, delays, false promises, more Japanese cars (thats a given), tons of missing American cars (duhhhh obvi!!), redundant GTR's, lol, this is the GT experience!

This series has made me learn to embrace other games/consoles. Because of Kaz, I got into Forza, bought an xbox because of it too. We gotta thank him and PD and Sony for dropping the ball consistently on these games otherwise we wouldn't have ventured off to try other games on different consoles.
Your first statement is absolutely spot on. Constant downhill since GT4.

About the game having considerably more japanese cars than other contries, it's because PD is a japanese company and they have the licenses to pretty much any relevant japanese manufacturer, and also because it's in Japan, they have an easier time getting to model the japanese cars.
I won't mind having more japanese cars than the rest, since in terms of volume, they have a lot of charm and have lots of fans even outside of Japan.
What I find inexcusable is for example, a car like the C8 Corvette, Lexus LFA (a japanese car of all things) or the 918 Spyder not being in the game at launch, or having irrelevant VGTs and Gr. cars that any of us could've just made in GT Auto and Livery Editor instead of of PD making them actual cars for sale in the Dealers...

As for Forza... Motorsport never quite was like Gran Turismo, but it sure as hell has been learning from it's mistakes and doesn't have nearly as many flaws as Gran Turismo. I in fact have always wanted an Xbox just for this game alone, but considering it's literally the only game I would ever play in Xbox (since most of it's exclusives are crap, lets be honest), I just couldn't waste 500$ on it.

Forza Horizon however is a different story... It's a literal arcade racing game, in no way comparable to Gran Turismo, and most people who like these types of games tend to not like the approach something like Gran Turismo has to racing since it's closer to a sim than to an arcade and has a vastly different career mode. Forza Horizon is more like a Need For Speed... I personally stay away from those types of games but I understand how many people can enjoy them.

Well someone on the other week was adamant project cars 2 was much better looking... :D

In terms of replay looks, Gran Turismo 7 is in fact almost on a league of it's own. Borderline photorealistic, I can't see games getting much more improved than this unless the resolutions change dramatically.

However... That's it... Just on Replays and Scape (Photo) Modes...
Why is the game not on this magnificent setting DURING GAMEPLAY??
Because during gameplay, I notice even some shadows jagged, and this is coming from a PS5. Why can't we not have the option to play the game at the maximum quality even if you don't get fixed 60 fps? This for me is another stupid problem PD created yet again.

Must admit, although graphics in game are dececent enough, personally a bit underwhelmed by them. Was expecting better for a AAA PS5 title tbh. 3 out 5. Have to wonder about many of the gushing reviews around graphics. I yhouggt they looked average from the pre release videos, whilst many seemed to be creaming themselves over them :D

Just about met my minimum expectations for inplay graphics.was expecting something truly eye opening, next gen.

(I'm running a top of range new Samsung 4k neo, so not like display is the weak link).

It has the best custom race creator so far in a GT game...that for me does actually outweight a lot of the negatives...

It doesn't outweight the poor pay-outs, the MTXs and the whole economy-situation, but for me it does defenitly outweight the lack of single player content because it gives me the tool to create my own single player content...and I hope this custom race generator will be improved in the future, cause as good as it is, there is still lots of space to make it better...

And you mentioned some cars that are missing, but that is just a question if personal taste...I miss none of the cars you listed, but quite a few from the period between 1960 and 1980

Can you not think just about yourself for a moment please?
I am talking about the general fanbase, the 3 cars I listed have ENOURMOUS fanbases and are 3 cars that have named themselves known in the history of the car.
I myself also would like more 60s and 80s cars, I have quite a few of them on my mind as well. But that's not the point I was trying to make.

Also yes, the custom races is a very nice feature (forgot about it tbh). But with beyond terrible AI, and shockingly bad payouts, they are just another slap in the face.

Jesus, do you get triggered when I objectively call out the flaws this game has? You seem to try to defend almost everything about this game. Are you a paid Sony apologist? (rethorical question)

Can you please speak for yourself and don't pretend to speak for the "general fanbase" ?

Because you are just the user "Grimm6Jack" and nobody designated or appointed you to speak for the whole fanbase...so please don't act as you are the ambassador of that "enourmous fanbases" since yo ain't...(and thats exactly the reason why I think about myself and why I post my opinions here because, I don't have to make myself bigger than I actually am)

I see flaws, but I don't get permanently triggered by them and repeat them over and over and over again...and please accept, that different people see different flaws in the game...what is a major flaw to some might be a minor disappointment to someone else and vice versa...

Not only in Gran Turismo but also in Sony, I always bought PlayStation because I liked Gran Turismo. It also wasn't clear to me that this was a live game as a service, so I expected to play a game similar to the old style GT games. Now with most of the other games offering crossplay there is not much tying you to the Playstation ecosystem. If this mess is the direction they are heading with there other live services it is not a good sign.
