Wow! I just got a DFP and its great. I played the other GT's with the game pad. This is the first time ever using a wheel for me. My house got robbed 2 wks ago and they stole my ps2 along with Comp etc. I was at 25% and just going to get started on endurance races. I waited soooo long for gt4 it was in my ps2 along with my mem card. Oh well, I convinced my wife that i cant live without the game and since i found this site i decited to get a DFP and start all over. Since i've never used a wheel its really like starting over. I've been trying Arcade mode to practice because i refuse to start the game till i borrow a friends mem card with gt3 on it to get a head start.( my gt3 was on the card in the ps2 that got stollen) Ok, insert newB question here: After you make a hard turn is it normal for there to be no force feedback while the car is straitining out? Its a weird feeling going from forcing the car into a turn then coming out and always over steering. Is that just a feel thing I will get used to?

when the car oversteers the wheel will go limp towards the direction towards the outside or turn towards that direction a little bit... that is unless you are pass the point of no return. :)

Nothing unusual.

Er.. I reccomend playing live for speed with the wheel also if you have a Decent pc.

Ok, thanks, that makes sence.

hello,

my english isn't so good, sorry for that ....

I use the Driving force wheel (it just can't turn at 900 degrees) and i try to drift since a few days ... but it's really very hard ... i always spins too far away ( too much oversteer) ....

can someone tell me if it is possible with that kind of wheel , or is it impossible ??

Thanx a lot

I've had this wheel for a while - it is amazing - BUT, is there a way to select 900 or 300 degree turn? I ask as I'm having some trouble with it in a few LM cars, especially on the nurburgring, and if I could select 300 degree that would make all the difference. As 900 degrees of lock is a bit OTT for a LM car....

Any ideas?

Thanks

the only way i know of to limit rotation is on the PC side of things, using the new drivers or before that DXtweak2.

but i think for the PS2 it's only 200 or 900. you would think that Logi would make more of a "middle ground". say, at least 540 like rally cars. i drive 340deg myself.

I went to Wal-Mart yesterday and saw that The Logitech Driving Force Pro steering wheel went down in price from $149.99 down to $100.00. I'm thinkin about putting 2 on layaway. :dopey: đź‘Ť

It is very possible to drift with the driving force pro. Most people complain about snapback, but you dont seem to be countersteering fast enough. It just takes practice :) get to know the car. đź‘Ť
...........................................................................................

For the Race cars you shouldnt need to turn more than 270° for most of them (including LMP cars)

I once saw a gameplay video of a guy using the DFP which was a couple of minutes long. Does anyone know where i may find it or any other video showing me the wheel in action??

Cheers.

3rdgenracerX has a couple license test videos with the DFP in play, great stuff. Do a search and see if you can find them. đź‘Ť

Not sure if it's in this thread already but last night I was messing around with the dfp, and if you pause the game during a race, and press select, you get the wheel view on screen.

:)

Yeah, but it goes away for the next race unless you set it in the options :(

Also, with the wheel display on, does anyone notice that sometimes it doesnt turn completely smoothly? Like, every second or two of rotation there is a slight jitter in the display of the rotation of it?

Also, in the PAL version I have noticed sometimes the OSD pedal meters and wheel are drawn sometimes at 25fps and other times at 50fps. Anyone else get this? Is this due to CPU resources or is the DFP actually sending less temporal resolution to the game?

I was wondering if someone could help me.

My DFP has started upshifting 2 - 3 gears instead of one when I am using the paddle shifter, I have heard that Werner has posted a fix for this but I can't find it.

Thanks.

Damn, that sucks. It shouldnt be doing that, those "paddles" are just non-analogue L1 and R1 buttons, they should work normally.

Oh, about the DFP though, I've noticed mine has a slight bit of free play. It's not enough to measure (less than a millimeter) but just enough to feel a slight gap and a click when changing directions of rotation. Does anyone else have this or is the wheel supposed to have absolutly NO free play whatsoever?

Yeah it seems to be reasonably common, I know of a few others who have had or are having this problem.

Hi! Does anybody know how to turn 900° mode on PC? I have got my DFP pro connected to my PC because of Live for Speed 2 demo, and when I finally got my pedals recognized, I am not able to change my wheel to 900° :( the select+L3+right padle doesn`t work for me...any help guys?

Sorry if this has been asked already, but I got lost searching through the multitude of pages on this thread.

Logitech states on their website that PS2 controllers are not PC-compatible, yet there are DFP drivers for the PC  So my question is where do these drivers come from, if not Logitech, and what's the latest version (and where can I get it)? I currently have 440 I think.

Thanks.

PS2 controllers are compatible with the pc... you just have to get a ps2-usb adapter, which i have. And the DFP is made by Logitech, who also makes PC wheels. THe old driving force is basicly the Wingman wheel with ps2 buttons added on.

:EDIT: if you go to the www.wingmanteam.com you will find the 460 drivers there.

PS2-usb adapter?? what's that? you don't need that. just plug the usb directly to you computer's usb port and install the 4.6 drivers.

no adapter is needed, maybe that's your issue.

I think he was talking about the adapter to allow you to use a Dual Shock 2 on a PC. They make adapters taht convert the PS2 controller port to usb.

What do you recommend to clean the rubber on the steering wheel?

Sorry if this has been answered, I have searched high and low.

Thanx

Just wet a rag that doesnt leave any lint, and scrub the rubber. đź‘Ť make sure it doesnt leave lint, or you will have lint all over your wheel . :)

I had this problem - Major pain in close races!

I called logitech and asked if this was a known problem. They said it had not been reported yet. They sent me a new one! way to go Logitech!

On the plus side, while I was waiting I started using the shift knob and I kinda like it better now! :))

I tried to post this as a separate thread a while back and it was denied- I don't feel like reading page after page of posts. The huge posts should be stripped of useless content and make stickies if enough good info is in them.

I wish an admin would give me the power to edit the 1st post and add new Information and links to Drivers and tutorials to setting up the wheel... Since Darin has been Banned.

Okay, fair enough, but I was referring to the fact that Logitech explicitly state that the two are not interchangeable. Doesn't matter though.

As for that site, I can only find the 4.50 drivers. Are they the latest?

Yeah I also preferred it until your problem started with my shift knob (rather than my paddles, which still work 100%). Only difference is my shift knob downshifts 2 - 3 gears, or sometimes just drops all the way to first. Haven't gotten around to contacting Logitech about it, will do so shortly, but for now it makes for a good recovery device (spin out, need to get into 1st gear quickly, just tap forward on the knob once and voila! :sly: )
