I don't really have an issue. When I played the demo, I found myself using the chase camera where it shows the back of your car. Even if I decided to use the Bentley Speed 8 over the Pegeot 908 LMP, I don't think the no cockpit issue will bother me as much as others.

Okay, I want to see that more tracks will have night racing[and some weather], but still, we get night racing, weather, and rally compared to Forza 3, which while it has Sebring, more cockpits, and big amounts of customization, we still get HD nighttime and weather for racing. [And who doesn't love to race in a game at night?]

No. Its simply the fact that you entering this thread solely to bitch about the thread still being open has gotten rather annoying. Which is all the more odd, because I thought you were supposed to be done with it. Play a different tune, please.

LOL. It's still a free forum. ;) Just ignore my posts. They don't have to get to you. Plus I have only made 4 posts about how old and tired this thread is (and even in the midst of that FACT, I still have made other posts in this thread BESIDES those) way to twist the evidence 👍 It's not the ONLY reason I come to this thread, but in my opinion it's still worthless now. That's why I really don't care if I contribute to things that are a little off topic in this thread. BECUASE IT'S USELESS AT THIS POINT. Until the game is released, nothing new is going to make an appearance in this thread, and everything that people are talking about now has already been covered at least once, if not 4 to 5 times already.

Man captures a butterfly in a jar.
Man wants the butterfly to die.
Few days later he finds the butterfly is still alive and puts a hole to the lid.
Few days later he wonders why the butterfly isn't dead and adds another hole.
Few days later he adds another.
Few more days go by and the butterfly still lives so he decides to feed it.
Few days go by and he again wonders why it's not dead and feeds it again.
Moral of the story is that it's a damn stupid story, just like the man.
Guess who that man reminds people of?

Me? :)

EDIT: BTW Don't appreciate being called stupid. I understand it is somewhat of an oxymoron that I think that this thread is useless, but it doesn't annoy me because I know that this thread ISN'T going anywhere, pretty much ever. So whenever a subject arrises here that does interest me, I comment on it.

Whats up Red I played the GT5 Demo man. The physics are serious bro! I drove every car man  Im so happy today, never expected to play it today.

Nice. There isn't a demo down here in Chattanooga TN. So I haven't gotten to play it, I would love to though. Nice to hear though, makes me even more excited. Been playing Uncharted 2 to pass the time.

Dang that sucks man, I didn't know I had one so close to me its like 3min away from me. I'm going tomorrow after i drop my little girl off at school. The way I played it was crazy though, because I was with my friend getting NBA 2K11. I asked the Game Stop guy was there going to be a midnight release and he said yea. Then out of nowhere he asked me did I want to play the GT5 Demo. I was hyped I told him hell yea. I was on it for 30 min man it was so damn good. So much Better than GT5P. The sense of speed and cockpit vibration/camera vibration is immersible. The Ring Is scary as hell though so bumpy and fast I drove the Stingray on the Ring. I drove every car. My favorite car was the Autech GT-R so smooth and fast! The Nascar was hard as hell to drive Man took a long time to get it pumping. The Motor sound good but the tranny wine was very loud. Those Nascar are fast as hell though cant wait to test it out with the G27 👍

I would think upon game release, people will then have their own hands on experience with this issue and this thread will then become very much alive in comparing quality, differences in the physics engines & other issues between the two classes that might not have been debated yet. :)
Very true. I want to come here and see all the chatter about the Standards, and if any minds have been changed. This will definitely be a relevant thread when we have GT5 to examine for ourselves.

Apart from the fact that standards will not have cockpit view and have less detail visually than premium vehicles, is their any other differences we know about?

Trust me man when you feel how connected the cars are to the road you will be very pleased! I played in cockpit mode and bumper cam. I love cockpit view however the driving alone is so damn good IMO it did not matter what view I had it on it was so fun man in both views the camera shake is so much better! 👍

As long as the standards don't look sub par for this gen of games, and they get the same sort of gameplay related details as the premium (ie. car painting, modifications etc), then I don't really care about the other differences. I like the chase cam anyways.

Love your hands-on, JDMKING. I really enjoy Prologue, and even GT4, but they do feel a little mushy, especially after playing the Time Trial demo. And many who have made themselves intimately familiar with the TT say that GT5 is a step or two better. I'm really looking forward to giving my life up to this game for days and days in November.

Oh by the way, roofcam yes! 👍

TD I was so amazed by how the cars felt on the track Its so different from GT5P. I told another member that, the controller did not have vibration and still controlled the car easily. Not to sound stupid but when you turn it feels so damn real like your really turning. I felt the TT demo was to harsh for DS3 users however this not the case for GT5 demo. This connection is very good so I can imagine how spoiled wheel users will be. 👍

Edit I also noticed when the driver hit the paddles to shift gears he brought hes hand back very fast, not like the other videos I have seen.

Seriously? I thought the whole M$ and $ony thing was funny.....20 years ago. 👎

I should've been more clear that I wasn't serious, just (accurately) predicting what kind of members would post afterwards...

Well for all the negativity displayed in and about this thread it at least still is the sole place where this issue can be discussed indepth instead of it infiltrating each unrelated topic in other threads.
It's proven to be insightful to me on some occasions and can still provide it to those wanting to find out more I guess if they can be bothered to dig through all opinions and filter out the relevant stuff.
If not, it can still be the place to ask questions or ventilate your opinion about this subject and its implications.
I do agree that most relevant issues have already been discussed and all possible opinions probably already heard perhaps but why should it therefore have to "die"?
I think this thread will actually survive at least until GT6 ( yes GT6 ) arrives as a lot of new members will probably revive it once GT5 is released.
It won't die ( unless it's locked for whatever reason ) anytime soon is my prediction, as the issue won't magically disappear once we witness it in the game for better or worse.
It's a lingering beast possibly on life-support for a while, but it will be back if it ever went away that is ( which it won't I believe ).

Yeah, I don't see why this thread needs to die anytime soon unless the console war talk overtakes it permanently. It's titled "thoughts about"... members are definitely going to have more thoughts on the two tiers once they actually can try them out themselves. And new members down the road who buy the game a few months (or years) after release, who don't know what is very common knowledge for us. This thread has all the info in one location. It's better than discussion of the topic spilling out into other threads.

I wish a freaking demo was available around here, just to get an idea of what to expect. Any luck with that Standards video, JDM?

Yea slip I went back and saw it Its still up. As soon as I get my camera from my bro I got you I really want you to see this! Yea I wish you had a demo of GT5 Slip its amazing man the only thing that sucks is I Have to use X and square for my acceleration and deceleration ughh.. so sometimes my inputs are not smooth. I drove every car I had alot of fun with the rally also feels a lot better than GT4 👍

I'm looking forward to the Rally too. I was a little nervous when a couple of reviewers who schooled themselves on Richard Burns Rally tried it at E3 and said it was quite slippery on gravel. But it does seem like PD has been fine tuning the game all along, so most likely I'll be happy with the Rally syde ;) when I get my feet wet.

Thanks for the hands on preview. I envy you.

After seeing some videos, it seemed GT5 has the sense of speed down. Care to elaborate on that a bit? Was it that much better?:)

Yea man that was the 1st thing I notice. I have been playing GT5P heavy for the past weeks so when I played the GT5 demo The sense of speed was so much better. It just felt smoother man, and I think thats why It felt so fast. When your in your car you can feel the car get faster and faster as the engine revs up in RPM. Very different from GT5P. I told other members before, the Ring is serious man I couldn't believe how nervous I was. I was in the Stingray flying man saying to my self "Damn I have to slow down." From the cockpit shaking from the bumps on the track it is very hard to stay focus on your line. Racing online on this track is going to be epic bro trust me. Also the track elevation changes are very noticeable, unlike in GT5P. PD did a excellent Job making the gamer feel as if they are really driving up hill/down hill. Every car I drove felt unique for example The Nascar takes a bit to get started but when it does It is fast as hell how ever Its not very turn happy  My favorite car was the Autech GT-R felt so damn fast and smooth. My favorite production car was the 458, this car felt like a monster bro. When that power kicks in Oh baby. I drove in bumper cam and cockpit, and honestly both views were fun as heck because the driving experience is so damn good! We are in store for a big treat!

After experience the physics I have to say I am very glad PD decided to put those 800 standard cars in the game. Yes I wish they where all premium and had cockpit views, but what i'm really happy about is how damn good the game felt. The driving experience we will get with these 1000 cars is going to be tons of fun for years 👍

Hello I have a question. Do we know if the standard cars will have the same quality tire/rim models as the premiums? I believe so, but has it been confirmed?

A very good question. I wouldn't be surprised if the rim quality is made to Premium level and therefore quite possibly as many pixels per rim as the standard cars themselves are made from. It might look a bit odd having four wheels of premium quality on a standard car, so surely the old rim selection will be there for standards.

Man, that gets me really anxious to play this game. I really want to experience the feel the of the cars now at faster speeds once you begin accelerating.

When it comes to the different camera views, could you still feel the speed differences with the bumper cam? It's the view I have used with all GT games with the exception of GT5P, so I am curious to see how this new sense of speed applies to the standard cars.

That's impressive if you felt the danger from the track. Would you say that GT5 captures the Ring better then any game prior? Based off your description it sounds as if the Ring in itself will be a mini-game all in itself.

Bring it on.:)

When it comes to going up hill, could feel the strain on the engine in where it was noticeable? If so, amazing!!

The NASCAR machines are one of things I look forward to most in GT5. Not necessarily taking them around the ovals (I plan on eagerly doing that though) but driving those machines on Trail Mountain and Laguna Seca for example.

I really look forward to checking out the tuning section on the NASCARS, and turning them into a something more then an oval monster.

I have yet to experience the game as you have, but I am already glad that the standard cars in GT5. There are countless cars in GT4 that I can't wait to re-experience in GT5. Sure, I would have wanted them Premium, but alas, oh well.

Thanks for reporting your experience to GTPlanet!!:)

Yes Its the same for bumper cam I test those 2 views out because those are the views Im going to be using also I wanted to get a preview on how its going to feel driving the standard cars. Yes the ring is the best In GT5 man Its so damn bumpy. The camera is constantly shaking its a great experience. You will have many battle with that track from the bumpiness, high speed thrill and focus to run the best line. I will be going back to day for at least an hour will give you more info when i get back 👍

Edit So I went back to GameStop and played the GT5 Demo for 2 hours( My wife was so pissed but i had to do it for the community 👍) straight I tested every car twice once in cockpit view once in bumper cam view on every track. I will repeat GT5 is going to blow our heads straight off! I'm going to step out but when I get back I will give you my Day 2 with GT5 demo Impressions.

Based on the Standard Cars video, it appears that the tire models will be the same as they were in GT4. However, I don't think we have seen anything to suggest the same holding true for the rims themselves.

So like I said I went back to Game Stop today to play some more GT5 Demo. Told the workers I was going to be playing for a while (2hours ) I will say this again the sense of speed while driving is dramatically Improved. I test drove Every car twice(cockpit view bumper view) on every track. 1st track I drove on was the RING. Folks this track is serious the elevation changes are so dramatic you have no choice but to notice the difference. It is so amazing when you are going down hill on that track Its like you can feel it. This has to be from the new camera movement. The shaking of the cockpit is very good, Just be very careful not to hit any grass or its over for you. I cant stress to you guys enough how bumpy the surface is, and with the tree shadows all over the track this can hurt your vision also. I will have to say the scariest car in the demo to drive on the Nurb has to be the ENZO. That car is a serious beast. I had S1 tires with no traction and pro physics :scared: The car cockpit shakes so damn much its a amazing, but compared to a car which I will talk about next the SLS. I am very surprise on how great this car is all around. It has power agility and great suspension. The engine note was very good IMO the best sounding car in the demo. The handling of the SLS is very sporty however not edgy, the 458 was edgy IMO but still fun. The SLS as a driver gave me more confidence pushing it to the limits vs the 458.

Edit: Rome is a sleeper track guys, Its pretty fun and challenging. What will have you off your line is the high speed braking points and the constant elevation change through out the track. Some of those turn are uneven and will disrupt your car balance if the driver is not careful with their input. This is another track that will have your cockpit shaking Alot.

One of the best experience I had with GT5 demo was driving on the rally track and experiencing the day to night transition. watching the the sky turn from day to night was amazing it really makes the driving experience a lot better. Driving at night though is going to be amazing I hope we can drive at night on all tracks it does not have to be transitional. I really enjoyed driving at night however it was extremely difficult in the beginning but after racing on it 7 times I figured out the track lay out. There was a couple of section that I loved on Tuscany, one part being when your driving up hill and its so steep it feels like its no track in front of you. and the other at night when you past some lights and tints on a good straight path 👍

What was cool also was when you watched the replays and watched driver cam. The way the driver click the paddles on the 458 looks great from that view, PD did a nice job with that. I did notice unlike the rally car he left his hand on the paddle longer, It did not bother me because you have to focus on the track.

I'm glad to see PD have addressed the peaks and troughs on the Nurburgring, hopefully then there are sections where the track disappears as you are in a dip in the track.
