Quick question. Shall you be holding more seasons of this? I hope that some people can vouch for the fact that I am a competent, if not fast, driver in GT4, and I have been looking for an excuse to fire up the old PS2 again (even entered the photomode comps again :D). If you were to hold another season, I would be most interested in it. This season has played out well from my position as a spectator, keep it up! :D

A second season remains to be seen, wether season ones drivers care to particpate in another or even the admin, an after action type review will occur at the end of season one. It may not even be the same format, it may spawn into a couple of seasons run silmutaneously, plain and simple who knows yet.

The best way to get an invite though to any follow on season is to prove yourself to be an above board racer in the Top Gear Comparo thread at the moment. Six of the original invitations were declined or missed.

See what you guys think of this rule.

When a driver sells their car it may be purchased as is by the driver who's has the lowest season points for the price it was sold for. A driver may only purchase a car once a circuit in this manner.

The car may be passed or refused by the first eligible driver whereupon it passes up the the seasons points list until it reaches the person who sold the car originally. The person who originally sold the car may not purchase it and the car is sold to an outside dealer. If no one wants the car or it is sold by the person with the lowest season total the car is bought by an outside dealer.

The car recieves a one time only free oil change by its new owner who is responsible for its up keep from there on. The new owner will be told what parts come with the car and this car will retain the same sale value its original owner recieved when they sold it.

Am I getting this right?
If I spent 6,000cr on buying my car, and another 6,000cr modifying it before deciding to sell, I will get 25% of the total back, or 3,000cr.

My car will then be offered round the other contestants for 3,000cr complete with the modifications I had added, effectively giving them the option to buy 12,000cr worth of car and parts for 3,000cr?

I'd effectively be giving them a competitive, mildly tuned car for the cost of a Daihatsu Midget?

My opinion currently is that I would welcome a second series, with some tweaks to the format and rules. We are now too far into the first series to be making any significant changes to the way it works, or to allow late entries.

As said above, the best way to prove your worth, and your abilities is to take part in the Top Gear Comparason thread. It makes for a good feeder series, being less serious and a bit silly at times. The theme changes each week, and has varied from small used cars to 500hp race cars. Now where is SVX? the wagon race should have been wrapped up by now.

Pretty much, but a single driver except the season leader can buy only one car a circuit that way. If a car is sold before sunday, and someone buys it, they could buy another one in the 3rd circuit and during the season championship. If nothing is sold by sunday only one car can be bought in the 3rd circuit per driver except the one at the top of the season points by this method. Either way the driver at the bottom gets the first crack at it unless they already bought one in that circuit and are ineligible then up the list it goes.

Good, I'm not the only one who thinks that is not a good solution. This best "fairest" option is to up the resale percentage, to 50-75%. That would benefit everyone, not just those at the back of the pack; but that also would cause at least half the field to immediately change cars.

EDIT: the reason the game has a resale of 25% is to make it harder to buy and sell cars, to encourage keeping a lot of cars in the garage, for this competition the in-game resale value has no relevance.

Pretty much,

So I could give GrumpEone my Silvia for 1,918cr... :indiff:
and buy a Civic Type-R '98 + oil change for 10,040cr :scared:
or gain 26hp from a stage 1 NA + exhaust for 7,400cr. :dopey:
I think I'll stick with the car I know.

It's not the best solution, but being around 1/3rd of the way through the series, I think it's too late to change it now.

I originally thought 75% would be fairer, but that would value my Silvia at 5,754cr which is more than I payed for the car. I guess it needs a bit more thought, or experimenting with to find the 'best' solution.

In other news, I have had an idea involving different classes of cars and mandatory replacing of cars, but I'll keep the details under wraps until nearer the end of this first 'trial' season.

I'll certainly vouch for senamic. :)

Here it is thursday again, we got three times all on sunday and nothing since. I know a couple of you waiting out the Nitrous vote, and Skython11 could decide it without me voting on this one. Otherwise I will cast my vote this afternoon and settle it.

Waiting on Dogbreath, Jet Badger, Shotamagee, Skython11 to "PM" their times so the GrumpEone engraving company can finish the trophies.

** News **
Nitrous is now banned in the Sunday Cup.

Well, tomorrow(friday) the weather should be much more videogame-friendly, and it will be the luckiest day of the year, so I will probably post my time then. It's not a nice feeling to make others wait for me :nervous:

With the nitrous ruling, I'll post my time when I get home.

There's a week between rounds no matter when we post our times (right?), so I don't feel particularly guilty about my time submission speed, besides I actually have more time during the week for this sort of thing then I do on the weekend.

Yeah, you have a week. But championship rounds are only one track and I have to get the names off to the engravers (GrumpEone) before I can post the results. Doing all of this saturday night before I post the next week on sunday morning is a pain. I'm usually pretty busy on the weekends.

Not only does it slow up the trophies but all of the admining for one round carries over to the next in a circuit. I can't complete all of the reports till the previous one is done. Needless to say it gums up the works waiting to the last minute.

You are to receive my times within 2 minutes

Here where I am there is about 30 minutes till the deadline, it is 11.30 PM on Saturday

Parts purchased:
Sports exhaust/filter 1,500
Racing Flywheel: 900

Alrighty then, let me start the admin wheels and get the engravers to work. It should take about 30 minutes.

Engraved in 13 min, from the time I got the message. BH-21, requested a rush on it, so I got out the high speed engraver, Trophies are being expedited by courier immediately (in a Dodge Viper GTS-R Team Oreca Race Car, they should arrive shortly).

Hondas appear to be ignoring their FWD "handicap" and proving that they are not any less capable than the others :D Very nice driving guys :)

I think I'm getting confused with all this jumping back and forwards in the thread.

By my calculations, the points standings should now be;
Code:
Driver Car Week2 Week3 Week4 Week5	Total
=============================================================
Jet Badger RX-7	21	6	18	6	= 51
Car-less Silvia	20	5	22	3	= 50
shotamagee MX-5	16	4	15	0	= 35
Skython Civic	9	2	16	5	= 32
Dogbreath AE-86	8	3	12	1	= 24
BH-21 CR-X	0	1	17	4	= 22
GrumpEone Mirage	10	0	5	2	= 17

...or did you intentionally give us double points last week?

Seems I did mess up there, thanks Car-less. I probably added a pre-championship and championship week instead of just one of them.

Funny thing is, I did the awards right but botched the points add up on the Season Roster. Big face palm! :banghead:

There is one problem with having that Viper deliver it... I'M NOT DRIVING IT :grumpy: :P

YES!!!! 2nd at Seoul, I really thought I'd place low here, since I never do this track, but slipstreaming must of really helped, I'm really surprised with my placing. :)

Wait, did I get 2nd???

Well, the trophies had to get delivered fast, although they barely fit in that Viper with all the racing madifications.

2nd Place, and those burgers on top of the engine came out perfectly too. I'm glad you needed those few quarter-pounders ballast on the front, they were delicious, although I shouldn't have ate them before racing, I think that extra weight was the difference between my 5th place and finishing 4th. :)

Nicely done. I'm a little confused by the conversation but I'm sure you guys'll work it out.

HOme sick this weekend. I'll get some stuff done tomorrow.

The winners circle trophies are based on the circuit points and the standing in that circuit. Each race awards its own trophies is how Skython11 got a Silver cup for the race and tied for a Bronze Trophy for the Circuit. Hope that clears things up.

Any references to Vipers is because that is Skython11's favorite car.

3rd Circuit

Welcome to the 3rd Circuit of the Sunday Cup, the main event of the Sunday Cup Season. We have four weeks of multi-track racing followed by one week with the 3rd Circuit Champoinship. The 3rd Circuit will focus on tracks between two and four miles in length, the tracks are also more challenging with more complex curves and longer straightways. The majority of the tracks of the season are in the 3rd Circuit, if you do well here it can save a racers season or send them into the basement. Every racer will be exposed to bigger sponsors and bigger purses for each event bringing greater modifications and even car changes for some drivers.

So gentlemen to your cars. Start your engines! Let the 3rd Circuit begin!

Yay, Viper

I'm not tuning this week, need some more moneys. Since I don't think I can get anything useful for, that should teach me for getting that exhaust.

Good that we're going to Infineon, in fact maybe not, wait, how do FF's deal with uphills... Oh 🤬 I need to get an FR at some point
