I do hope you're sick and need cough medicine as that's the only time anyone should ever be drinking that stuff in the first place :yuck:

I am liking the discussion. My intention was always to have the spontaneity of not knowing the actual lineup before hand. I did not want the series to be about getting the ultimate lap times through practicing before hand. It also creates that one added bit of strategy. I.e. can I pick a track that will benefit me and hinder others. This would work better if we made it a requirement to post your lineup prior to taking part. But I realize that might not be reasonable.

One other reminder. This league runs to the same strict intolerance of bad driving as the main SNAIL events. Please do not think that you can come to this series and race in a manner that would get you penalties in the main events and think that they will go unpunished.

I want us all to have fun but that starts with making sure your driving is not effecting your fellow racers or as I like to think of you all as teammates. Yes I want to beat you all but not if it effects the team results.

If you feel anyone is driving inappropriately please send me a PM with the details and I will look in to it.

Have fun tonight

And Joe Dr. Pepper, is that french for snot?

Woah, let's slow down on the Dr. Pepper bashing. And I'll throw Mr. Pibb into that statement as well before you get any other ideas.

Fair enough and thanks for taking it into consideration. Maybe we can discuss some more tonight but it seems like the consensus here is that it's not favorable. You mention picking a lineup that is strategic in terms of being for any tracks selected by the winner. This idea does take away that certain advantage on picking the next track. For example, last week Carboneyes won round 3 and chose Sarthe which is a long course which was great for his LFA because he knew it had a good top end while others were less competitive with cars that had no top and specialized in low end. Smart move on his part. I suppose the way to be more competitive is to pick a mix of cars that can handle whatever is thrown at you. I wouldn't want to take that away from anyone that comes to this challenge for that aspect. Personally, I really enjoy this challenge and I've learned a lot already as a stupid ****in noob. I'll be happy either way.

On a final note, dr pepper is gross. There I said it! Bring back SURGE

This series started as a "winner picks next track" and "post your final lineup an hour before the race" event. This put emphasis on strategy and car choice.

We have moved away from the lineup restrictions so perhaps track choices are the next decision to be made. I'm in for discussion.

I guess it boils down to what people want. I wanted a series that had some strategy, luck, good racing in a variety of cars. I originally wanted each lineup to be unique (ie only one person can use that car) but that seemed a bit difficult to implement. I also wanted something that moved away from the spec type racing that was already well represented within SNAIL. If we all know what tracks will be raced we will be able to know what the best cars are for those tracks. Or at least the people with the most practice time will have the best idea.

I also wanted people to takes Joe's approach of just picking some cars and see how they do.

Now if the people taking part want to go down that route of trying to pick tracks ahead of time I am fine with that. But it does move away from the original idea.

From the occasional participant. The great thing about this series is the ability to throw together four cars the day of the race (when I find out I don't have to work) and go racing and have a chance to race with someone. The car may not be the greatest or I may stumble onto a good one here or there.

If you have guys testing known tracks with various cars for an entire week, it would not be feasible for someone to come in and compete just by throwing a line up together and trying out different cars. It would quickly turn into the guys that are testing all week would have a line up fleshed out with the best car for each track and there would be five or six of that car on that track and then you have spec racing all over again.

The best part of this series as far as I'm concerned, is not knowing what track is coming up next and having to adjust to that on the fly.

Looking at Bowler's pick, this track probably won't get picked next week, but I'd like to add Circuit de la Sarthe (WITH Chicanes)

Here is one of the issues last week with the track that was choosen. We ran the one WITHOUT Chicanes.

Looks good to me.

Finally finished testing. I'm down to 19,133 credits so I went with the 830 split from the Reasonably Priced lineup.

FF - TRD Ferguson '00 416pp
FR - "Racing" '13 413pp

4wd - Impreza GT 300 Base '08 514pp
MR - NSX-R LM Road Car 560pp

C'mon guys, I capitalized it for you and everything!
Yeah, but Carboneyes had won the previous race and wanted to run the non Chicane version and I caved after everyone was like "no big deal". So we ran it and were down by 30-40mph top speed from Carbon and Bloodredsky.

Sooo, lesson learned. No more Sarthe ;)

The first two look great. The second two are actually to low on PP. You can choose cars between 511-564 (537 avg). So you can choose a faster MR and AWD. I have added you to the signup sheet which should help you out.

See they were strategic and had a plan. You were all unprepared and just there to have fun;)

No more Mr. Nice Guy tonight. Tonight is gonna be serious with no chatter during the races....

That sounded funny even as I typed it....

:)

It will be ok for me this time since it's my first drivetrain race, just here to have a fun night, but next week I'll have a better lineup.
Just pick a better GT-R. No one cares if your MR car is 2pp low for tonight. No idea why I missed that you were so low to begin with.

@JoeW
That was funny.
