Great racing tonight everyone! Props to @JVick1397 for reeling me in at the end of race 2 setting up a fantastic battle for the win, which was so close that even GT6 couldn't tell  I may post a race report tomorrow if I'm in the mood. I'm off to bed.

Yes but you are getting quicker compared to your first attempts. Keep it up and you WILL get there.

Looking for post 1201

I am close.. But close only comes in horseshoes and hand grenades!! lol I practiced on this track for the first time today for about 10 laps before qualifying! So who knows if more practice would of gained me .162?? I had fun believe it or not!! Just trying to make the field and lay down a fast lap to get in is a different style then any other league out there! or at least that I have been in! Thanks again Grim!! There is always next week!! 👍

I do - yes, it would have. There's no replacement for seat time.

Good racing with everyone tonight.

2153 or thereabouts, Finish race 1 with first win in RCS.
2200 - 2245 or so, Race 2, not so flawless in driver execution but still finish in top 10, thanks to others driving more not so flawless.

Never did catch a good groove in race 2. Not sure what caused euclid to lag out but it hung my load screen for a very nervous time, thought either the lag monkey was about to climb all over my connection or the whole room was about to implode. Had 2 slide outs in my first and second stint and the car just never really felt right. I sure wish PD would get us some tools to lock down rooms so the randoms can't ass up a race. I had a butt clenching lag spike right before that first random joined. Then the distracting text messages popping up, while racing, annoyed me. I was disappointed my team mate had a mechanical/electrical malfunction at the start and had to be pulled from the grid. It would have been quite a points haul for Drunk Dragons had both cars held up for both races.

Looking forward to seeing the results from tonight.

Sorry about last night. Had company in race 1 I was not expecting, then in race 2 my ISP decides that 10:00 on a Wed night is a good time for "maintainance":banghead:

My Race Day Log ended up being a bit shorter and not only because modesty prevents me from recording my bowel movements!

1830 (Irish Time) Finish Work - check
1900 Consume high carbohydrate (pasta based) meal - check
2000 Collect daughter from study group - check
2045 Respond to my Zeat Motorsport teammate's message following his realisation the race starts around 2am my time - check
2100 Go for a lie down with the intention of getting a couple of hours kip before a bit of practice and KOQ at 1am my time - check
2333 - Wake up, check time and decide I'll snooze on for another 1/2 hour or so - check
0538 - Wake up again, check time - check.......hold on........CHECK AGAIN.......FOOK!
0539 - Realisation dawns on me that I've missed the race altogether - check

I have to apologise to my teammate, Zii, for the no show which will hamper our points standing in the team championship.

Well, I read somewhere in the main SNAIL thread that racing while you're all clenched up having to poop is a bad thing. It's an important part of any race day ritual:sly:.? It worked well last night for at least one race.

Sounds like another great race was had. Two questions and a comment…

1) KOQ on this track…did anyone work together by drafting each other to better your times? Seems like the perfect track to do so.
2) Did anyone do a one stop race and if so how did it turn out?

@grimm, if I start seeing poop statistics from you Parcells will be forced to retire from the series.

It also improves the power to weight ratio I believe. Of course, for those drivers who are full of s#*t this can give them quite an advantage.

Present company excepted of course! :D

Oh, I fully admit I could be full of the proverbial feces, and, it seems in last night's races, art imitated life, since my best, without said clenching prevention, was a 1:01.2xx. I do have to thank et/erazer however. His crew's fuel management decisions provided me 1 position, both races.

2) Did anyone do a one stop race and if so how did it turn out?
In race 2, 2 drivers one stopped, they finished 7th and 10th, starting from 4th and 7th, respectively. Race 1, 3 drivers tried a 1 stop pit strategy, finishing 10th, 13th and 14th from starting positions of 15th, 8th and 3rd, also respectively. I'll let you be the judge of what worked and what didn't there.

That was one of the strangest races I have been a part of. Seems like there was someone different doing a pit stop between laps 9-21 with 3 different pit strategies taking place. People running out of gas, people spinning out on their own (my self included). Just a bizarre set of races.

I'll have the results posted later tonight after work.

That last turn spins you out. You need to watch it as your tires wear. I don't like the track at all. It's so wide that when racing other drivers you need to find the exact part of the road that is fastest and ain't nobody got time for dat. I like a nice simple out in out with some sweepers. Not all sweepers.

I saw these guys slowly coming for about 6 laps then got out of way at start of last lap. Didn't want to ruin the awesome battle I saw unfolding, just in case I committed another error... Nothing to gain or lose for me. Couple passes on last lap, and awesome ending!

I actually spun in turn one more. There's a point where if you turn the wheel just enough, it's over with basically no warning. Since I generally didn't run high in practice, the two times I did in the race as someone was passing / re entering ended poorly for me. Assume others had same problem there.

I found for turn one, keeping the car about half a width off the curbing, as I passed a perpendicular track discoloration give the steering angle a slight nudge left and back, and the car would basically steer itself down to apex and carry between 182 to 184MPHs through the apex. Et and Wii may have some other tips for there and other parts of the track. 'Tis all moot now anyway, since that race is done and I doubt will be raced again in this series. I'm pretty sure the DS3 users were still affected by high speed turning capabilities.

@WiiFreak I seem to remember you got a wheel last year. Are you still using a DS3 or have you put that aside.

Did anyone buy the Prima Essential Track Guide when GT5 was out? It's surprisingly helpful. I wish they made a new one with the added tracks.

And yea, high speed and sweepers are the two hardest things for DS3 users.

I do run a DS3 controller and I have to say that the 1 pit strategy was the only reason that I finished where I did in both races. I am by no means the fastest guy in the world here. Despite the many days spent practicing this combo I couldn't break 1:02.358. If I hadn't made the top 10 last week to avoid KOQ I would have never even made the show. Doing the math against running 1 pit and the time loss generated by that as apposed to stopping twice to average 1 second a lap better times I saved roughly 40 seconds overall. The only time that I managed to overtake anyone was in the pits. I concentrated on consistency. Every time someone came up behind me, I let them by as cleanly as I could. I may have only finished 10th in both races but I'm proud of myself for not spinning out not once in both races but also not getting collected by one of the many wrecks that occurred in front of me. At least I finished both races on the lead lap and didn't have any infractions. All in all, I had a great time and I'm glad that I had a chance to be apart of it. I'm also glad that we are going back to tighter circuits. No more High Speed Ring or Indy SS. Holy crap!!!

Yes, while using the DS3 a decent lift was required as you moved down towards the apex of turn 1 so a fair bit of time was lost there. The best time I managed was a 1:02.5.

It's definitely the high speed sweepers are the problem with this car. During the pre season testing I ran pretty well at Tokyo, a track devoid of such turns, so I'm looking forward to the next round with a little bit more confidence.

I'm just glad I made a big turn-around from running outta gas in the first race, would've loved the win but hey I'll take 2nd any day, especially as a rookie, All Star Race hell yeah!

I spun twice last night. Final turn in race 1 lap 4 just lost the back end and ended up on the bottom facing the wrong direction. Waited until the entire field passed before I was Abe to get turned around.

The other was late in race 2 turn 1 was due to lapse in concentration missing my turn in too late. Luckily I didn't lose too much time.

The hardest part for me was trying to avoid the various spins and seeing through the smoke.

looking forward to next week

That was what was happening to me reign as I use a ds3 controller and even the time I ran was my fastest for that combo, but I couldn't keep up with the bump spot as I couldn't get past 1:02.3 and I was running by myself which made it a disadvantage for me and if I had the time in KOQ I would've been running with my teammate but there wasn't a lot of time left which disappointed me a lot as I was practicing with @euclid58 and @Dragonwhisky and I was only a second off from them and I thought that I was going to have a chance.
