Single player, 3 lap race, Bathurst, RH:

2:19
2:12
2:11

Not invited to the club yet. Fingers crossed. 👍

Bathurst and I never get along together. RM tyres are better than RH in endurance races. Film at eleven.

Fuji F and I usually do get along together. Quick test session looked good for me.

That was the most intense 25 minutes of racing I've experienced in a long time...and then I ran out of gas. Doh! Uploading a video of my battle with KG that lasted what seemed like an eternity. His BMW had the straight line speed but I had the torque up the mountain. He could pull me around but after trying to pass 4 times on the straights I finally made it stick exiting turn 2 only to run out of gas before I could get into the pits. Overall still a fun night. I gained back a few more spots in the 2nd half but it wasn't the same. I love that track, it's really hard to keep your laps consistent so even if you pass someone they're always right there behind you waiting for the next mistake.

What should I be shooting for for lap times? I've been making tweaks which are helping the handling, but I'm not seeing faster lap times.

That's about where I'm stuck. But I feel like we'll see 1:39s from the faster drivers/cars.

Tell me, is the handling between practice mode (where you can follow your ghost) and online still way different? I'd like to log some laps to make sure I'm taking the right line through some of these corners, but in GT5 it was a waste of time because things were so different with the tire models.

The GT-1 Club Room is open to any of us for practice - at any time.

Sometimes another Driver will pop in and you can measure progress together.

You might even throw on the Driving Line if needed, for a bit.

I've heard that there are still major differences. I never use off-line mode, so I can't comment from personal experience.

I have cracked into the high 41's but havent exhausted my options yet as far as tuning. The thing im weakest at is optimizing the trans for a track and i think thats my biggest weak point currently. I feel like that long straight is killing my times.

Dont worry too much about it though. Last week i heard the pace might be high 5's but i did well even with a fast lap of only 9.0 in my first stint. I feel like times from practice to race can vary.

Yeah, if I hadn't run out of gas I was in a good position to take 4th place with my 10s and 11s last week. Really dropped the ball on that one.

I've been driving FUJI for a long time but some cars require slightly different approaches. I doubt the driving line accounts for that. The final turn is very open to interpretation and I see in amateur racing series a lot of drivers apex way to early and smash into drivers ahead of them going for a late apex. I remember watching an interview of Lewis Hamilton a number of years ago where he described some of the lines he took. Prior to seeing that video, I was turning in way too early. Now the Mustang isn't an F1 car obviously. I've been working to get it to rotate a little better under trail braking so if I over shoot the apexes I can reign in in with a little brakes. This tune most definitely won't apply to any other track.

I played a little with the transmission as well. It's hard to know how much more RPM I'll need for the draft. If we are doing some practicing tonight and tomorrow I'll be able to nail that down. I'm also going to play around with the power mods again to see if different combinations help. So much of the lap time is going to be these long straights.

Ill be on tonight and tomorrow, my tune needs a lot of attention so i need all the time i can get. My opinion is that the line at the final turn is late apex and if anyone tries to stuff inside its on them since that is offline. Its important to get as much exit speed as possible there with the long straight so if you turn early youre toast. And if you stuff inside someone taking a late apex then youre both toast because youll lose too much exit speed.
