Turnaround race?

I finally completed a lap with the Tomahawk X, 5:10.169, which puts me all the way up in 14464th in the in the world haha. I could probably pick up those 10 seconds and get a gold but it would take me all day. It took me over an hour just to run a clean lap, even with ASM on. I'm 18832nd at the Daytona one but I'm ahead of everyone on my friend list so that's all that matters. And 2467th at Willow, and I don't think I can run any faster. So my standings are the opposite of Jocke's

Very happy for Harsk to finally get back online in GT6
after almost twelve months of struggle for him.

And you were wicked fast Harsk. Pole position right out
of the box and you remained in the lead until you ran
out of electricity.

Well done and keep up that performance wherever you race next. 👍

Nice avatar, Jocke. :)

It is a good one isn't it.

Felt like celebrating Harsk's return. We wrote history today and this
was a once-in-a-lifetime event. :)

Race results will be posted later. It was a fun two races..
It was a good night.

I wasn't able to recreate my form from the pre-qualifying practice at Brands. Harsk was really fast.
Early in the race I was worried that I might have been too aggressive going inside someone (I think Dusty?) at the hairpin. I stayed wide at the exit & slowed down to try to let them pass but I think I just slowed us both down (& also Jocke, I think?) by doing so, while the 2 leaders opened a gap. Sorry for that. :dunce:
I realised I would have to make 2 stops & some others had managed to stay out until after lap 6 so a high finish was off the cards for me. I managed to pass Harsk just before the finish line because he had had to coast when he ran out of juice. Had he made 2 stops, he would have finished ahead of me.

At Spa I was lucky that Dusty pulled away so quickly & I was in 2nd position so I didn't have to contend with any spray blocking my view & was able to hold on until the end. Gamer was in my rear view for the whole race but had his vision affected by the spray from behind my car. If he was ahead of me he surely would have pulled away & I probably would have crashed at some point if I tried to catch him.

Thanks for the races everyone.

When I raced with Harsk previously he was always fast and he hasn't seemed to have lost his speed. What he has seemed to have lost is his very laggy internet connection - which is a great bonus. It seemed to work very well Harsk. 👍

Since I never seem to be that competitive with the actual racing these days, in the the Tesla I set myself a challenge. I decided to see if I could last the whole race without pitting, while running at a good enough pace that wouldn't get me lapped. Tick and tick, I managed both. Only just though, it ran out a few meters from the line!

The 7 race was a bit of a disaster. I got called away to do "stuff", so I'd just grabbed a setup and entered the track while I went away to do "stuff". I was back in time for the race only to realise the setup wasn't much good and to cap it off my gearbox was still in automatic (from the Tesla) so it kept changing down when I didn't want it to - locking the rears up. I eventually parked it up and went to do more "stuff". I think I finished in the same place I would have been in if I'd continued racing anyway. :boggled:
Boy was it raining. I'm sending GK the cleaning bill for one very wet race suit. :P

Hi chaps, just got a little suggestion. I love seasonal events, and I wondered if the club members might fancy basing next Tuesday's race on the non racing car seasonal time trial we'll be getting tomorrow (Thursday). Same regs and circuit, but C/S tyres of course. That way we'll get some practice in and should all be well up to speed by Tuesday.

Cheers, Zo.

👍
Only Paul left now.

No, not me. :)
I saw a gap between you and Dusty and went for it. It worked out well.

For all of us really.

The lobby was very kind yesterday and I tend to think it is because I always
set it to three stars these days with no chat and no visual damage.

Plus there weren't any problems with the pit stops. No one got stuck and I believe
the option '0 stops' is what helps. So the driver is able to choose himself how many
times he wants to stop.

PD is getting a lot of flak on the forums when people disconnect but it might just
be that they are setting the qualities too high.

more "stuff"
Your avatar is quite fitting. :sly:

Mikey try to push me off the track in BH race - why? He didn'n see me?
I don't know. I saw you trading paint in the replay though.
Hopefully it wasn't intentional.

I've been off work this week and have been revisiting some of my early cars, some of which I haven't driven in over a year, and never with my wheel. Dug out an old favourite - Lotus Carlton. Never raced anyone online in one of these, feels great at 500pp on CS tyres. Would love to see a field of these if you fancy giving it a go.

I had a quick look at the replay. You certainly were the winner from that corner.
I think I actually passed Dusty legitimately too (though I did only have a quick watch, I'll check again later). I was just so incredulous that such a thing could happen that I thought I must have fouled somehow! :embarrassed:

Lots of ideas coming forward.

Could I suggest a day out for the club at Apricot Hill sometime?
Using a couple of cars that don't get much of a look in. Both fairly cheap.

The morning event - 20 minutes.
Tommy Kaira ZZ-S / tuned to 525pp/250bhp/650kg on CS. It's like a Zam, but with a bit more power.
Apricot Hill forward. Start time 06:10. Time progression x7. Qualifying 6 minutes

A break for lunch. :)

The evening event - 20 minutes.
Re Ameniya FD3S RX7 / untuned (+oil) on CS. One of my favorites from GT5.
Apricot Hill reverse. Start time 17:20. Time progression x5. Qualifying 6 minutes

The Weather at 0 (fixed) for both to get a nice sunrise and sunset.

(Times maybe subject to change - although they aren't to bad at the moment)

I've be doing quite a lot of experimenting to get the times and settings right and I'd recommend tyre/fuel use set to fast only.

So this? :)

Pre-1980 American Non-Race Car Super Lap

  • Trial Mountain Circuit
  • Normal cars, 550PP Max, Sports/Soft compounds or less
  • Year: 1979 or earlier
  • Gold: 130,000cr; Silver: 78,000cr, Bronze: 45,500cr
  • Gift: Matte Pink

If so, I am in !

That's what I was thinking of, but are we all brave enough to do this on C/S tyres? I'll leave that up to Jocke, I suppose we could use a slightly lower PP if 550 was a bit much, but I'd race anything on C/S, and since we had the Tesla on C/H in the wet, I recon everybody here could manage a grunty V8 on C/S. After all, they are about the equivalent of what pre 1980 American motors ran about on anyway.

Cheers, Zo.

Let's do it.

Wooohooooo! For the sake of fairness, I have to say that Bergele and myself have already got stuck in, and, it looks like this is going to be a GT40 Mk1 '66 race. What a fabulous motor it is! A right handful and SOOOOOOO pokey. My prediction for the result is.................. everyone will be sweating their nuts off be the end of the race. Fabulous.

Cheers, Zo.

The GT40 mk1 '66 is fun CS! Not too slippery but lots of countersteering fun!

I also tried the Shelby GT350. Fully tunes the torque is something very scary. It is bit heavier than the Ford but if all that torque can be tamed it might make a good challenger :)

Or we could not allow the GT40 and solely be an American pre-1979 FR race. Since muscle cars are more fun. That said I'll buy the GT40 for this seasonal anyway probably.

I like a bit of variety in a race myself Blue, but for fun factor I don't think there's much out there that's way ahead of the Mk1. There is tons of feel through the steering and the back end moves about really predictably (up to a point). Perhaps we could give a 20 second start to anyone who uses a F/R instead of M/R.

Whatever we race I'm already looking forward to Tuesday night. It's going to be hard work but fun.

I also tried the Shelby GT350.

I'll give that a go myself later Bergele, and there's the Cuda Six Pack, or something like that, which I fancy trying. The Challenger too.................. so much testing to do.

Cheers, Zo.

@JockeP22

Is this a once a week group?

During summer break (winter break, or when schools are closed for snow), I can usually make 2000 GMT events during the week. I like the variety I am reading about. I have run with @Cu3e several times over the years - I think he is a smidge faster than me unless we have some combination that suits me really well, then I might have a tiny edge over him. Maybe.

I have not run most of these cars on comfort compounds, so it will be interesting to learn how to make inputs smoother to account for that, and for rain (eek).

If club is closed, no worries. Thanks for your time.
