And always use the clutch downhill!
I'll use a Tesla
Yep.I tried low revs in 6th in my car.. at certain speeds below 60 mph 5th gear is the most economical.. go figure! thus higher revs compared to 6th gear (obviously)
Yep.
The rule of thumb is 10mph/gear for constant speed - so you shouldn't use 6th gear for constant speed until you're over 60mph. This works on just about anything, but there's the odd car with weird gearing where you need to get inventive - but anywhere around the 2krpm mark is going to get you the best efficiency you can get.
Without knowing more about this challenge we have to do a little guessing.
If it's a race against the clock, then being smooth on the throttle and not wasting any momentum will be key.
If this is going to strictly be about distance, then idling out, grab the next gear, idle out more (build a little more speed), repeat until car will not go any fast while idling, might be a good choice.
Are there obstacles to contend with?
Is it race? Cars? Time?
Hills?
There just isn't enough information, yet.
Actually, no. If you have the clutch in, the engine is forced to use a little bit of petrol to keep the engine idling. Any fuel injection car beyond the early 90's will likely have a total fuel cut when you're off throttle, using no petrol at all and using the momentum of the car to keep the engine turning over. Stick it in a high gear to minimise your speed loss.
Keep it in gear and rolling.
If you keep it in gear it will use no fuel at all - the injectors literally shut off.
GTPlanet members are having a well talented and appropriate conversation for this thread. Can someone tell me what is going on?
It all comes down to what car are we given and what track are we Eco-cruising on. Whenever if it's a C7 Vette at Brands Hatch or a Pruis at Bathurst. The real question is though, What happens when we run out?Silly question I know, but in the GT world it's a good one.
Does the event end the instant we run out or does it end when we stop completely? Food for thought.

The best fuel saving: GT6 should have an ignition switch.
How to drive very fuel effecient:
Drive like a grandpa with an egg behind the throttle and brake. Shift at 2000 revs.
Whenn going down hill select neutral and switch off the engine.
When you are at 80 kph again, you switch the engine back on and put it in the sixth gear.![]()

Avoid braking is my stratagy.I don't want the energy spent putting the car moving dissipating as heat produced by braking, after that I'll see how I drive
yes but you will go further out of gear! due to frictional losses and engine braking..
