Seriously are people trying to wind us up using photoshop. Surely thats not GT5 graphics.
Why would they allow cars that looked that bad into the game when they have some serious competition now in the name of fm3 which they did not have before.
If this is the case how many hardcore fans will defect to fm3 which in turn sony will suffer, surely the game has to go before a quality inspector from sony to have the stamp of approval.
Something just doesnt seem right.:nervous:

Ironically the only photoshopping we have seen so far is to patch up the uglies in pictures...

Many of the "fans" are actaully "fanboys" and won't defect for anything...

we haven't see any Advertisement announcing over 1000 cars.
Actually where I live there's nothing said at all.
Bit of an awkward game to advertise I suppose.
Hard not to sound misleading.

It seems the same complaints over and over from new people who seem to have never read a single page in this thread as if low resolution textures are breaking news....

I get it, some screen shots are just glorifying the ugly.

Hmm, I'm not a fanboy. I play the GT since GT1 and I like every part of the series. Also GT5 has very good physics, it makes the same fun like the others... the soul of GT is definitely there :D

I don't count the pixels, but I can always remember the words of Yamauchi: "I want a perfect game"
But the Low-Res Textures are not perfect and they aren't up to date in year 2010 ;)

Today I got my copy of GT. And the first thing I have recognized is the bad texture quality from standard cars,:guilty:

this is really quite bad, especially for a 2010 game, i just feel with very little effort PD could have made these cars look so much better, i could even rework some textures for them, free of charge !!

Here is a shot from GT4 not exactly the same car but close.

I've asked numerous times now for the inflammatory comments to stop and quite frankly am now more than a little tired of the good grace being ignored.

This is aimed at all members, and I have simply used this post for illustrative purposes.

Those of you whole find it incapable of discussing any game without resorting to insults and snide comments will start to find infractions sitting in PM in-boxes.

I don't care how you try and justify it, the AUP is quite clear on the matter...

AUP
You will not behave in an abusive and/or hateful manner, and will not harrass, threaten, nor attack any individual or any group.

...you will note that this applies regardless of it being targeted at an individual or group.

I'm minded to simply issue a temp ban to the next member that throws the 'fanboy' insult around, simply to try and drive home this point on the AUP to a few of you.

Argue the point, don't attack the person.

Zero-tolerance from this point out.

So for clarification, is there an acceptable term or useability for that group of people in conversation or are we to pretend that such a type of person (and the results of their actions) doens't exist?

Because it seems to me that just like the term "Troll" and "Whiner" (EDIT I will just throw in the popular "Emo) there is a group of people that fit that description and mention of their existence (wihthout directing it at a person or specific group of people) is actually a legitimate part of conversation in the same way I can use the term "Moderator" without imparting any positive or negative meaning or attack but refer to a group and it's actions.

The Kevin Butler one did say it featured a 1000 cars and it didn't make any distinction, although explaining this whole issue in the short time span of an ad (let alone the fact it wouldn't really be advertising GT5) is impossible I guess even though it would be more honest to do so, at least less emphasis on the magic 1000 number considering what it actually consists of (or not only showing Premium cars, although again showing Standard cars might not really be advertising GT5).

Yes I've seen that Deve. Not broadcast in my country though. I wouldn't have seen it if not for GTPlanet.

It is misleading. I wonder if they have adverts made describing full damage too, before toning it down and as a result decided not to air them.

Where is the GT5 water mark. Maybe its a frame buffer capture. The GT4 pic is clearly photomode. Photomode does not allow close ups and that pic has no watermark.

There is something wrong here. Standards were not meant to be seen up close evidently, what about showroom pics? I guess its not a Lod issue.

yes, it is from GT5... but that's just one pic... I took some others of the same video and they don't look that bad

Those are some well chosen angles and distances to hide the flaws, however fact is most of the time you are racing, you will be much closer to a car than that and while tight corners and exciting moments will draw your attention from such issues, there are always long stretchs of straights where you will find yourself inches from neighboring cars with little relative movement to each other just staring at them up close.

Ok now im confused, they look pretty decent for a standard car. So what did i just see with that civic.
I was really on a downer a few minutes ago after seeing the civic now im hyped again because the race car looked really ok.
WHAT IS GOING ON.

The problem is those terms are used to direct a negative connotation towards that particular group of people, whether you specify it or not. Using those terms doesn't bring anything of relevance to an actual topic and only serves to derail a thread into arguments about intentions, or motives, for someones criticisms or praises.

Just discuss the information, there isn't any need, or benefit, for bringing those terms into a post.

That's why I asked if there was an acceptable term. Just like racial insults, disalowing use of the insulting term does not remove the actual group. And if a group exists and has a noteable effect in it's existance, there are going to be times it needs to be referred to that won't necessarily be a negative connotation.

For instance we are all familiar with the n word, not saying it doens't make dark skinned people no longer exist. And if I am to say that darker skinned people have a higher genetic rate of heart disease, I am not saying anything negative about them but still need to refer to the group for a legitimate point.

You can say the opposite in the other pics too... that there are some bad chosen angles and close-ups to show the flaws :sly:

Yes, there is that miata one that I really have to question how it was done... it seems like there must have been some finagling to get it that ugly.

That said, if you look at the pics of that LMP, the ones that look ok are not the angles you will be seeing while racing, the one that looks horrible is what you will be seeing as you pretty much match speed down a long back straight or roll tight radius turn.

I kinda lost the flow of the conversation, but if you're still talking about the word fanboy, I usually go with "hardcore fans" when I'm trying not to insult anyone. I suppose you could possibly be a hardcore fan without being a fanboy, but people usually get the gist of what I'm saying.

I'm not a moderator here, so I might be overstepping my bounds, but... I can't think of any instance where you actually need to refer to any group like that while discussing content of the game. Whether someone is a fanboy, troll, whiner, etc., shouldn't matter about the information being posted. If it's something that is obviously trying to bait someone, insult, harass, etc., then report the post and let the staff deal with it. Calling people out, and addressing it while in the thread only serves the purpose of such a post; that is to derail and throw a perfectly legitimate discussion off track.

So, just report posts that you feel are inappropriate, don't reply to them, and certainly don't drag yourself down to the level of name calling, ect.
