Yea man I remember that the person who found that little Nascar info. Everyone was telling him he was wrong  In the end he was right we will just have to wait and see huh?

For the record, I dug up neither the Porsche tidbit, nor the Nascar one. Both came from threads here at GTPlanet, and I wish I knew off hand who to attribute the original finds to... but, namesake and all.

I just shared the info with the NA PSN boards, and elaborated on the theories, but thanks for the mention ;)

Earth was the one who spotted the Nascar thing.

Yeah.

*OFF-TOPIC*- JDM didn't know you live in Edison. I live in denville & work at Gamestop in Randolph so I'm not that far from you.

Yea man that is cool I just saw that, One day when we are both free we could chill and play some GT5

Oh wow, I remember noticing that when I was watching the race. But with Daytona already in the game, I figured it was obvious that NASCAR was going to be included (and it actually was somewhat included in GT2 with the Taurus' race mod being Mark Martin's car).

Also - for those saying that 9 premium NASCAR models is too much, I think you all need to realize that there are only 4 different NASCAR models; if they're all included, there will be a Chevy, Ford, Dodge, and Toyota. Then the rest of it is just made up of different paint jobs.

PD has already used race car clones (JGTC NSX/Skyline/RX-7!) to rise the car count.

That`s PD we are talking about, I wont be suprised if it turns out like this.

Yeah, but I wonder how many Skyline/NSX/350z/Rx-7 clones were added by that time.

Yes, thank God Almighty all other developers do not do that :lol::lol:

I never said something like this.

I just said that it was pretty usual in previous GT games to have almost identical cars counted as different cars.

It's sad to see PD sunken to their level really.

Well, since it is something that is in the GT series since the first game I wouldn't call it "sinkage".

Making a point of of something that is well-known praxis in the overall genre and twisting it into another minus-issue is ridiculous dear Dravonic.

What, you shold model 5 different JGTC Skylines from the scratch no matter they all use the exactly the same manufacturer-supplied chasis that is not changed a bit?

Please.

My posts have been about whether or not they are up to today's standards, not what I think of them in general. 👍
Well... I suppose once again, I stand corrected.

Just browsing the GT4 galleries here, I'm amazed at the Photoshop skills on display. Hopefully my efforts will square up well enough with the other artists here.

It's been a long time but as far as I remember, PD never was that desperate to increase their car count. In fact as Conquerer pointed out, they were actually quite modest at times. However, look at what they did with the GTPSP list. That's ridiculous. If it's not sinking, I don't know what is.

What's even more ridiculous actually, is trying to justify PD's wrongdoing with someone else's wrongdoing.

Or we could take advertised 'car counts' with the requisite grain of salt, and chalk it up to advertising bravado. They're not trying to lure us in to buying the game... The marketing department is out to get the new customers, and it's their job to talk about GT like everything is amazing, and there are no negatives.

Most of the time Kaz gets asked about the amount of cars in the game, he doesn't ever seem to be all that sure.

What does EA having a porsche licence have to do with GT not having porsches? Other non EA games have porsches too.

True, there could simply be something that Porsche demands anyone with it's brand license to do that PD isn't willing to conform to... there really hasn't been a definitive answer on the subject.

If it is due to a licensing issue with EA... I don't understand how hard it is for someone to walk in with a copy of NFS: Porsche Unleashed and then say to the licensing manager "What if I could represent your brand like this over and over and over again in my game but on a slightly smaller scale and the inclusion of other manufacturers?"

I don't understand why Porsche would continually sign their license to a company that features cars with tacky bodykits, street racing and arcade physics... instead of a franchise that respects and works with automobiles and has a fan base that is as enthused about racing as their own customers.

That video is just so awesome and disappointing at the same time since it SCREAMS Gran Turismo.

This is for me a big mystery as well. Especially now when Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini, McLaren and Bugatti are in!

Because it's the biggest selling racing game franchise and the relationship from Porsche and EA works good (and money)? Remember that there was a whole Need for Speed dedicated to Porsche.

Yes, but the point still stands that Need For Speed don't do the cars justice, compared to what PD would.

Besides, having a deal with one racing game franchise only as a car make is nothing else but ridiculous, even if it was exclusive to GT. Everyone should get a piece of the pie in my opinion.

EDIT: Take Ferrari challenge for an example. It's a whole game dedicated to Ferrari, yet Ferrari's appear in a lot of other games. In other words, dedicating a whole NFS to Porsche is not an excuse.

The trouble with microsoft and other developers/investors is they're prepared to throw tons of money at anything and everything to obtain exclusivity. While i admire sony's approach of no insentives for exclusives, I cant help but feel they missed out on something special with porsche. I'm not just saying this either but, without doubt in every racing game i played in length, a porsche was my car of choice. There's just something about them.

However there are much more fabulous cars for us to choose from as we all know. I wont be disappointed come game time, and there will always be hope for dlc as well.

Before I go, I just want to post you guys this video. I know its off topic, and you may of seen it before, but while we're on the subject of porsche, it had to be done:

Wow is this a Porsche thread now?

No its not - back on track please (or do I have to ask in a less polite manner)?

Having cars that had the same or very similar models but differing performance (as in GT 1-4) and saying they are different cars is quite different from taking 100 or so cars and copy pasting them with different badges and saying those are different cars (as in GTPSP and apparently GT5). Say what you will about Tons o' Skylines, but (with a couple of exceptions) there generally actually were differences between them when you actually drove them.

Now of course, the numbers don't really line up between GTPSP and GT5 (as GT5 would presumably have the cars from GT4 that GTPSP didn't), so grains of salt may be necessary; but then again, there is evidence that no salt will be necessary.

I wonder how many Skyline's will be premium?? It would be stupid to have 10 versions of R34 GTR and all to be premium also R35,R33 and so on... That mean that 50 premium models will be Skyline!!:scared: Also Impreca's, Evo's, NSX and RX7...👎

Let's hope not... 9 NASCAR vehicles and a bunch of clones later and those premiums could be start to look an awful lot like just the GT5P lineup.

Does this mean you will use a bit of Photoshop? Really, I recommend it. Hurry up and create a gallery so I can respond there instead.

I can't really think of another game that's done something equivalent to PSP's MX-5/Miata cloning. Or the 350Z/350Z (E)/Fairlady. Or the entire Vauxhall lineup copied as an Opel one too. It's silly and an obvious numbers grab. The SuperGT's are similar (since all the GT500's really are the same from the manufacturer each year, other than small setup changes), but it was the doubling or tripling up of street cars that happen to have different names elsewhere in the world that caught attention. I hope they don't do it again.

Let's hope not... 9 NASCAR vehicles and a bunch of clones later and those premiums could be start to look an awful lot like just the GT5P lineup.

The one positive, as Toronado pointed out, is that a lot of the modern Skylines (R32 and up), while probably overkill, do have tiny differences between most of them. If the plan is to slowly convert Standards to Premium, huge swathes can be changed quickly. We've seen every modern iteration of GT-R as a Premium, right? Small detail changes here and there are all we need to get all the V-Spec / N1 / etc versions in there, and only a little bit more work to get the respective Nismo models too.

Well initially ( since I was expecting interior view on all cars ) I though the Opel/Vauxhall ( or Toyota/Lexus, Holden/Pontiac, etc. on some models ) overlap might finally make some sense as one would be LHD only whilst the other would be RHD only ( regardless of which badge you prefer, the choice of placing the steering wheel to the side you prefer or just being able to drive similar cars with a real viewpoint difference is to me a significant distinction ) but since I assume most of the actual Opel/Vauxhall line-up present in GT4 might be Standard cars the main difference is probably still which badge you prefer.:)

I can think of one, and that's Ferrari Challenge, they included every teams livery for the F430 Challenge cars as a separate car in the count.

Very, very, very naughty.

Hmmm, never thought about it like that, I suppose it would've been handy then. Too bad it doesn't look like it'll matter this game :-|.

I should've added an asterisk about one-make games ;). Though I guess that situation is still just the same as the SuperGT cars in GT. As long as they're from the same year, one NSX or GT-R is the same as any others...
